Great! Now I have the image of a cheerful little tadpole with a lion mane swimming around in a pond.

Swim like the tadpole man, swim like the tadpole.

Naked.

TS's response to GM's question "Is there anything you want to do before the other PCs arrive?" during the first scene of TS's first Rifts scenario:

"Er...I hide my stash of blow, and wait for everyone to show up."

In my defense, I probably wouldn't have chosen the cyber-knight, had I known that that pregen had the Dudley Do-Right alignment.

I left home to go to walk to the train around 11. For once, it's not foggy or ice cold. Not hot or even really warm, but not unpleasant. Slightly cloudy, bit of a breeze. Get to the end of the block, look down the street, and it's clear all the way to the ocean about 20 blocks down. The horizon is a great expanse of deep blue-gray water, and it calls out most seductively. Now I don't want to go to work, but I must. How are tourists to get their alcohol if I am not there to sell it to them?

Do not swim during a thunderstorm.

At least, not without signing this life insurance policy first.

Making a hasty assumption that Tacticscubs aren't adopted, I'd wager that LadyFiredove saw you without cloths before, and the childrens' existence might be somehow related to your lack of clothing in the past...

Too bad Orthos hasn't been around. I wanted to ask him if he's played the Brave New World ROM hack for FF6.

I'm enjoying it a lot! Retranslated, upgraded difficulty, and a lot of changes...

They totally revamped the game so magic and magic resist aren't the only stats that matter, linked certain espers so only certain characters can use them, made the evasion stat and magic evasion actually work, modded the characters so they're not all "one size fit all" anymore, redid the weapons and armor so it's not all "buy the most expensive in each new town you get to", got rid of gauntlets and genji gloves and just gave some characters the ability to dual wield and some weapons the ability to be dual gripped...lots of stuff.

In particular, the fact that the first boss can kill you in one shot if you hit his shell on accident instead of just hurting you really, really bad was a shock for me. 9999 damage. From a snail.

Oh, and if you needed a spoiler for that, it's been over 20 years. Rosebud is a sleigh. Jesus dies in the Passion. The Titanic sinks.

Another game of Team Evil Kingmaker down today. One of my players returned with his brand new Necroccultist, who has already proven himself to be incredibly helpful. Sadly, one of my players will be going on vacation with his family for a few weeks, so it's the last session for a while. However, they have finally started the Varnhold Vanishing. Luckily enough, their first welcome into the Glenbon Uplands was the Random Encounter table throwing 6 Cyclopes at them. Now that was a hard won fight for a group consisting of nothing but casters, and it was only by the grace of the Necroccultist using his fast zombies to great effect that they managed to get through it.

Kingmaker Plot stuff.:
Of course, they weren't happy to go to Varnhold, because they had a Kingdom to run. They tried to send a patrol from their kingdom to look into it first, but between Glenbon's natural fauna and Nyrissa's Spriggan/Sangoi investigators, they were quickly massacred. So they somewhat reluctantly left the kingdom and went into Varnhold to investigate themselves, as their attempts to Scry on Varn and other notables have failed miserably due to the fact that their souls have been trapped. So they beat-feet to Varnhold on some horses, and started looking into things. They immediately concluded that the Nomen centaurs couldn't have possibly been behind the vanishing, mainly due to the fact that it was way too subtle, clean, and complete for a simple skirmish to be the cause. They found Pendrod's notes rather quickly, and also found Vordekai's familiar spying on them. The Occultist engaged by flying and shooting a ray of enfeeblement at it, then caught it before it hit the ground. It then promptly exploded in his face. That little exchange has everyone paranoid now, but at least they now know enough to go talk to the Nomen peaceably. Unfortunately for them, a little trek through bullette territory killed the Witch, so they had to take some time going back to their Kingdom to raise him, as their simultaneous outlawing of all good-aligned religions in their Kingdom and desecration of the temple of the stag sorta burned their bridges with religion in Restov.

That is demonstrably not swimming, and we're too paranoid to ever trust a pool or "private" beach to be that private (or comfortable, for that matter)...

Spawning days are different days. And, you know, don't work like tadpoles, fish, or others non-human mammals. As I'm specifically referring to birth, in this case, it also requires a hospital (as we needed it, both times).

And I was far too mild to ever be interested in any of the over-the-top violence that McFarine (sp?) or related companies made.

:)

I'm surprised no one has linked the Futurama mermaid one, yet.

I'm drinking a Heineken to wash down my spicy steak and eggs, and I find myself at a loss as to why I bought the Heineken. If I wanted an easy to drink, spicy food beer, I'd generally reach for a nice craft pilsner like Scrimshaw.

As to steak, I may hate black pepper, but I do enjoy a moderate dusting of cayenne as a substitute. Turn up the cayenne and add in paprika [for smokiness], garlic powder, onion powder, and the obligitary salt, and you can't tell it's "cheap before it was close to expiration" beef.

I have returned from Connecticon.

Yikes. What a ride.

Coworker and nephew did nothing but get on each other's nerves. It was so reminiscent of having an older daughter and a younger son. I loved it. Probably because I don't have kids myself. But it was a great look at a possible future. I think I was an okay dad. Probably because my coworker called me "Mom" constantly due to my mother hen-ing.

Met Nana Visitor, Michael Dorn, and John Rhys Davis during this con. The latter was going around from booth to booth shaking the hands of people who couldn't leave their businesses. My nephew shook his hand, all the while wondering who this guy was, which made me feel a bit old. Still, the man is a true class act.

Drive back was not NEARLY as bad as drive up, even including the kids acting like... kids. I threatened to turn the car around so many times, and duct tape them to each other even more times. I even threatened them with the "This is our get along shirt" meme that is HILARIOUS. God. I am a mother(hen).

Yasunori Mitsuda...better composer than Nobuo Uematsu.

I said it.

...

...

...

...Nobuo is still pretty amazing. Yasunori just makes nothing but gorgeous compositions. The entire soundtrack of Chrono Cross almost makes up for how awful that game was.

I said that Yasunori Mitsuda is a better composer than Nobuo Uematsu.

They're both video game composers who used to work for Square Enix back in it's golden age. They've both since struck out as independents, but Nobuo gets a lot more name recognition because he's significantly more prolific.

Oh wait, Mitsuda did Flight from Xenogears. N/m. I may have gotten composers confused.
