Urizen is on Facebook, but seems pretty busy with Urizen Jr. and work. Don't know about Woody.
I misread that as wedding apprenticeship...
EDIT: Rosita, naked history is probably a bit much for 20 to 9 in the morning :P

I think we're on like the 3rd generation of FAWTLfolk to be completely honest. I'm a Gen-2'er myself, I didn't come around until 2009.
The pool of people who were in all three is swiftly dwindling. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think at this point it's down to just CH, FH, David, Amby, Sharoth, and Mike. Maybe a couple others.
*Ahem*
I know I wasn't as active in the first thread, and I didn't start posting in it until page 19, but I was definitely there. Also definitely still here. :)
Yeah I didn't get in until the second thread, so I missed a couple =) Inevitable, really.

In other news, got an hour and a half of work left. I am going to take a nap and catch up to things when I get home. I was out all day yesterday, so I missed chances to write and practice on my new tablet.
No idea if we're having GURPS tomorrow, but I know I still want to pick a recap or two to hand out here since I already mentioned them.

So, I was sound asleep last night and heard a noise that half woke me. It sounded like somebody was in my room trying to open one of those stiff plastic retail packages. Kind of like when you poke a knife or scissors in them, but a lot at once. Sorta like claws. I dozed off again, but it kept happening. Then when I really woke up, it stopped, but it sounded like something was walking very softly in the gravel under my window. I don't have anything plastic like that in my room to make that noise, nor is there anything like it outside.

I would have done a circuit around the house with either a stick or the family machete, depending.

Something similar happened to me when I lived in a very rural area. So I warned everyone online in case something bad happened to me and went outside with a shotgun... And frightened a pair of children who had spray paint cans half out of their minds, serves them right I was terrified myself.

Winter can be both dull and awesome. I prefer the overcloud to the sky fire anyhow.

Random updates from the life of NobodysHome (since my download at work looks like it'll take another 22 minutes):
This new place has gone from phone call to test to live interview in 8 days. As one of our friends put it, "Who would you rather work for, the company that takes 6 weeks to decide whether or not to reject you, or the company that's ready to make a decision in 8 days?"
Fingers crossed for her.
On the other hand, I'm having the same fun with dieting that I did with alcohol: 15 days and 6.6 pounds and so far no one has noticed. Will I be able to reach the 77-day mark that I did with alcohol without anyone noticing? I sincerely doubt it, since that's 11 pounds lost even if I only hit my schedule. It'll more likely be 15-20 pounds, and if no one notices that you've lost 10% of your body mass, you might have been a wee bit large. I *hope* I wasn't that large.
Wednesday our house cleaner was over and I warned her that I'd probably have her clean the fridge in a few weeks, but I wanted to empty it out first, and of course I'd pay her extra for her troubles. Then I had to go off to help my mother-in-law with computer issues. When I got back, our cleaner had gone ahead and totally cleaned our fridge for free. Because we're "nice to her" by treating her like a human being, being concerned for her well-being, and paying her a living wage.
What kind of world is it that practicing simple kindness, consideration, and having a decent work ethic is so unusual?
OK. Looks like my download is complete. Speaking of work...

A world where those sorts of things are rarely rewarded, but their counterparts quite often reap benefits, so the former are rarely performed.
In short, this one.
"The optimist believes we live in the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears this is true."

At the edge of (my side of) the world - Ireland. You know, the place just before textures end, and the water falls into the infinite abyss beyond which is only an imaginary land of America.

Argh! Supervillains only aspire to the level of evil my insurance company achieves on a daily basis. :(
Our "standard" with UHC was:
(1) File claim for our son's (covered) speech therapy.(2) Have claim denied.
(3) Call insurance company. Have phone operator assure us that there was no reason for the claim to have been denied, and that she would re-file it "right away".
(4) Repeat 1-4 times until the claim was actually paid.
(This was what led up to my infamous, "HR sics a VP on UHC" moment: They managed to delay the claims until I had around 6 months and several thousand dollars in unpaid claims, and I threatened to file a formal complaint with the state.)
The most amazing part? UHC is only the SECOND-worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. HealthNet was worse by a country mile. At least UHC pays your in-network claims without any hassles...

Ah, Ireland! Where you can rent a car to take it around the Ring of Kerry, crack the windshield, lose a hubcap, dent the fender, and have the rental place consider it "normal wear and tear" for that particular road and not charge you anything.
I've always appreciated Ireland for that one...

We're insured by Satan...I mean Cigna. I keep getting those confused. Can't imagine why. :/
Current drama involves a two week gap on my diabetes meds that they will not help with at all. And since it costs as much as rent to pay for it out of pocket, I am waiting on a call from my doctor to see what I should do next.

Ugh, Sorry to hear that! Yeah, "Cigna" is on our S-list as well.
In fact, pretty much every health insurer except Blue Cross has stunk for us. And we probably didn't give them a chance...
