May since it was a legacy weapon he took that thing where it comes back to him in like 24 hours.

How doubly fortunate that the story's twists have the ship go back to that ridge where Roy dropped the Greenhilt sword ;-D

Well titled.

At least now we can focus on getting Roy's sword back.

Also there are times Elan REALLY needs to learn to not say anything.

So now that there are no frost giants and the ship is running fine, I hope we don't have to spend more than a few panels to find Roy's sword.

Apparently, there are downsides to being a super-advanced stealth flying dinosaur.

Like not being able to defeat a potato.

Potatoes are tough man!

At least the party is making fun of him more then I wanted too when he dropped his sword. Give him hell sticks!

1078: But If You Try Sometimes

And that was kind of awesome.

6 people marked this as a favorite.

No it was very awesome since now we don't have to spend more panels on it. That and you know now we can get the story back on track.

Sort of.

Roy didn't need to learn how to shoot fire from his sword. The ability to chuck it at far away enemies and call it back to his hands was within his heart all along.

Pwok!

If you love something, chuck it at your enemies.

If it stays stuck in them, you've got a hell of a strength bonus.

If it comes back, it was your legacy weapon all along.

I called this! Called it!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You did, though he seems to be able to call it at will once he knows that he can instead of waiting 24 hours.

yeah but I was real close.

Still rather it shoot more fireballs of killing undead, but eh.

I disagree. I think this is actually perfect for Roy's style.

Eh from a I've played a fighter with a legacy weapon before standpoint. I couldn't care to much about fireballs as long as it kept making me better at the hack n slash. I'd rather have another +1 then a 3per day fireball at least at his level. (which I feel there all pretty high level at this point.)

Also I love the throw it away and see if it teleports back again. I had a character do the exact same thing.

Ok, I laughed.

Gosh, given how many times someone has to grab someone who's about to fall overboard or something in this strip, a sword that you can't lose by dropping it sounds pretty awesome. Roy's pretty much the go-to guy for leaping to save someone, personality-wise, so not having to cling to his beatstick suits him.

Doubly so since AFAIK he still does not carry a ranged weapon ;-P

Y'know, for all his pretensions of being intelligent, Roy keeps making that most basic of mistakes...

He doesn't have as much hammerspace as the rest. Haley keeps several Bags of Holding and an arbitrarily large number of arrows. Roy keeps what, a few potions?

He could at least carry a sling.

Or if nothing else, a dagger. Anything to at least serve as a backup weapon.

Haley's hammerspace is home depot.

I remember a game may years ago. The bad guy was getting away, so my front liner barbarian busted out his longbow and shot at him. Another player was astonished that he carried a bow. He also carried a morning star and a dagger. Just seemed like common sense to me.

I can see everybody with just one weapon here, though, for story purposes.

I guess I think returning weapons should only be on hammers named Mjolnir.

Have you never seen Captain America throw his shield? Or Xena throw her chakram? Or Captain Boomerang?

Or Colossus throwing his fastball? That thing kept coming back like a bad penny.

Unless you are plane, or a bomb, or some ice, or a brain-washed-buddy-with-a-robotic-arm. Then you don't necessarily have to yield!

I kept thinking our beloved Captain will pull a Batman and do three strikes and then kick her butt. But this works too.

1080: Clever Blasting God Stoppers

First time I can remember a Saturday update in quite awhile. I think the title is a reference to the film adaption of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I just like that ending. Mostly because I thought Thyrm was more about "I want my frost apocalypse!"

Actually, Everlasting Gobstoppers were in the original 1964 book.

That doesn't actually make 137ben wrong. ;)

Where did Mr. Burlew get the reference from?

IN any case,

I'm looking forward to more movement on this arc and hopefully we can get back to "RACE FOR THE GATE!"

says something about the lich when a god is a miniboss

Well Thrym is more demi-god I thought. But yeah.

Intermediate, actually!

(Just in case you're curious, it goes quasi-deity at rank 0, demigod at rank 1, lesser god at rank 6, intermediate at rank 11, greater at rank 16, and over-god/ubergod/etc. at rank 21+ or higher. More here. Rich could be using different rules, though!)

Tact,

Good find! I thought he wasn't that highly ranked. But good find nonetheless!

"Thrym is a hulking menace, appearing as a mighty frost giant with white eyes, blue hair, and a constant snarl."

Who could say no to that for a consort? XD
