I just came up with a terrible story idea that is essentially "Magical Girl Genre meets the themes of Death Note while trying hard not to be Madoka Magica"

the hardest part will be developing a style that appears archetypically moe but can be convincingly contorted into one of the many creepy, insane faces of Kira.

Wow I can't believe I came up with this concept in the course of a couple hours

優輝のプリティ正義 Yuuki no Pretty Seigi:

Yuuki uses a glaive. Her image color might be blue and gold. She is short, slight and round-faced.

In the beginning, Yuuki is a high school girl with idealistic but vague beliefs about how the world should work. When the glaive drops into her life one day, she realizes that she can use its incredible power to change the world for the better. She decides to start by fighting crime. Initially she only incapacitates criminals and allows police to take care of them, but eventually starts killing them herself. Yuuki becomes increasingly megalomaniacal over time, eventually proclaiming herself and other Magical Girls to be gods (which she assumes to be her allies in justice by default, and any magical girl who disagrees with her to be a traitor and unworthy of her weapon) and the rightful arbiters of what is just.

Soon she meets Misaki, who’d also found a magic weapon. Misaki agrees to fight crime with Yuuki, but comes to doubt her methods when she starts taking the matter of killing them into her own hands, but is too timid to confront her. Yuuki is friendly to Misaki up until she realizes that the latter is intimidated by her and disagrees with her methods. When Misaki suggests that maybe they should part ways, Yuuki strikes her, calling her a traitor, saying that Magical Girls should work in teams and if she didn’t believe in justice, she didn’t deserve her weapon.

Misaki is a year older than Yuuki and taller than her by a whole head, also round-faced, and somewhat chubby. Her hair is long and wavy and she wears glasses. Image color is pink and white. Her weapon is yet to be determined.

Apathetic mascot/guide of some sort, nature of which to be determined. Destiny/prophecy decidedly NOT a part of how ordinary people become magical girls.

Supernatural background providing the weapons and a reason why they are provided yet to be determined. Perhaps tied to emotions. — Miasma created by wicked emotions, needs to be dispelled with magic

The further on the story goes, the worse the miasma gets, created by Yuuki’s cruel behavior. She becomes increasingly frustrated by this, believing the miasma to be caused by criminals, but it’s really being caused by herself.

Yuuki at some point decided that as long as there are people with wicked emotions in the world, miasma will keep coming back after it is dispelled, so she decides to go straight to the source and kill people who are full of evil emotions, starting first with the obvious ones such as criminals.

A heavy concentration of miasma forms into a demon (working name). Demons prey on humans and can only be killed with magic weapons.

Misaki is upper class and goes to a prestigious private school and a cram school but has consistently poor grades no matter how hard she tries. However she is something of an artist and a go insei, but not ready yet for the pro exam. Her parents are distant and hardworking, and are harsh on her for having poor grades and making slow progress as insei.

Yuuki is middle class and goes to a public school. She plays lacrosse and videogames and gets high grades, and is a fan of popular long-running shounen series. Has no idea what she wants to do with her life in the future. Nature of parents yet to be determined.

Its interesting you should say that. I was so tempted to take some pictures yesterday but I didnt. Now I wish I had.

Katz is on the lower east side -one of the more famous neighborhoods in manhattan. People assume that it is packed wall to wall with people, but it is not- les is too many tiny sidestreets and dead end alleyways to support the kind of crowds you see in midtown. In fact, the lower east side was empty to the point of near ghost town yesterday because of the rain. It was so eerie, because the only people on the street were the people who wanted to be someplace else, which is very NOT like new York outside of hideous stereotypes. There is a lot of empty space in new york in certain neighborhoods, solitude can be found just about anywhere, truth be told, even in Midtown if you are willing to walk far enough.

As for katz itself, it was crowded, but katz is always crowded in that a swell of people show up, go to the front, get their food, and leave- very businesslike and efficient. It would be Chaos if it was like what tv made it seem like but that's not true.

This is the most New York place in all of New York. Tourists are easily detected as they try to say they were there first and accusing someone of cutting them off in line.

The guy in front of the place I staked out ordered at least 100 dollars of food. These sandwiches are made my hand painstakingly, so it required patience- a bit more than I was willing to give to him at first, until I looked down and noticed the luggage he was walking with. Clearly he had come home from some place far away, maybe even the wrong coast, so I let him wade into some real New York food.

Chili dog and ice cream...

You order at the counter amid an assortment of tourists...
The food is made by hand, and is good...
This sounds like a number of places in Grand Haven, Michigan. Home of the Coast Guard Festival, some of the best beaches in the world (the best if you prefer fresh water over salt water), and of course a place you will drive in circles for over an hour looking for a good parking spot.

Apparently not. The last woman they gave the Enterprise keys to was Captain Garrett, who accidentally created a rip in space-time and got sucked into the future, then got killed by Klingons, leaving f@+&ing Shooter McGavin to get the ship back through the rift. No wonder Janeway got stuck with the Voyager...

The reason Manhattan and Brooklyn are fighting over who created the egg cream is because neither of them want the honor. Egg creams are disgusting, and once a clear winner is decided, they'll finally be formally shamed in public by the rest of the United States.

Seriously, though, what kind of a sick f*~@ thought, "Hey, you know what would make this chocolate milk better? Seltzer water!"
