More dinosaurs, prehistoric reptiles/synapsids, and megafauna are always good.

Well they anounced a Beastiary III

So far the monsters that are known: all the monsters from the bonus beastiary, grave knights, kaiju, kappa, sleipnirs, more sphinxes, savage cyclopes, imperial dragons, clockwork killers, and vanaras

Demilich as well, confirmed in Undead Revisited.

Oh really, demilich was confirmed as well, sweet.

I hope the kappa are Fey instead of aberration, magical beast, m. humaniod, etc.

I hope the Kaiju is a template like before.

Shadow Lodge

Abominations
Candarian Demon (as from The Evil Dead)
Lavawight
Shadow of the Void
Shape of Fire
Pseudonatural Template

And of course...

Byakhee
Chthonian
Dhole
Flying Polyp
Great Race of Yith
Insect from Shaggai
Moon-Beast
Nightgaunt

On a semi-related note to the last group, I'd also like to see some information given for Tsathoggua as a deity, not necessarily in Bestiary 3, but someplace eventually.

Problem is, most of those are not inventions of Lovecraft himself, but of his shared world collaborators (Derleth, Lumley, Bloch) and haven't entered public domain yet.

Giths are IP, sorry.

There's too much aberrations, still I'd like to see the Great Race of Yith and their enemies, maybe for the epic book.

thats why I said anything that hates and eats aberations and especialy Cthulu look alikes.

Do we have grues yet? Bearbears need to be in there, too.

Proteans.

Gith sees star-spawn.

Gith wets itself.
Gith goes insane.
Star-spawn steps on gith.

More agathions

Sovereign Court

Actually, i'd like to have less outsiders and more of the material bound creatures...especially more constructs, fey, oozes and plants...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

More Astral plane natives.

More Plane of shadows natives.

Cats of Aucturn (see cats of saturn, from lovecrafts writing)

Gloam foxs

Fay animals

Yith and polyps are lovecraft creations (shadow out of time). As are nightgaunts (nightgaunt and dreamquest) and moon-beasts (dreamquest). While byakhee appeared in the festival. Dhole are from the Dream quest and through the gates of the silver key.

I believe you are right. I know that the Great Race and the Polyps are Lovecraft's. Likewise, I know that the chthonians and the Shan are NOT Lovecraft's (Lumley and Campbell, IIRC). The others, I believe are Loevcraft's, but I'm not sure about it, as they various Mythos authors (for the most part) freely borrowed from each other.

It's a little sad to learn that some authors go against Lovecraft's wishes that other authors freely share their creations, since some of the allure of the Mythos is the manner in which it was jointly created. While I myself and a bit of a Lovecraft purist, I also recognize that without the additional contributions of other authors, he might never have achieved the fame he currently holds.

You might want to check out the purist adventures for trail of cthulhu. The dying of st margrets and the dance in the blood are great and embody that bleak, cosmic hopelessness the best of lovecraft's waking world stories had

1 person marked this as a favorite.

More Fey(more than 12 at least)

more Rakshasa, Lamia, Linnorms, Hags, Tanes, Giants, Golems, sea monsters, Titans, and more creatures fom the positive energy plane

No more devils and demons(at least for while)

Some more Angels, Azatas, Qlippoths, Proteons, Archons, Agathions, but not a lot

A playable Fey race(s)

a few small dragons like the Psuedo or faerie (what used to be called dragonnets)

The Gorynych would be cool as well

Hopeful Bestiary 3 contains not only Oni, but Youkai and other oriental creatures, with correct names, folklore and abilities that fit the folklore.

Unlike the under-powered Genasi rip offs called Ifrit, Oread, Sylph, and Undine which also were incorrectly named and were way off from the folklore of their names (thou the element (fire, earth, air, water) part was right) in Bestiary 2.

I also hope that some of the creatures are configurable and that their are race options like in the APG for some of the PC races.

Definitely needs all of the creature and ghost types from Takashi Shimizu's "The Great Horror Family," such as the home remodeling ghost. *nods emphatically*

I didn't read most of the previous posts, and if this has been mentioned before, good ideas bear repeating.

A reasonable 0HD Medium reptilian humanoid for PCs to take. Besides Kobolds, there are no 0HD reptilian humanoids. Furthermore, Kobolds are small, so players wanting to play a medium reptilian humanoid must go to a 3rd party, house rule, or deal with monster advancement rules.

Besides, some cool Dragon-kin like race would be a great addition to Pathfinder.

And more Dragons in general, Dragons are cool.

Just play a kobold with the Giant simple template. :)

Greater Medusa (the ones with tails instead of legs) and Oni from the old school Oriental Adventures. I don't care if they look or have the same stats, I just want the molten metal breath.

Nice, Going for it, but only if I can squeeze it in my budget with Jade Regent and the other goodies coming out in July/August.

That is both pretty cool and strange, and I'm totally gonna try and do that in my next campaign (And because I'm greedy the dragon-breath template as well).

The Giant simple template is strange though. In the SRD it's listed as both CR+1, and CR+0, with no guide line as to when each happens, so a GM would still have to do some house ruling.

Nope, just listed as +1

Unless it was long pork, I'm fine with it not being chicken.

No problem. It was longcat.

Dweomercats, more creatures from folklore the world over (including but not limited to divs, buraq, various yōkai, and that big evil heinous nuckelavee), maybe a few more familiars (improved and otherwise), and possibly a few more class-level-defined races (although I understand you guys want to keep those relatively limited).

Can we get new write-ups for the Divs from the Legacy of Fire AP?

KaeYoss wrote:

Started out as a rumor...but suddenly grewwwwwww...

(And yes, I'm aware that the nuckelavee is older than that. It's always been one of my favorite pieces of nightmare fuel.)

Also: asuras, tophets, hadhayoshes, rukhs, simurghs, maftets, and more fey.

Do you know the folklore of the creature, if you do please share it, I'm all ears.

Ideally in a Kobold Quarterly article.

Azure_Zero wrote:

The legend originated in the Orkney Isles, off the coast of Scotland. Normally, it was kept imprisoned by a sea goddess. But it sometimes broke free (usually when people were burning kelp for soda ash, which annoyed it) and spread plagues, crop blights, and even droughts.

It would also directly attack people, although getting a stream between it and you was generally an effective deterrent: It had an aversion to fresh running water.

Nice, and it has one of the same weaknesses of the vampire.

Just a few things I'd love to see...

Neanderthal (preferably as a Human subtype race)

The Great Race of Yith in three parts: a Template which explains the changes when they trade minds with an individual, the base race that exists on ancient Earth so that any unlucky PC to be so traded has a body and can still play as one *awesome* and a monstrous humanoid Beetle-like race that could stand in as the Coleopterous Race for their next migration.

More Oni, especially of the Tengu and Goblinoid variety.

Flying Polyps

Oriental inspired Dragons

A low CR construct that has "Berserk" like ability, where it breaks free, but instead gains intelligence and free will. I'd just love to have a secret society of those guys in my world.

Maybe some Planetouched Races that originate from non-human stock.

something for the Dire Corbies to worship... can you say Deep Crow, one that has age categories like a Dragon.

and just because... a donkey, lol

First some creatures Ive heard about in my travels that would make good additions to bestiary 3

Yowie, Skunk ape, Almas, and Yeren (all off shoots of bigfoot/yeti)
Ropen
Kongamato
Tokeloshe
Mamlambo
Ahool
Aswang
Ninki Nanka
Kikiyoan
Salawa
Taniwha
Mngwa
Kappa
Kalanoro
Fangalobolo
Ucamar
Namibian Night stalker

As for other ideas

1. We need some more smaller dragons. Drakes were nice but smaller dragons like felldrakes and the Ninki Nanka would be a nice addition
2. Ravids and many other positive energy plane creatures
3. More Agathions. Specifically equinals, Ursidals (Bear agathion), and Pachydermals (elephant/rhino/mastadon type Agathion)
4. Psychic dragons based around nature
5. Gem dragons (I know they couldnt do psychic and gem dragons so Ill settle for them being magic)
6. More Linnorms
7. More dinosaurs. Specifically Pachycephalosaurus, Ichthyosaurus, Mosasaurus, Dimetrodon, Igaunadon
8. More golems. Specifically Grave dirt, tombstone, Bone, Dragon Skin, and most importantly Paper
9. Modrons!
10. Lawful and chaotic aligned Planetouched

More Angels, why not?! I'd like a conversion of the 2nd Ed Agathinon!

Liberty's Edge

One race I would love to see is Ronin Arts' Possessor. It's 100% Open Content, so that's no problem. It also fits with all the dark Lovecraftian feel of the Pathfinder setting. I would love to see this in a bestiary, or even a Campaign Setting book.

Windcaler wrote:

9. Modrons!

I agree on the Modrons, but since (as far as I am aware) Modrons aren't Open Content, so Paizo would probably have to change the name and some stats to make it different enough as to avoid legal whatsit..
