*sigh*
Just lost my bike lock on the train. It must have slid off my shoulder, I have no idea how. It's replaceable, but f!##, it ws a beautiful chain lock. I'm considering going to the lost and found for the MTA because seriously- who is going to make use of a lock with no key- but god above if this isn't the last thing I need...

YOU know what? No. I will look for the bike lock over the weekend, but I am NOT letting this get me down. If necessary I will get another lock. One that can fit in my bag as much as I LOVED this chain lock, it was heavy as hell and the lock itself was starting to go. I'm upset at the loss, but I'm not letting it break me. I need to get my bike looked at anyway- picking up a new lock is just another thing to get me to the bike shop that much faster.

Cosmo holds the eternal title of Universal Scapegoat.
Scapegoat of the Year is a pity title he allows lesser scapegoats to wear and fight among for themselves. Which you have to admit, being second-best in this case is not bad at all. After all, it is Cosmo you're going up against.

Freelanceapalooza is over for the time being. Once I took a look at how much I had actually written, I calculated that I worked on 40,000 words worth of material over the course of 3 weeks.
I'll be taking a break tomorrow (er, later today), and I hope to spend some of that time looking at skipped posts. :)
Good night!

Morning folks. Here's hoping ye all have a good day today. Weather is bright and clear atm, but I got soaked by a sudden shower yesterday afternoon, so I still have an umbrella with me. Out on audit today and tomorrow, time consuming stuff, but solid work. Also, kidlet this weekend! w00t! That is all. Peace out.

I got 250 here, working on my latest project for RS.
Granted that's how I usually work - little bits here and there over the duration of the project allowance rather than in one or two big chunks.

Returned home yesterday from my 3000 mile journey to Minnesota and back. It was a great holiday as I got to be with my mother on her birthday and Easter (same day this year) along with my youngest son.
Also caught up with some former colleagues on the way up and back.
Finally, my return path took me through Champaign, IL home of the University of Illinois. It will be 25 years in May when I graduated from there. I walked around campus and snapped a few photos. The campus has not changed much.
And neither has Papa Del's, famous for its Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza. Nom, Nom, Nom. Ordered two pies and brought them home to Texas to eat. It was delicious.
Today's agenda, phone interview and calling about a possible business venture.

Anyway, Thursday - so work, meal out and Star Wars roleplaying.
I didn't say they were creative or interesting, but they were 1.5 cents per word. For all the time I spent on research and rewrites, I netted about $3/hour. :(

I make far less than minimum wage for my writing too, for much the same reasons.

We need to move to Detroit, where they're giving houses away to writers.

please don't use that phrase,
it is from the first stanza of the "song of the Germans" by Friedrich heinrich Hoffmann zu Fallerslebenand was used by the Nazis as National Anthem. To sing that is only done by neo-nazis. and the phrase is only used by them.
We use only the third Stanza "unity and justice and freedom, for our German fatherland" as anthem today

Why was even the third stanza kept? Why not scrap everything?
because the song was important in the first democratic revolution 1848 and the first republic 1918.
it was written as a protest song when Germany was splintered into hundreds of petty princedoms, baronies and small kingdoms.it was ment as a song of unity and freedom.
the first stanza got his bad reputation in the Third Reich when the Nazis marched singing it and the third stanza is quit peaceful and beautiful

Unfortunate that they ruined something so historic. I know Germany is an amalgamation of numerous smaller states that were almost forbidden to unify and almost became a part of France entirely. So much history there.

by the way:
the melody of the Song of the Germans was originally a Austrian Anthem called "Kaiserhymne" (Emporeres Anthem) with the text:
God protect Franz the Emporer,
our good Emporer Franz"
the melody is by Josef Haydn
the German Emporer of the second realm used the melody of the British Anthem with the text:
"hail to you victory crowned,
father of our fatherland
hail Emporer"
the comunist German Democratic Republic had a Anthem that could be sung to their own Melody and to Haydns melodie with the text:
"reborn from ruins,
and facing the future,
I will serv to protect you,
Germany, united Fatherland"
but they stopped sining the last sentence because a united Germnay was the goal of West-Germnay but not of East- Germany
