Yes, thank you, Shifty. And it's why I'm here now.
Folks, Shifty is looking for an LoF game. His concept sounds quite intriguing - would you be happy for me to write him in to this game?
As his character plans to be roaming the desert, if you are happy to have him he will come riding over a dune shortly and join the caravan...

Hi Megan,
Just so people have a chance to look and consider what it's all about I have included a link to my LFG post.
As a side note, and especially for the GM, I am certainly happy to work collaboratively to building the character in a balanced and productive manner, and to contribute to some good rp & storytelling - indeed to do my part to ensure the game becomes 'a ripping great yarn' (Def:slang, Australia: 'A very good tale') :)
Appreciate the consideration guys,
"I'm small, I don't eat much, and I wont get you thrown out of a tavern"
(ps: any concerns questions or doubtful points, please raise them)

Talahel here.
Very interesting concept. I just have a couple of questions:
1) Since you can communicate telepathically, does that mean you have the ability to read character's thoughts? And that you can virtually speak any language?
2) How many levels of pseudodragon do you have to go before you start taking class levels?
3) I noticed you are heading toward the oracle path. We already have an oracle so I think its up to her if we take another oracle into the party.
4) You're draft reflects a 15 point build, which I appreciate to help match the level of the other characters. Do you intend to stick with the 15 point build?
As long as we can incorporate you without overshadowing any current characters I have no problem with you joining.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the warm welcome, I appreciate the consideration given and would like to answer some of the questions raised.
1) Since you can communicate telepathically, does that mean you have the ability to read character's thoughts? And that you can virtually speak any language?
Telepathy allows you to communicate with other creatures and both understand and be understood, regardless of language, within 60'.
However that is to say that both sides have to be actively communicating - if two Gnolls were standing about having a conversation with each other then it would be gobbledygook if I was simply eavesdropping. Similarly it gives no capacity to read their thoughts. It also doesn't give any capacity to read any unfamiliar languages.
2) How many levels of pseudodragon do you have to go before you start taking class levels?
According to the chapter on Monsters as PC's, I would be required to roll in a level behind the party, ie I should hit 1 when you hit too. Over time that level is (by RAW) technically able to be caught up, but I'm not fussed. Short term it means that, all things being equal, I would have an advnatage due to abilitites however...
4) You're draft reflects a 15 point build, which I appreciate to help match the level of the other characters. Do you intend to stick with the 15 point build?
...sure. I hadn't originally done a stat build until I was picjked up for a campaign that was then dropped before it started. The party was speculatively a 20 point buy, so the GM and I decided 15 was a good place to start so that we could examine what it might look like fleshed out, and then balance to taste from there.
As it is, I think it works out quite well, and the character is pretty solid and well rounded. Has some nice features, and also has some hefty drawbacks. My understanding is that you guys are a 32 point build, so I'd be more than comfy rolling in as written in light of that discrepancy. On the other hand, once play commences, if there is a growing concern of the build being over or under powered, I am happy to scale (pardon the pun) up or down accordingly. I wouldn't like to be in the position of upstaging a party, but not to keen on being nerfed to blazes :p
3) I noticed you are heading toward the oracle path. We already have an oracle so I think its up to her if we take another oracle into the party.
As per the primer, my direction would be to go into the path of Flames, and the Curse would be that of Tongues. The confusiuon of a reptilian brain in trouble screeching out in a Celestial Tongue seeking guidance from his spiritual guide appeals.
Obviously this would cut across and render Telepathy useless in various circumstances, but its thematic so I can deal with the short term loss.
On another note, PD's start as 2HD, however so what is the progression for the second die? Max HP on THOSE is kinda much.

Thanks for the answers. As far as question #4 goes, the original GM had an epic campaign in mind and therefore proposed a 32 point buy. However, with the new GM, we scaled back to a 25 point buy. That said your 15 point buy seems like a good starting point, and also we can scale up or down as needed.
And I saw up thread that the other oracle has no problem with two oracles, so I say "Welcome aboard!"
As a suggestion, why not max out the HD on your first roll and take the average roll for the second die.

Aurichalcum |

Cheers Tordek, I am happy to have answered those questions as no doubt they would have crossed a few minds :)
Noted on the HP, and I think your suggestion is excellent.
Once given the final nod that the character is satisfactory (or given any suggested changes), I will be happy to work on an intro with the GM, or simply glide in on the next favourable wind as the GM fancies!

This is Variel, I'd second Auri being given a place here, if needed. From what I've seen of him so far, he's been polite even with some irritating people (don't make a liar out of me, Auri).
On a more selfish note, I can envision Variel giving a mischievous pseudodragon all sorts of interesting things to dive-bomb or drop to help out his effectiveness in combat.

Aurichalcum |

Shifty you have an email sent your way send me your reply when you get a chance.
Done, email reply sent.

Bad behaviour on the part of other people shouldn't be an excuse for bad behaviour on mine... :)

Lovely, thank you everyone.
Shifty, feel welcome to ride over a sand dune and see a stray goat hotly pursued by a middle-aged lady on a small donkey, a caravan of camels travelling along behind them... or, do make your appearance in the game thread :)
Welcome aboard.

Hi Guys, I had a brief exchange with Tahlu about a possible angle that might allow a more elegant tie in to the party.
I went ahead and quickly put together a further back story that might accomplish that, however subject to Tahlu and our GM being satisfied with it...
If thats ok, Ill go and post up in the 'official' thread my arrival and intro :)

The intimidating and wild looking Elf bore a grim and determined look as he cut his way through the crowded bazaar; the riot of colours and the incessant barking of vendors pleading with shoppers to consider their wears was slowly starting to take their toll on his patience, and the strange scents – a mix of exotic herbs laced with unwashed camel was doing nothing to improve his already taxed reserves of goodwill.
”The sooner we are out of this stinking hole the better” he grumbled as he took a bearing toward the caravan suppliers; his eyes had caught on some particularly study looking canteens and the other obvious wares spoke of decent and robust quality, piquing his interest.
The desert barbarians passage did not go unnoticed; a pair of eyes had spied him as he passed, a pair of eyes that were particularly drawn to a glinting jewel in the barbarians ear – an earring carved in the shape of a dragon clutching an onyx tear drop. “Kismet?” thought the concealed observer, who decided that it was worth following the tattooed giant to better ascertain his character...and possible danger.
* * * * *
“To your left”. The Barbarian had half drawn his blade, bewildered by the sudden voice inside his head; he reflexively looked to the left and saw only another merchant sculptors stand selling statues of various gaudy animals and beasts of the desert. Considering that it had been a very hot day, and he had maybe become more tired than he thought from his day in the market, he quickly dismissed the incident and shook his head gently.
“No, come closer”. This time he span twice as fast, blade fully drawn, and casting a dour and suspicious eye at the group of statues, who all appeared to be casting their glassy unblinking eyes back. He advanced warily towards them, alert for trickery and treachery around him, and looked closer. It seemed they were all still looking at him too. A small statuette of a cat appeared to almost be mocking him, but he couldn’t be certain.
After a few moments stillness, and a growing awareness he was becoming a bit of a strange sight taking a defensive stance against inanimate objects, he once again put away his blade and began curiously looking over the statues.
His eyes were taking in the amazingly detailed work of a large dragon figurine, and marvelling at the sheen of its beautiful brass scales, the masterfully etched facial features. Then it moved.
And so it was that Aurichalcum became known to Tahlumilali Auvreaanea.
Auri had been observing the markets knowing that traders and wanderers might bring stories and legends of dragons across the shifting desert sands, and had taken the strange Elven warriors earring to be a sign of being a friend to dragon kin. Sadly, the wanderer bore no news of Auri’s lost ancestors, but they did find an easy comfort in each others’ company – after the initial shock – and promised they would meet again soon, as after all “the desert is a big place, but the friendly parts of it aren’t” .
It has been several moons since then, and the desert sands once again favour travel...

After reading Auri's backstory post it occurs to me that Tahl looks very intimidating. 6'5 covered in Tattoos from the neck down. I just have to put some ranks into it next level. Also Auri you can now edit the site just take the player 7 spot.

Brave Sir Robin ran away. Bravely ran away, away! When danger reared its ugly head, He bravely turned his tail and fled. Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about And gallantly he chickened out. Bravely taking to his feet He beat a very brave retreat, Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!
He is packing it in and packing it up And sneaking away and buggering up And chickening out and pissing off home, Yes, bravely he is throwing in the sponge..
What I was sure this was how all adventurous people wanted to be remembered right?

Thank you, Havoc!
Here the local DMs actually require me to sing at the table when playing bards!
Some are in here!

Tahlumilali Auvreaanea |

Auri have you gone to the group's site and put your character on it? If you don't have a google account you need to make one using the email you gave me.

Tahlumilali Auvreaanea |

I'm having a lot of fun with this one. I love how everything is going along. Also am very much enjoying the dialog. Just wondering should I do the journal updates when we hit each new level, or some other way. Any suggestions?

So noted, have a good trip. I'll take care of Talahel - if everyone stops talking long enough for me to squeeze some plot in sideways, that is :)
Which doesn't mean shut up, folks. I'm letting the conversation run its course, then the next bit of plot will happen...

Happy thanksgiving everyone. Enjoy your turkey.

It's cold and rainy here - I haven't quite dared to go outside yet, so I cannot verify reports of it being "the coldest ever." My brother tends to exaggerate, so I don't quite believe his reports, but I'm still not willing to risk my general warmth and comfort for the cause of investigative journalism.

Apologies - the job hunting went crazy this past week: three interviews, each lasting a whole day, on three successive days - the third I only found out about when I got home at 6pm after the second one, and then had to write a 15-minute presentation for it!
Now scampering around to sort out my games.
Job hunting is so time-consuming. I'd rather be working: I'd have far more time for you good folks...
