You misunderstand how self-destructive and life-threatening it would be to marry a goblin. Not for the goblin. For the fool who marries one.

James, what is your opinion on Blue Oyster Cult's Godzilla?
No opinion. Haven't heard the song.

James, in the Iron Gods section you commented on a four armed PC race stating that you thought they would be too powerful. Could you expand on that please.
In another gaming system one of my favroite races was a Throon it had no greater power than any of the other strong races in that system.
Four armed races get more attacks and actions. That tends to make them more powerful as a result, but ALSO extends the length of their turn during play and ALSO complicates things about certain items (notably armor).
In order for a four-armed race to not be particularly more powerful than other races, the game system needs to be designed from the ground up with the assumption of that possibility. Pathfinder is not that game.
That said, the reasons I think kasathas are not appropriate for Iron Gods in particular is more due to the story of the AP. If you as the GM want to entertain the idea of kasatha PCs... you really should read at the very least the first four installments of Iron Gods so you know the ramifications of allowing that choice. It'd be similar to letting someone play a serpentfolk in Serpent's Skull, a drow in Second Darkness, or a triaxian in Reign of Winter. The element of discovery would be changed... maybe in a way you and the players prefer, but that's not the assumption of the AP.

I noticed that in addition to the 'Iron Gods AP Item Cards Deck' that there is a 'Tech Item Cards Deck' coming out in November. Is this accessory meant to lend additional support to Iron Gods specifically, or is it more geared toward use in any sci-fi RPG? If the latter, perhaps they're for use in an as yet undisclosed project, the Future of which could be Unspeakable?

What's your reaction to the Risen from the Sands playtest reports that the pregen swashbuckler was unable to contribute to combat, save by providing flanking and Aid Anothers to her allies? (The reported issue was her damage of 1d6+1 not being sufficient to overcome the enemies' DR.)
To take that feedback and make sure all the appropriate people here know about it and use it to make a stronger product in the future, I suppose?
Not really sure what answer you're fishing for...

The Iron Gods cards are items specifically statted up in the Adventure Path's treasure appendixes and whatnot. The Tech Item deck is items from the Technology Guide, which ALSO appear in Iron Gods.
AKA: There'll be 7 books that present technolgoical items. The Tech Guide (which is linked to the Teck Item deck) and the 6 volumes of Iron Gods (which is linked to the Iron Gods deck).

Not 'fishing' for anything; I just know swashbuckler is a class you've really championed the creation of, and maybe you felt that the particular opponents in the Free RPG Day adventure were a poor fit for the class's abilities or something.
I've been wanting to play a swashbuckler since AD&D and was hopeful about Paizo's version. But if it's still impossible to do meaningful damage without investing heavily in Str, I guess I'll keep cobbling Dex-based combatants out of rogues for the sneak attack dice.

Hi James!
How should my play by post group handle AoOs?
Currently we have grouped initiative to expedite combat but AoOs provide a potential bottle neck. Do you have any suggestions? We use Roll20 for the game mat.
I don't have much experience with play by post games, but my suggestion would be to just drop them entirely. Or simply say that taking an action when you would normally provoke simply puts you at a disadvantage and penalize the associated roll by –2.

Nope. Since my answer was actually theoretical; I haven't actually said something of that nature to my parents.

Well that is obvious...what with those puny little forearms how could he hold a stick at all?
Anyway question for James...
So now that Pazio is doing the Iron Kingdoms AP and exploring Numeria which you seem to have wanted to do for awhile...what is the next big thing you want to do?

Hello James,
I was looking for some combat aerial rules for winged creatures and I could only find this http://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/fly but left me with some questions.
Can I charge while flying ? does it count like a normal charge or does it triple the damage when charging while flying(dive from sky used to be like that in (d&d3.5). I always thought that flying creatures did extra damage when dive in from above which kinda makes sense but I can't find these rules in pathfinder.
If there are no specific rules of charging from above, would you use the old rules and adapt them to pathfinder ? or what would you has a GM.

Then we could get up to 50 , unless we're using Swarm Tactics.

IANJJ but...a lot of the issue is indeed the particular nature of the enemies faced (and would be fixed by having an adamantine weapon), and some more of it is the Swashbuckler in question being less than optimal. And yet more is Swashbuckler being one of those builds that gets notably better as it levels (adding level to damage will do that), and that module being low-level.
I wouldn't make any decisions on the class based on that module alone.

Does anyone in Golarion have the title of 'Master Thief'? If so, who is it?
If not, do you think something like that could exist? Like the best thieves have all heard of each other's work and vie for the title of "Master Thief" or something?
Nope. Something like that could exist, but it'd probably be Norgorber.
There are certainly regional "best thieves" out there, but since there's not a centralized union or guild, there can't be a universally accepted "master" of the entire job.

Saw it once, and never saw the need to see it again. It's a pretty middling, run-of-the-mill Disney movie. Not the worst, but far from the best.

As long as you fulfill all the requirements to charge (move at least 10 feet, move in a straight line, etc.) it doesn't matter what movement type you use. You can charge while flying, or swimming, or burrowing, or climbing.
There are some specific rules for charging from above. In the form of monster attacks like dive.

Hi James!
Hope you had a great vacation!
Are you still primarily developing the end of Iron Gods, or have you moved on to the next project?
(Not asking what the next project would be, just if you'd moved on).
I've just finished developing part 3 of Iron Gods, and am currently outlining the 2015 Adventure Path that'll launch that August. I'm hoping to get folks started writing on it before Paizocon, but that's unlikely... after Paizocon I'm back onto the 2nd half of Iron Gods.

A lot of the creative choices that went into the Taldor 32 page book are off from how I would have wanted them to be (the book was created well before I became creative director, back when I was focused entirely on the Campaign Setting line and Adventure Path line). I'm not all that interested in going into detail here, though; I'd rather save that energy for adjusting things back in a more organic way in various print products. My number one annoyance, though, is the whole "outlawing the church of Sarenrae" thing. Sarenrae is arguably the nicest, most friendly deity in the core 20, and the way her religion was "developed" in the Taldor book is off model.

So the whole thing about Qadiran Saranraeists looking to conquer Taldor didn't come from the Qadira book?
I've always taken it as a sign that the Golarion dieties leave that much interpretation to their worshippers as opposed to being the petty micromanaging drop an apocalypse at a hat scumwads the Dragonlance gods were.

Hi, James.
I have a question about the inherent evilness of undead.
I'm entirely on-board with the "undead are pretty much all evil except for a handful of exceptional individuals" thing.
Specifically, my question is about the spell skeleton crew from Pirates of the Inner Sea. Unlike pretty much every other undead-creation spells, skeleton crew does not have the [Evil] descriptor. I also noticed that this spell has a duration other than "instantaneous." Does that mean that these skeletons aren't evil? The spell description says that the skeletons created with the spell do not attack and do not defend themselves if attacked, so I could see that argument.
Was this intentional, or was it an oversight?
(I'm planning to either give the spell the [Evil] descriptor in my home game, or replace it with phantom crew: a similar spell of the Illusion (shadow) school that creates quasi-real illusory crewmembers. Or both.)

That's an error. It creates undead, and as such it should have had the [Evil] descriptor.
