Well, our daughter (almost 7 months), who has been sleeping through the night for a couple of months now seems to have decided she’s done with that. Has been waking every 2-3 hours the past couple of nights, I think she is teething. Tired Mothy today.
Bless your heart. Teething sucks!

I took a nice but very difficult hike to a waterfall yesterday. Still trying to recover. I was not prepared for this one -- suffered a little bit of dehydration. Not good. I was glad my brother was with me.

I only play games that have good human vs human play. I started PC gaming with turn based strategy games and first person with counter strike early betas. Final Fantasy... like Heathy suggested, it's just no credibility from the title on.

Fathers day dinners?
My family doesn't subscribe to the whole "Day" thing. But we did have two of my uncles over (totally unrelated to Father's Day). One lives in Alaska and one lives in California, but (despite having differentiable accents) they both still sound Minnesotan. (Some of it comes from their distinct form of laughter, which I associate with their family.) Just as they drove up I had finished vacuuming one rug and had to furiously vacuum the other (we have a dog and 5.5 indoor cats). We went around the yard and showed them the ship and garden and outbuildings and talked about the weird neighbours; I also kicked around basketballs and threw sticks at crowing roosters (negative reinforcement). I made a cake because whenever I'm at someone else's house and sit up to supper people don't make cookies (and also because I didn't feel like cookies for dessert). We ate supper: marinated (for 8 hours) venison (from roadkilled deer - story for another time and different parentheses) charred on the barbecue (which I didn't eat, of course), spinach and bell pepper and tomato and avocado salad (spinach from garden) with dressing of choice (italian or honey mustard), and large potatoes boiled and then broiled with spices. Then we had cake and a bit of vanilla ice cream for dessert, followed by coffee for the designated driver uncle (the one with the car and the bottle of beer and the glass of wine in stomach), myself, and my father. Then they left. Non-driving uncle (from Alaska) is an adopted-type father (kids of long-time girlfriend/now wife's previous relationship[s]), Californian uncle is the father of 4/6 (with legal adoptions) kids, and father is a father. They remarked on it during supper, but only talked about it for a few minutes (mainly Alaskan uncle about sort-of-grandkid) before following another tangent (one of one of their cousin's children).
Before they had manufactured this holiday of tie sales (investment tip: buy tie-related stock sometime before father's day and sell the week preceding it, or something):
57 years ago today my mother's father and mother were married. Let's hear it for only-kinda-dysfunctional relationships!

This hike was pretty brutal. Trail head was at around 8,000 feet. Two miles got us to a height of about 9,200 feet. The next mile took us down to about 8,200 feet. That's steep. Then the last mile took us up another 600 feet. The Greenhorn mountain range is called part of the "Wet Mountains" -- it wasn't so wet this time. It was hot and dry. It was actually so dry that we were worried that there wouldn't be any falls. We were pretty tired and then we got there. It was pretty awesome. It might have been nicer if there had been more water coming down, but it was still pretty cool. And it had the feeling like no one had ever been there. I'm sure that people have been there before, but I'm fairly confident that not many take that hike.
With regard to the pictures -- it was hard to capture the height and size of the whole thing. I got some fun pictures of my brother at the base of the falls but I don't feel right posting those on the site -- they're not pics that would be nice on someone else's wall.

Those bring back good memories of hiking/backpacking/driving around the drier portion of this state. (and Mt. St. Helens, which is in the wetter portion of the state it is in, which is not this state)
Edit: The flowers are similar, as are the waterfalls.

On a semi-related topic, I'm still awake! Usually coffee doesn't keep me from sleeping, but I'm not awake because of coffee, unless it makes the drinker more prone to playing video games.* Because that's what I was doing. Had to make up for lack of game-computer today (as in "daylight") and talk to people.
*I lied. The coffee simply kept me from feeling tired, which is sometimes the driving force behind going to sleep. Usually, though, it's fear of waking people up. Without coffee, though, I've gone without sleep for 30 hours or so. (I know it's not much compared to you all who go travelling and stuff, but bear in mind I'm a teen [need sleep] and have only gone on one aeroplane trip in ten years or so.) Not actually from gaming, but from reading books.
Right now I'm disjointed because of lateness; the caffeine has long since worn off, though not the taste of coffee. <Leaves to brush teeth.>

That's why I started drinking coffee when I was in the Army. My 18 year old body wanted sleep. I've learned to adapt. ;)

Good morning FAWTLiers..
Another Monday rears its ugly head. I did have an interesting Father's Day, got a home cloud storage device to try and wrestle my computer space problem. That'll be fun to put together tonight. Polished it off with the season finale of Game of Thrones. What a great job they did, and New True Blood next Sunday! Laters ....

If you ever do spring for one don't forget that the lens is every bit as important as the camera. I'm shooting with 1700 worth of camera and 1000 worth of lens. Being able to choose between a well programed aperture priority mode (on a great lens) and speed priority mode is... well... epiphanous. I've only had the SLR for a year, but I did learn photography young, did processing in my grandfather's basement and worked for this guy summers--he's my uncle. Does the expensive camera bother the wife? Not after she saw the pictures I get of our daughter. And I can shoot full HD video or get 8 frames a second and get the perfect moment on a moving subject.
The other cheaper way to have fun with it is try and pick up some composition tricks out of photo books and back it up with cool cropping (3rds, Fibonacci).
Anyway. Blah blah blah.... I could go on all day.

Morning all! My first Father's Day was pretty cool. Although we had to cancel gaming, however we did have a couple of the group members over to watch the finale of Game of Thrones. Jude has a swim lesson tonight, and then I am going skating on Wednesday. Then I need to find time to paint minis and work on the Courthouse this week.

Nice site, I love the scroll. The pictures of NY are very cool. The B&W of the guy going for the skateboard is just great, as are some of the engagement pics.

Morning, all. What did I miss?
Well, Cal and Edith were caught in a potentially compromising position at the company picnic, and their explanation of intense practice for the three-legged race did not sound convincing. Meanwhile, Scott had a great first Father's Day, despite the lack of sleep and being slightly hung over. And, across town, Charlie learned the value of chocolate flavored......No, wait! That's my soap opera!
