Well, today's Blue Apron meal put the nail in the coffin.
How can you possibly mess up broccoli beef? It's beef, broccoli, and sauce!
Apparently, add squash and avoid the sauce.
So I finished cooking, set up the plates, walked over to the computer, and canceled the service.
It's really too bad. I *LOVE* the idea. The execution was just... er... really really bad.

Hey have the members of FawtL ever discussed a road trip to say Gencon?
How about we head here and check this out in 2017.

Wisconsin grocery shopping, when you pick up a pound of cheese just because you're not sure if the kids have already gotten into the second pound of cheese in the fridge (also known as the emergency cheese) and everyone knows you need at least a pound of cheese for taco night.
Sounds about right to me.

LOL. We got our final Blue Apron delivery today, and...
...more pan-seared cod! Woo hoo?
Impus Minor has learned to HATE cod. He puts it very well: "Cod doesn't taste like anything!"
It's a fish dedicated to being a conduit to other flavors: Fish and chips with malted vinegar, pan-seared cod with (a decent) tartar sauce, a good potato gratin with cod...
...trouble is, their one attempt at tartar sauce was AWFUL (one of the dishes that started the discussion of cancellation), and today's sauce is a lemon sauce with ONE lemon, then a bunch of butter and... WATER. So yeah, the sauce looks to be as bland as the usual fare.
Fortunately, I have a lemon tree in my back yard, and will not be restricted by their recipes any more... :-P
EDIT: Honestly, it's kind of funny -- I liked the Blue Apron deliveries because they FORCED me to cook twice a week with the kids or face the dire consequences all of that food piling up in the fridge. NobodysWife hated it for exactly that reason -- she didn't like seeing all the time pressure to cook cook cook. So for now I'm going to see whether I can cook with the kids at least once a week without being forced to. Failing that, I was very kindly PM'ed with other companies providing the same service, so I at least have options if I fail to manage my own dishes well enough...

<Lawful Problems>
...listening to the Rite-Aid commercial misleading people into getting flu shots by telling them that a flu shot will protect them from all the sniffles, coughs, and other mild illnesses going around the office.
I love that they're giving free flu shots and encouraging people to get them.
I hate that they're misleading people to get them to come in...

I can't remember the last time I posted. Most of November is kind of a blur. So...November Summary!
NaNoWriMo! Yay! ....got the flu the first week. Ugh. But kept writing! Got a little better for a few days....got a nasty sinus infection that hung around for two weeks. Ugh.:( Still kept writing! Had to stop posting to my PBP because I was kinda a wee bit delirious...for a week or so. :( Still kept writing! (Revisions are going to be interesting....) Then Thanksgiving. Two full days of cooking for a from scratch feast because when you have food allergies pre-prepared food is something that happens to other people. Wednesday I hurt my arm. Late Wednesday evening I was trying to write with my sore arm which I had kinda dislocated my elbow earlier and had to stop writing after a thousand words because I was in crying pain. Took Thanksgiving off of writing. Managed to muddle through the cooking without being able to use my left arm. But all of the food turned out! That never happens! Still couldn't move my arm on Friday so I took another day and binge watched Gilmore Girls (Yay!) while making crochet snowflakes because crochet only uses one hand. Still couldn't move my arm on Saturday so we went to the movies. Sunday I was starting to think that I might need medical attention, but when my husband went to give me a back massage to see if it would help, he discovered that my elbow wasn't the only thing I'd dislocated. Which totally explained the pain. You should have seen how queasy he looked when I made him hold my arm so I could pop it back into place. After that I was still in pain but had mobility in my arm again so I knocked out the last five thousand words of my NaNo novel (WOO!). And then I put up all the Christmas decorations yesterday and did the grocery shopping today. Neither of these things were very good for my shoulder and I am having trouble keeping it in place. May need to consider using a sling for a couple of days. (I have loose ligaments. My joints dislocate so often it's not even a thing anymore. But I can get some nasty muscle injuries if they aren't popped back into place promptly. Three days out of socket was especially bad.)
And as a special bonus: Movie reviews!
Fantastic Beasts: B-/C+ The ending was...terrible. Just...grr. And someone needs to get Eddie Redmayne a chiropractor...it's not normal not being able to move your neck at all.... But the beasts themselves were cool and I enjoyed getting more time in my favorite fictional universe, so as long as I don't think about the ending too much it's fine.
Moana: A+! Loved it! It was fun and funny and the soundtrack rocks. We've been listening to it on repeat since we saw the movie. My thirteen year old son who hates Disney movies really liked it and wants to go back to see it in the theater again.
And now to catch up on my poor neglected PBP...

I'm now working a part time job for less than minimum wage plus tips, because stress broke me at my last job with panic attacks. It's so slow I'm not getting any work right now so...yeah...
Kind of hate my life right now. And myself for being pathetic enough to fall to this.
How's the rest of you?
Sorry things aren't working out so great for you right now. :(
Here's hoping that things get better for you soon.

Oh, and it has been exactly one day without the cats tipping over the Christmas tree. If we can get to two, it'll be a new record! But it may just be because it's only been up for one day and they're working their way up to it. Although I did put all their favorite ornaments on the bottom branches to distract them with cheap baubles I don't mind if they destroy. Their favorite are colorful plastic balls I bought at the dollar store fifteen years ago...I'm starting to think those ornaments are actually indestructible. Pretty good for a dollar. :)

Interesting... for me, Fantastic Beasts was perfectly palatable, but absolutely 100% predictable. So the ending didn't bother me that much at all. But I agree that it was overall "Meh"; I'd give it 4 beers.
Once I convinced my parents that we needed 8' trees with plastic bulbs on the bottom 3', both knock-downs and breakage were almost 100% eliminated.
Don't have an 8' ceiling? Improvise!

We have plastic Christmas balls, however when Tiny T-Rex was a year and a half he decided all of them needed to be thrown directly at the ground with as much force as he could muster.
All fine, until you go to grandma's house and they have glass bulbs. I still remember when Tiny T-Rex picked out a bulb and grandma said "oh, isn't that cute!" Wap on the floor it went, with a second in rapid succession.

BLARG!
Steam sale ended while I was checking out.
Took me forever to figure out what the problem was (Steam wasn't letting me check out for some reason).
>:I
Dang it.
Ah, well, maybe some future sale, Darkest Dungeon.
:/
EDIT: Daggummit, I can't even add the "Soundtrack Addition" to my Wishlist so I can easily find it later... :I

Captain Yesterday's guide to a happy home in less then five easy steps.
1. Get your loved ones a surprise package of Andes Mints.
2. Leave them on the kitchen table so they'll notice them when they wake up in the morning.
That is all.
You forgot step 3.
3. Make sure the kids do not see them first.

Did ever mention my brothers like to talk? I thought I was getting into a half-hour character submission review when I called tonight . . . . Hoo, boy!!!
Three hours, 32 minutes, and change . . . . Wow. It was a good talk, though. I'm exhausted, and did none of the cleanup I meant to this evening . . . . . There's always Thursday . . . .

Got to play all of 20 minutes of FFXV yesterday. Liking it so far. The combat is more Dragon Age 2 + Devil May Cry than Kingdom Hearts, liking it though.

And for Freehold, they have Cindy.
