I have seven players in my game and I always end up adding an NPC to the mix. This time around it is the Magus. Dwarf, currently 2nd level in ROTRL vol 1.
So... yeah I have one character on the go. But I am also the DM, so the other way to look at it is I am playing X-7 people in my universe.
That way makes me feel all important :).

I think it's necessary to have more than one after a while, or you are really limited on who you can play with and what mods you can play
This is very true, particularly as you start reaching the higher levels. If you don't have low- and mid-level characters, then you'll have to wait while other players in your area catch up to you.
Also be careful to advance your chracters evenly if possible, otherwise you may find a) they catch up with each other, which means while you have two characters, being the same level limits your Tier opportunities; or b) the gap between them widens, meaning you can play low or high, but can't join a mid-Tier table.
I currently have three characters: level 1, 3 and 9 - I'm feeling the gap between 3 and 9 right now, particularly as all new scenarios released to the end of the year will be Tier 5+
Also, if you're likely to need a secondary (or tertiary) character, spend some time developing him now, before you actually need it - eg, always have one more character prepared than you're currently playing. I'm enjoying my level 3 and 9 characters, because I spent the time thinking about and developing interesting character backgrounds, and then building the characters stats around that concept. However, my level 1 was a random pre-gen I grabbed during a con because unexpectedly I was needed as a 4th player to make a low-level table - I really can't get into his mindset, so sadly I've abandoned him and haven't played him since.
Even if your main character is high level, it's important to create opportunities for new players to join a game, which is another important reason for having a low-level character and not always playing high.
Cheers,
DarkWhite

I have 4 active characters and four 1st level characters.
Paladin - 8th
Summoner/Druid - 4th/1st
Barbarian/Cleric - 1st/1st
Barbarian - 1st (1 scenario)
I recommend keeping you PC's 3 level's apart at most. This way you can enjoy almost any scenario. I have seen some players build up an 8th level with only a 1st level as back up. This dooms you for some scenario's.
I GM a bunch too, so spreading the wealth is a little easier.

Been playing PF for a year now, but just started PFS a couple of months ago so all I have is my main (lvl 2 Fighter) and a 1st lvl Bard. The bard only is used when my other 4 friends and I can play as a group. We are all bards with different performs, togethr we are a band :)
P.S. I'm the drummer :)

I usually tell my regional players to have a new character when they reach a new tier. Thus, usually around 4, 8 and of course, retirement. One player has a 5 - one at each of the levels.
I have 5 - three first levels (because the latest one is a Magnus and want to see how that works out), with Goldfrapp the Nekkid Taldoran Trebuchet at 7 and Blue the Vengeful Mite of Cassomir at 5. When you're GMing a lot, you've got to give the right tier character the reward.
All this is really new to me, as I've always been a one character at a time kinda person!
It's all too bad, I really love playing Goldfrapp - there should be no retirement for a naked halfling riding a liger singing Taldane battle hymns.

I have quite a few, mostly because of combining DM credit and playing credit:
1st - Jarina Al'Mullam, Cleric of Sarenrae 9, merchant extrodinaire, with a soft-spot for the needy
2nd - Laur'ul'al Kuhmanna, Fighter 1/Diviner 4, aspiring mwangi elf eldritch knight
3rd - Taraneh Durand - Paladin 2/Bard 2, a confused, dumb, but extremely pretty Taldoran Opera Singer
4th - Jebadiah Lindof - Cavalier 2, a complete ass of a knight based off Alain (Although unintentionally...)

Survivor of Krazy Kyle and his horde of Vampires and Morhgs.

Survivor of Krazy Kyle and his firery red-headed desert harlett.
3rd - Taraneh Durand - Paladin 2/Bard 2, a confused, dumb, but extremely pretty Taldan Opera Singer
Survivor of Nani the Executioner and her Massive Monkey and travelling companion to the best fighter/wizard in PFS. ;-)

I had 5, but have since retired 3 of them. Mainly because they were all 1st level and I wanted to start fresh after the APG came out.
I just kept 2. I GM a lot so over half the scenarios are GM credit. I think I have only both GM'd and played two scenarios. I know for my higher level character 2/3 of the chronicles are scenarios I GM'd.
Human Male Cleric of Zon-Kuthon level 7
Half-Orc Male Transmutation Wizard level 3
Not sure what a new character will be yet, but plan on making one.

I have 3 characters at this point
Cwenburgh 9th level Ranger
Heidie 4th level Barbarion
Gladiola 1st level Paladin.
I am able to play most games that way (except those lovely 12th levels that are coming out now).

You realize that your band will break up as soon as you say "Hey guys, I've got this great idea for a song" :-)
As for the topic at hand, I've been playing PFS for a year now and am just getting into a little GM'ing (three sessions). I have three active characters:
Human barbarian/5 cleric/1
Dwarven monk/2 (who shaves from the waist up and down from the knees)
Elven rogue/2
These characters cover two factions and that's probably the only error, I should have made each a different faction but the Osirion tomb raider trait is a hard one to turn down.

i have 2 3/2 cleric/wizard and 2 pally with 6 gm creds for pally. now i am gm'ing for my old gm and others and finding that may run out of low level mods for him to catch up to the others. started at season 1 #29. may have to go back to season 0. ????? has anyone done a spread sheet of all the mods and there levels so i can copy? this way i can keep track of everyones played or ran mods and plan ahead.
never mind about lists. found wiki lists. seems like there are 33 mods for 1-5 or 1-7 so if need 12 to reach 5th looks like can only get 2 and 1 to 4th. need to work on rest.

Three Characters--
4th level Paladin/1st level Ranger, Andoran. I want to take a break from her.
2nd level Halfling Transmuter, Osirian, two of whose adventures are GM credit.
1st level Taldoran Bone Oracle of Zyphus. Background inspired by Among the Living.

I like this! Shouldn't be too much of a spoiler to suggest you look out for Among the Dead. Wow, do I want to be at your table to see how your character roleplays through that scenario, and the other players reactions to adventuring with a Bone Oracle of Zyphus?
Cheers,

You're welcome to copy the Google Doc I use for keeping track of our scenario play. It has links to all the modules as well as some of our other PFS tracking stuff.

In the Pathfinder Society organized Play, I have 4 active characters. The highest level one is a 10 level Mystic Theurge, The Next highest is a 7th level Inquisitor. The next hieghest is a 3rd level cleric, and my newest character is a 1st level alchemist.
Currently I am working on getting the Cleric from 3td to 5th level, and the Alchemsit from 1st level to 3rd level.
Then i will have a 10, 7, 5, 3 and i will easily be able to make another 1st level character.

Thanks, I don't do much in macros, but I do like my spreadsheets. My wife says it has something to do with being an engineer. :)

Anyone have more options like these? I'm trying to automate some things in a spreadsheet, but I'm not too good at excel. :(
My goal is to have a list of what modules have been played by who, and with a separate sheet pulling info from another to tell us who can play what at a quick glance.
Any ideas?
