How to piss off the GM for Hell's Vengeance and drive to plots of revenge against you.
It's not that everything has terrible touch AC, far from it, but let's just say, if Paladin commanders of open rebellion have one weakness, it's for a suit of nice heavy armor. And dumping dexterity.

What Aranna said is true if you're into consumerism. I haven't given a crap what people thought about my vehicle. When I was young enough to care what people thought (high school) people were just impressed if you had a car and would give them a ride. In college EVERYONE was broke as hell and understood if you have a beater. From post-college on, I just give zero f%&&s.
How little of a f~%& do I give what people think?
I own and occasionally wear Hawaiian shirts, even though I recognize how dorky they are. It's HOT in Florida and rayon is the most glorious material ever created by man. It feels like nothing is trapping heat in at all.
I publicly admit to liking Phil Collins music. He was a talented man.
I give zero craps. I drive a PT cruiser I bought for 1K. It's a dorky mom vehicle. It runs. The AC works. It was 1K!

I don't have a car either. This is an inconvenience when I have to travel around late at night or on Sundays/public holidays, but it's probably saved me a lot of money, given the cost of fuel/road tax/insurance, not to mention the colossal amount of bother the things seem to cause my friends and workmates...

That's nice. Some cities don't offer that luxury. Taking the bus anywhere in Jacksonville takes like 2 hours, as they only show up about once an hour and usually require at least one transfer.
This is why I study public transportation administration at university. I want to make America less dependent on cars.

Yeah, it doesn't help when a private company, Jacksonville Transit Authority, has been given exclusive rights to all public transit in the city and totally has the mayor in their pocket. We have a light that goes almost nowhere (seriously, it's like a 2 mile circle) and cost MILLIONS of dollars and was originally supposed to cross the whole city but they cut it down to almost nowhere, a ferry that is useless, and a bus system that takes forever. Bus drivers have it so easy. I have literally seen some fall asleep while driving and hit the car in front of them and be driving again next week.
...and that is why people hate unions.

Oh, and if any of you ever GM'd Kingmaker (or were a player in it past book 1), I could use some help over here.

Yea, well, light rail is generally inferior to bus unless you grade separate it, which is rare, and [politics redacted].

Oh, I'm generally in favor. There's nothing to debate. That's just the entirety of the argument against them - incompetent people are not fired. Just because it has flaws doesn't mean I personally am against them. Didn't know that would be a forbidden subject.

Not forbidden, just not appropriate to this particular thread. I wouldn't be able to discuss this without naming political parties and politicians.

22 years is a lot to walk away from...
At the same time, staying together for the kids for the last 12 years hasn't been good for the kids. Quite the opposite. Those two are such a dramatical minefield that I can't even call home anymore, and my stepdad's "I'm going to keep leading Rosita's brother on in thinking Rosita is moving in for the summer when she's not, because apparently 17 isn't old enough to know this family has problems, and I'm going to kick Rosita's ass if she tells him" game is just another example of how he is a complete child.

Headache.
It's been ever since about 12~1:30 PM or there-ish.
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.
It's not so bad that I can't do anything, nor is it blinding, nor is it "my world is this pain"-type of headache.
But it's enough to prevent me from going to sleep, to keep me from thinking toooooooooooooo terribly clearly, and to keep me from adequate focus.
It apparently comes with occasional lances of pain from my forehead to the back of my head (though this hasn't been true since 8 PM or so), occasional dizziness (though only when I've been watching things move a lot; such as a video game), and a weird combination restlessness-and-exhaustion. Mild exertion makes it moderately worse and leaves me breathing heavily. Tylenol makes it better... but doesn't make it entirely go away.
(I did think it had entirely vanished a few minutes ago, until I rolled over without thinking, and it was back in full force.)
Blarg.
That said, aside from the headache, today has been a really good day. I'm so grateful for my children, my wife, and my friends. And you guys. I kind of wish I could mend fences with everyone, but I'm glad even for those people who just... won't, for whatever reason. Awkward misunderstandings and refusal of acceptance are just part of life sometimes, and I really hope that those who either have misjudged me or, even, judged me accurately and just don't like me, have good lives and find peace and joy within them.
Seeing the love and kindness and good spirit of my children is... a blessing that can't really be compared. Experiencing the love and care and intimacy of my wife is equally incomparable - having that person who I can just linger with, even when I feel like the worst, with whom I've shared over a decade and with whom I can converse with about anything or just rest near is precious beyond words.
And I'm grateful for you all, FaWtL: you're awesome, and I appreciate you, and these forums. Though I want to meet you all face-to-face, I'm glad I get to know and listen to and experience things through this form of communication, too. The opportunity to just relax and ramble on about things is a wonderful gift and I'm grateful to you all for it. Thanks.
I'm reminded of the corollary of one of the quotes I made earlier:
"Joy maximizes what you have and minimizes what you don't have."
I wish you all joy - and peace, and security - throughout your lives.
As an aside, I'd characterize the charcter/emotion "Joy" from Inside Out as "happiness" instead of "joy" - happiness, to me, is the emotion that is mercurial and momentary, whereas joy is a deep and abiding thing that goes beyond emotions (which are temperamental and alterable by nature) to persistent, even in sorrow or trouble. Joy and happiness, in that way, are related, yet different from each other; joy does not oppose sadness, but persists through it - true joy is what the character Joy (and Sadness and the rest) learns can be found even through the emotions like sadness or the others. Buuuu~uuut that's just me, and is akin to the nuance I use between Bravery (lacking fear) and Courage (doing something regardless of fear), and Envy (a zealous regard and desire for what belongs to others) and Jealousy (a zealous regard and desire for what belongs to you) - personal definitions that help words and concepts make better sense to me. :)

We have an all Occult class party for Hell's Rebels.
Two Kineticists, one water, one fire.
Elven Mesmerist and Elven Medium.
"Hey, for the AP where everyone is supposed to be lawful evil, we're going to be two Halflings and two Elves. Makes sense."
Hm. I think that someone doesn't quite understand the setting very well...
Here's hoping it works out well! Sounds like it'll be lots of fun! Also, no, you aren't "supposed" to be lawful evil... ;)

Tacticslion |

Haha! I also like Phil Collins.
As do I, friends. As. Do. I. :D
Though, truth be told, I really didn't understand what all the hubbub was about when he did Disney's Tarzan movie. I was all, "Uh, okay, that's cool? Why is everyone talking about this? I mean... good for him, and all, but this isn't worth being up in arms over, either for or against...

You rock Tacticslion, can't say I've ever gotten mad at you for anything.
Even though you totally mistook Hell's Rebels for Hell's Vengeance and personally, Hell's Vengeance would be way more fun with a Chaotic or Neutral Evil party.
Still, even through all that, we still love you man. :-)
Yay! Oops! Yay!
...but we're not in love with you. We hope you understand. It's nothing personal. It would just ruin the friendship.
Yay! Yep! Yay!
EDIT: that awkward moment when you realize you said the opposite of your intended meaning...

Yeah; I've heard nothing but good things about getting around in S.F. proper, but try GETTING there from across a bridge.
NobodysWife can plan on a bus just plain not coming at least one day a week. And she only rides it 4 days. A 25% miss rate on a commuter bus is... less than acceptable.

It isn't just consumerism. Humans are trained all their life to evaluate everything based on appearances so why not use that to our advantage? Want to be seen as sporty, wear sporty clothes, drive a sporty car, and talk with sporty slang and everyone will think how amazingly sporty you are whether you play sports or not.

Seattle has the best public transportation system. Everything is timed so crossing routes are just as easily accessible. I could go someplace, have to ride three different buses and not have to wait more then five minutes for the connecting bus to arrive.
The downside is, it makes riding the bus anywhere else a frustrating test of fortitude.

Yeah, I can pretty much expect a once-a-week ritual:
8:02 am: NobodysWife steps out the door to catch the 8:08 bus at the stop about 50 yards from our house
8:20 am: NobodysWife calls to warn me the bus hasn't shown up... again...
8:40 am: NobodysWife comes running in, swearing, because neither the 8:08 nor 8:38 buses bothered to show up
8:45 am: I drop NobodysWife at BART, where she renews her hatred of humanity. I like to think of BART during rush hour as, "You know those Japanese trains where professional shovers pack everyone in so tightly they can't even move their arms? Try that with a group of people with no sense of personal hygiene, propriety, or the capability of doing anything quietly..."

I used to ride the bus in Madison for work, then I figured out, on the weekend, I actually saved 15 minutes by just walking. It was a 4.5 mile walk, but at least I get to say I used to walk 4 and a half miles to work, uphill, and through the snow without a hint of over exaggerating.
Take that old timers!

Yup, this saturday after a FHDM-style drinking session (:P). I got the bus back into town, just in time to miss the bus home by 4 minutes.... then waited around a bit to ensure it'd gone & wasn't just late. Thus I headed for the train which left just as I'd entered the station.
So due to them both being hourly services, I ended up walking the 2-4 miles home. :)

Because we've evolved beyond our primal instincts. We're also naturally ingrained to mount every female we find attractive whether they want it or not, but it doesn't make it a good idea.
Did you just somehow relate people's habit of evaluating things on surface appearances... With rape!?
