Happy Dead Turkey Day, people!

And, yes, the turkeys *will* be naked, too.

Ethel: Moo!

I completely love that profile picture.

from the old flaws for commoners I think.

If the turkeys aren't dressed, someone's not doing it right.

I blame... Alton Brown!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope your tables are free of murduckens.

We personally don't eat turkey.

Something about a childhood spent helping my dad butcher turkeys, and the kids running with a flock of wild turkeys through the woods on the way to school nearly every day.

Thanksgiving is probably one of my least favorite holidays, rivaled only by my birthday, and maybe New Year's Eve.

Because I know TL and CY love to read such stuff.

Reading the obituary pages is what originally drew me to the AP boards.

My favorite is still the guy that killed his girlfriend's 10 year old son's character with a random encounter in Kingmaker.

That and the guy that had jungle goats stalk the party, slowly whittling them down, one by one because the barbarian drop kicked one of them their first night. :-)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Those sound like fun.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

The jungle goat one was especially funny, because he started with just a couple appearing on the edge of camp during the rain, dude kicked one, and then every night after there would be a few more, then a few more, and so on.

Absolutely brilliant use of a throw away random encounter.

Ugh.

Turkey didn't defrost in the fridge and now it's my fault because I came in late last night and made dinner ostensibly for us both with leftovers from office party and thereby "hogged" the kitchen despite the fact she had been home all day and in fact all week...

Grumble grumbling grumble

Oh, c'mon, CY, what about the magnificence of Hero the Goat?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I thought i'd favorite'd it already.

But yes as someone that grew up with goats on the farm i always appreciate a good goat story.

Happy Thanksgiving, all! Even you, cap! Love you guys!

Family portion of Thanksgiving done, went very well, even if my brother's pumpkin pie could be generously described as slightly less than inedible.

I definitely wouldn't feed it to the dog, but I might feed it to a goat.

And Pea Bear, bless her heart, every time politics came up she would chime in with "Now, Star Wars is the one with Spock, or was he a Cylon?"

Sniff sniff, that's my little girl!

OK... killed another two tonight, but one was an adult! An ADULT!!!!!

No, actually you manipulated the rules in a non-standard manner to make sure the adult lives, even as the child was mauled by undead tigers...

In Mummy's Mask the kids closed and barred the door as I was swarmed by tiny wooden figures that I couldn't damage because I went with weapon finesse and the kids were carrying all the torches.

Teach you to not give the kids their allowance.

Work was fairly bland. Nothing exciting or especially stupid to report, kinda disappointed. :-(

Well, friendsgiving was fun:

One double strength tequila and orange soda
One extra strength slug of rum
One regular slug of disgusting mint schnapps
One glass of sangria mixed with a can of orange soda, a slug of tequila, and margarita mix
One s*#~ty hipster beer
One extra strength whiskey sour with cheap red wine poured in for extra flavor

Somehow I can still spell and talk, though I can't walk right.

To anyone that loves Figs, the Kickstarter for Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 was just launched and they also have a Black Friday sale on their webstore.

To compare, the original Kicksarter finished at just over $2 Million USD. This Kickstarter beat that in 2 hours.

And it's not even been 6 hours and they're almost at $3 Million.

Random thoughts on a Friday morning:

  • My impression that West Coast shoppers were saner than those to the east was blown out of the water last night. As we drove home from Thanksgiving dinner and other visits, we happened to pass several shopping malls. They were all packed to the gills. I have to agree with thegreenteagamer -- can we PLEASE not shop on Thanksgiving proper? Those people working in the stores happen to ALSO have families, and I'd like to think that, no matter their relationships with their families, they'd rather be at home than working retail on Thanksgiving.

Of course, I'll always remember when I was working at the video store on Memorial day and the UPS guy showed up. We asked him, "What are you doing here on a holiday?"
He gave us a HUGE grin and responded, "I'm making tripletime, baby! $81 an hour for working today!"

So I can see SOME people wanting to work on Thanksgiving Day, but I'm not going to contribute to it. Ever.

  • Speaking of our corner store, it's a lot of fun to shop there for "normal" stuff because they just don't carry major brands. So when NobodysWife asked me to pick up some Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix, they of course didn't have it. I picked up some Mrs. Cubbison's Traditional Stuffing and NobodysWife did her usual magic (cooking it up with celery, onions, and our local charcuterie's Italian sausage). It was easily the best stuffing I've had in 20+ years. So yeah, Mrs. Cubbison's. Good stuff. If it exists anywhere outside of our corner store.
  • Piling on the congrats, Icy!

I got to do something new last night.

I was Jeffrey's bodyguard. No I didn't have to resort to singing that Whitney Houston song.

I also heard a lot of "what do you mean you don't know, don't you work here!?!"

To which my reply is always "you're not the first person to stroll in here, sorry to say"

Icy, grats! I thought I posted this earlier, but apparently I got too busy with inconsequential arguments. I'm facepalming at that.

And, I'm apparently spending the last week of December doing some on-site work. They need the company idiot so the scientists can practice dumbing down what they say to the point the common man can understand it. Yes, I made my lack of education into a career opportunity.

In other news, today was notable due to the Great Poo Emergency, but the less said about that the better.

I don't have a super high post count, but my posts made to posts favorited is a pretty good ratio. It's not even all ones that are favorited by Tacticslion (though hanging out in the same threads as him is a pretty good way to get that ratio up).

Yes, Tac has certainly mastered the arcane art of "wall of text" -- fortunately, they're pretty good walls! Zombie-'Net Pockylips happens, I want him firewalling for me. lol

And now, for something completely different:

Have any of you played Steve Jackson Games' FRAG? I've seen others play it before, but I never really tried to learn/study it; I ask because Darth Heathen's "Wizard Chess" game evokes the association, and I'm trying to provide sounding-board advice. While fun, the current iteration is . . . complicated . . . and trying to streamline/simplify the "control knobs" involved may be of a great service.

Has anyone tried the Baldur's Gate I & II Enhanced Edition and is it worth buying if I already have the original?
