I give up.
I learned this stuff in 5th, 6th, 7th, and now Algebra 1.
I was assuming that the new stuff you were teaching was supposed to be an advanced form of stuff I already learned, but it was just an introduction.

It's more Earthbound + Moral Choice System + pseudo-NewGame+ (you don't keep your old stats/gear, but the game remembers choices you made in prior playthroughs and it sometimes changes things) with a great deal of heart-wrenching, an absolutely astounding soundtrack, and a little bit of nightmare fuel thrown in.
It's all of $10. Highly recommended.
Just don't slaughter everything thoughtlessly. You'll have a bad time.

hmm.
There are at least two studies and one movie I can think of that are popular rebuttals to the spoilered work. Best advice for kid is that that really was just a movie. Encourage him to do his own research and make his own movie in opposition. Considering his smarts and your support of him, I think he has a chance of actually doing it, but this would be time consuming and probably something he should look at when he is in college.

They can be trained out of that, and will often completely stop on their own once they've been fixed. If they don't, it takes a bit of persistence, and keeping the litterbox clean; not having a place to go makes them more liable to mark your stuff out of spite.

Moral of the story: Never own male cats. Ever.

I like them both about equally. We had both growing up - dogs as guard dogs and in-house companions, cats left to roam outside to control the mouse population - so we had a lot of experience to both throughout my younger life.
The main reason I chose to get cats was because of my work schedule. I'm away from home so long, especially during overtime time (like now) that a dog - which really requires a lot more direct interaction and isn't as great at taking care of itself when the human's away, especially cramped in a tiny apartment - wasn't really a wise choice. And any dog small enough to not feel cramped is going to be one of those annoying little yappy dogs that I hate.
Meanwhile the two cats are mostly well-behaved and self-sufficent (outside needing food and litterbox tending), entertain each other, and are small enough that the size of the apartment isn't an issue for them.

After a quick look, this is still the case. Please don't put Beaver Scouts into Google, though, unless you are prepared for a Tuesday Surprise.
And what did you find?

When I was a kid, I drank soda all the time. Never water. (I'm not sure why I was allowed to do this. Maybe because it was the 80s?) I am convinced it stunted my growth. The docs said I was trending to be about 6'4". That never came to pass.
Now I have soda about once a month if that. I don't miss it.

I haven't inundated this thread with tales of my father, who was an amazingly contradictory mix of generosity, kindness, bigotry, and unintentional cruelty. A fascinating case study in and of himself.
Anyway, he made sure that the house was always stocked with sodas and ice cream for all the teenage visitors. He must have bought 3-4 gallons of ice cream and several cases of soda a week.
And he had one simple rule for all his children and all his guests: "ONE a day."
Every guest or child was allowed ONE soda and ONE bowl of ice cream per day.
Anyone violating the rule was not allowed back in the house.
It was amazingly effective at keeping our soda consumption at reasonable levels throughout our teenage years...

one a day sounds reasonable in the extreme.

So went to court today for that ticket I vented about a couple of weeks ago. Didn't even have to face the judge. I have online classes to complete within the next 4 months, and its going to cost me around $350, but only $40 is due up front. And so long as I complete the classes the ticket won't be put on my record so my insurance won't go up.
So relieved.

My folks wouldn't let me drink soda as a kid, and I still stopped short of the height the doctor said I was going to reach (prediction: 6'3"; actual: 6'0"). Then again, I'm proportioned like a smaller version of one of the giants from Skyrim, so maybe don't read too much into that.
I drank a fair amount of soda back when I worked at the truck shop, but when I was in college, I drank pretty much nothing but milk and iced tea, and now I drink pretty much nothing but beer and water.
Also, CH, I've met you, and while you're not a 6'4" giant, you're far from short. 5'10"-5'11" maybe?

Honestly, I've never actually made it 5 minutes into The Matrix, even owned it for 3 years or so.
It's okay, though it looks REALLY dated nowadays. That and the lore and "science" behind it do not add up (but you've seen Futurama so you know that already).
Just okay, though. Unless you were a pretentious pseudophilosopher back in the early 2000s, in which case it was your bread and butter.

I'm 5'6-7" - I'm not sure, and I don't care enough to clarify at present to myself.
I've always been shorter than most (though not all) of my equally-aged peers. It only bothers me when I try to reach things that are high up. That's what my father-in-law and two of my brothers-in-law are for, though. :D
