It depends on the game actually.
In the case of MMORPGs there is a TON of other MMORPGS to switch to. Give someone a buggy experience they might lose a few players (no big deal as you say people are used to the bad quality) but give them a crap time a LOT and you will only have a handful of die hard fans left. MMOs come and go rapidly this will hurt them if they can't keep it from being the norm.

Another petty computer annoyance: Web sites whose sign-in pages clear BOTH your username and password if you mistype the password.
I understand the idea: They lock down accounts after 3 failed attempts, so if you accidentally type in someone ELSE'S username you're inadvertently locking out someone else's account.
But if they'd just adopt a reasonable, "After 3 failed attempts you can't log in for 60 minutes" strategy that wouldn't be a horrific inconvenience.
It's all about total time lost: That tiny handful of people who get locked out of their accounts while they're trying to access them because someone else mistyped their user ID, or the multitude of people who mistype their password and then have to re-enter both User ID and Password.
Feh.
I'm obviously too grumpy today.

My work has a ten minute lock out period if you mistype your password or username.
My credit union has a 100% lockout if you miss 3 times. You have to go through the whole, "Verify your identity and create a new password" rigamorole.
Which for me is a nightmare because my passwords are randomly-generated ASCII strings...

I have a player b#*~*ing that I'm not giving them enough RP. I've been steadily moving with about 25% talky talk, and 75% killy kill, because that's how I like it. I'm the one GMing.
Yet nobody offers to step up and take over. No, it's just b+!%!, b!!!~, motherf$%*ing b@~~@, and no offer to do anything themselves about it. Getting a little bit annoyed here...
Look, I love RP and talk time as much as the rest, but in six hours I don't want to spend four of them talking. If I wanted to do that, I'd join an improv troop and sell my books, dice, and minis.

Well, they are both insanely jealous. And they had quite the fight earlier because I bought a new toy for them and they both wanted to play with it. But it's still weirding me out. :)

Oh, my day has improved massively, all thanks to Impus Major. We've been dealing with <<undisclosed medical issue>> for a couple of months now, and the BEST news we'd gotten was, "Well, it's probably not cancer."
Today we finally met with the expert who had all the scans and ultrasounds and the like, and his diagnosis was, "Yep. This is what it is. Leave it alone, monitor it, and he should be fine."
MUCH relief!
But I am WAAAAAY behind at work thanks to a multitude of medical appointments.
But Impus Major's ludicrously-cheerful attitude in the face of ANYTHING, and absolute acceptance of people for who they are, just strikes me with awe.
He's going to be an awesome, awesome adult.
(I still want to disguise him as a 12-year-old (he's only 104 pounds), pack him in a box, and ship him to Captain Yesterday's for a week to provide nuclear assistance to CY's daughter and her 'bully problem'. She sounds more-than-capable on her own, and just needs a wing man. I'm sure it would be an armageddon worthy of a skald.)

Maybe you need to talky talk during the killy kill. When my old group complained about lack of role play and too much fighting I got out all my Shakespeare plays and started having NPCs quote Shakespeare. :-)
Edit: that was my Serpent's Skull campaign.

Finally set up my television and Playstations last night, and put together my new chair. Played Witcher 3, which I've had since April but never played (I was working 30 hours a week with a two hour commute and taking 16 units in school. Awesome gaming got backbenched.). I like it. As I sat down to game last night, I broke out the Irish whiskey, and it did my spirits well.
I work evenings, so this morning I had a heaping platter of bacon and eggs and fine black Italian coffee, and played more Wild Hunt, and all was good.

After all, they don't stop being characters just because initiative was rolled.
Still, if you aren't going to change, one of you has to go. And in most cases, it's the player that goes.

I had a good morning. So of course the biggest bombshell of this year long family drama storm hit half an hour ago, and I'm so pissed I can't even sound mad, and half to go to work in ten minutes instead of digesting how big a moral event horizon my stepdad just crossed. It's like every time I enjoy myself, a boot has to drop.

None of the other players are complaining about it. In fact, when I give them opportunities to talk, most of them just clam up. It's why I moved from 40/60 to about 25/75. I otherwise like the guy, but I'm really getting tired of his complaining. I offered to let him take over GMing, but he says he's not great at stories, and then says I'm doing a good job....but it's like...well, if I am...why are you b&*!!ing so much?
Anyway, I know how to solve the problem. Talk to like an adult, ect. I just needed to vent a bit. Thanks for listening folks. :-D

Cy, I'm glad your son'son's health is improving. Here's hoping it continues the upward spiral.
Tgtg, make roleplaying opportunities happen in combat. Have enemies beg for mercy, act like jerks who the players really want to kill personally, and so on. It will help.
Klaus, you are in Turkey? For gods sake stay safe man. Please stay low to the ground and as in touch with us as possible.
Rosita, I'm sorry family drama is continuing to ruin your goodntimes. If it helps I am available by pm.
Now, to undertake a sekrit mission for the second job before coming home to prep for Kingmaker Saturday.

I've done stuff like that. I don't think this person understands what RP is. He seems to think it's all social conversations. I've had eloquent dinners where they met with polymorphed dragons, infiltration of bandit camps, Mexican standoffs between disagreeing factions, conversations with multiple NPCs who are each nuanced and different than one another, some allies, some enemies, tribal politics...he's just annoyed because we spend more time fighting than not, and again, as I have said, if I wanted to NOT fight, I wouldn't be playing Pathfinder, I'd sell my stuff and join an improv troop.
I have tried to let someone else take the reins and GM - I greatly prefer being a player to being a GM - but the only other person who was willing flaked hard on us. So, as far as I'm concerned, if anyone else wants to take over and run it a different way, they're more than welcome, but none has taken that offer.

Damn, military coup in Turkey happening right now.
Hopefully it won't explode into something bigger, but apparently the military itself is divided and the Prime Minister asked people to go out to the streets and fight, so it might devolve into a bloody conflict.
I just heard about this. ~grimaces~ That really sucks. But it begs the question "Is Putin behind it?"

And now I've calmed down, and I have no right to be calm, but I just don't have the energy to be pissed off anymore. I should, but I saw this coming from too far away. My stepdad's temper has been getting increasingly worse and he and Mom fight more and more, and he was alwahs the type to want to get physical in disciplining the kids. She'd keep him from doing the worst things, and he'd submit to her will, but the stroke weakened her once legendary formidability a lot more than she admits. Only a matter of time before he started getting physical in dealing with her, too, and know that it's happened I'm just not surprised.
I feel like I should be raging right now, but I just can't. If anything, I'm resigned, because she's not going to call the cops, she's not going to divorce him, and I can't travel from San Francisco to Denver to deal with him right now. My sister was going to (and Grandma freaked out and my sister gave her our guns for the time being to assure her we wouldn't drive out there and do something really f+#%ing stupid), but even she's questioning the wisdom of getting involved.
I'm just kind of sick right now.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I need to just do stuff so I don't think about this, because I can't fix this. Mom and I have always been very distant with each other, and neither of us is accustomed to being emotionally available with the other. If anyone gets through to her that she needs to do something, it'll be my sister, not me.
