Can a PC in PFS buy a cursed item? If so, how much does it cost?

While I couldn't find a specific rule against cursed items I did find on pg 33 of the Society Guide a restriction against using any of the cursed items in the Advanced Players Guide.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to own a cursed item?

As a general rule... no. If we do ever intend for a cursed item to be available to PCs for purchase, it'll show up as a specific reward for playing an adventure on a chronicle sheet, I suspect. They're certainly not items that are "regularly stocked" for purchase.

There's also a post from josh in one of the first FAQ threads about cursed items, saying because of the issues with pricing them, they fit under the crafting rules (or something to that effect) and were therefor not allowed

To be a male changeling (gender alteration) ! Because changelings get +5% to concelment, d4s are more fun (and dnd) than %ile, you like the metal oracles dance of the blades but will be dammed if you will play a .. female.. blind swordsman because they have kissy germs !!

Epic thread necromancy aside, I know of no boon which allows one to play as a Changeling, so the point is moot.

On that topic, I think there is a season 4 scenario with a cursed item as a reward and I think there's an early scenario with a belt of gender bending involved. If I remember right anyway.

Cursed items can have quite a bit of utility if you think outside the box...

Ring of Truthfulness... Interrogating prisoners
Robe of Helplessness... Restraining prisoners
Girdle of Opposite Alignment... Instant disguise
Bag of Devouring... Garbage disposal/porta-potty

Ring of Truthfulness could be used to troll fellow players.

Robe of Helplessness as well.

Girdle of Opposite Gender doesn't change the person's basic appearance, making it useless as a disguise.

Bag of Devouring could also be used to troll players. "Yeah, put that stuff in my... Bag of... Holding... yeah."

Helm of Opposite Alignment could be used to kick people out of play, as no evil alignments are allowed in PFS, and many classes have alignment requirements.

As a DM I would place this kinda stuff in the jerk rule and not even consider allowing .

There is an archetype for bard called Hoaxer. Gets access to purchase a few cursed items. For gender swapping there is an elixir of it in advanced class guide. Sleep well thread. Maybe...

For gender swapping, IIRC, there is a post by Mike Brock when he was OPC, that you could just swap genders pretty much at will, since there is almost no mechanical effect from doing so.

Between scenarios, but yeah.

So this post from James has been referenced a couple times where I've asked this question, and I'd rather not make an entirely new thread for a question that I'm pretty sure is a solid "no"...but are Mindborer Ioun Stones from Seeker of Secrets PFS legal? The additional resources page says "Everything in this book is legal for play with the following notes", which has misled at least one other person on the net (see: the editor of Archive of Nethys), who has listed it as PFS legal. But I've seen other people use the post in this thread to say that it is not PFS legal because it is a cursed item. The fact it has no set price further leads me to believe that it is not legal unless it shows up on a chronicle sheet.
