Do you wear glasses or contact lenses for eyesight (not cosmetics)?Glasses. I tried contacts for a while, but my allergies rendered that impossible. My eyes were always either too watery or too dry and very much too itchy. There were a lot of things I liked about contacts, but I just couldn't make them work for me.
Edit: Wearing nothing bu glasses for the top. :)
Ignoring top...
I guess we'll all be able to discern FaWTLians at the Con by looking for glasses.

Another 4-eyes here. I have sensitive eyes, and contacts would be expensive for my astygmatism, so I see no point spending a lot of money on contacts I could barely wear.

So I burnt my arm at work the other day and last night Seth decided to kick it when he was sleeping in our bed. I ddin't realise it (altohugh I kept waking up all night wondering why my arm hurt so much) but he had ripped the top layer of skin off the burn and the tender skin underneath had completely dried out.
So I went to the Chemist and bought a freaking $4 surgical strip to put over it and the damn thing wouldn't stick properly on one end. So of course when I had a shower it filled up with water and the end won't stick at all now. Back to the Chemist for another $4 strip for me tomorrow... :(

Oh, and Aaron Williams (the author of Nodwick, Full Frontal Nerdity, and PS238) is doing another webcomic - Epic Campain - this time for the online WoTC Dragon magazine (the free section). I like that he's doing more comics, but I'm not too fond of the new Dragon.
This is a dark day. sips Haterade(tm) mournfully

Depending on the size and location of the burn triple antibiotic ointment and and simple breathable gauze with a moderately tight tape wrap might help. If any of the old skin is there and it's only a second degree burn the old skin helps to protect the new developing skin until the old skin comes off on its own.
I tend to prefer this kind of wound maintenance for my second degree burns over an Op site dressing for example.

And that appears to be me done for the night, since I'm falling asleep at the computer.
I might go back to watching RAGE for a bit, since they're having an Old Skool Big Hair Band (Poison, Warrant, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith...) Set on at the moment.Night All. Have Fun!
Good night. Heal well.

The vitamin is too big. It might as well be a suppository. X_X
I'm sure you tell that to all the Puffins.

There's two guys I haven't seen a lot of, lately.
Yeah, I had been in New Orleans for Charlie's baptism. Got back to Philly on the 30th and left again on the 31st to come down to Norfolk. Been busy as hell ever since. Working 5pm to 5am shift on the ship, then back to the hotel to sleep for a few hours, then up for some lunch, maybe answer some emails and make some phonecalls, then back to the ship. Good times.
Anyway, my post from last night was done from my Blackberry during a quiet moment on the ship. It's a pain in the ass to connect there, so I won't do it often.

"Chemist?" You mean apothecary, or druggist, or pharmacist?

How did the baptism go? Where was it? Pics?

A couple years ago the awesome local doughnut place closed down. I'd been going there since I came to this town (like 3 years old). It was run by a Vietnamese family. Anyway, it closed down and this place called "Coffe Culture" came in (not a doughnut place). I've always hated it.
I used to prefer sugar-type doughnuts to apple fritters. The apple bits were surprising, and as a young'un I mostly wanted sugar. Since about 13, however, I've loved apple fritters. I usually only get them when we travel, nowadays.
Now there's a new semi-chain (regional in county area) supermarket with a sort of organic bent (more organics and free trade than Trader Joe's (R?), but less than the poor, starving Co-Ops). Right now I'm eating an apple fritter from there. It wasn't as good as the old doughnut place's, but fairly close. Kinda over-sweet.
Edit: Point? I don't know.
And the point - is beside the mountains - off we go!

and somwhere, some pages ago, Aberzombie told the story of the Great Crawfish Escape of 2011 - that was related to the babtism but sadly did not include giant lobsters fighting zombie hordes

Yup. I now have an official high-school graduate for a daughter. It's funny how science-fictiony I used to think 2011 was when I figured out her grad date. Yet, here we are, and still no goddamned flying DeLoreans ...

The baptism went fine. Very nice, in fact. The deacon was really cool and the church Mary Queen of Peace in Mandeville, Louisiana.
I know for a fact that people were taking pictures, but I've only seen a few and didn't have time to post any of them. Maybe when I get back from my trip.....

I WAS back on Philly, for less than 24 hours. Last Tuesday morning I flew down to Norfolk, and I've been here ever since. I'll still be here through sometime next weekend, most likely.
