Oracle of the Old Gods Weapon Ideas

One of my players is starting an Oracle who is a member of the Cult of the old Ones. He will be 8th level playing in the Second Darkness adventure path starting with endless night. He is looking for some ideas on weapons. I have given him a few ideas but I'm looking for other people opinions on the matter.
Any ideas on C'thuluean type weapons or gear?
He is an Oracle of Lore.
GP limit is around 18,000.

A Cleric or Oracle of the Old Ones wouldn't want to advertise the fact to much, and certainly none of the Old Ones use anything a mere mortal would recognize as a weapon.

That said, scientific instruments for taking measurements of the stars, books and scrolls of blasphemous lore, and pen & paper for writing his own.

And a sacrificial dagger, can't forget the sacrificial dagger.

look in Magic item compendium for the tentacle whips.

Shadow Lodge

A book, especially the Necronomicon. You can hit the other guy on the head with it, dazing him, then force him to read it, wiping away his sanity and providing the cult with a new recruit.

An idea! Have him play a Summoner! While his class would no longer be called "Oracle", that's all semantics anyway. Also Oracle offers almost nothing in the way of actual oracle abilities.

Think about it. In 2 levels he will have access to the ultimate homage to the old ones, tentacles for himself!!! As a reward for his service as herald they send him his own miniature-quasi-real-unspeakable-horror-from-beyond-the-stars which has as many tentacles as the chart allows.He can foretell as much doom as he desires, and now has evidence to the non believers!

Failing that, just give him a pistol. Lovecraftian "hero's" did enjoy using pistols.


Yeah a weapon repin the old ones is hard. I do like the idea of the sumonner

With the helps of the good folks on this board I was able to create a Mystic Theurge that works. The only problem was that the only way to do it was to be evil or at least crazy, but this would work out really well with the concept the player wants.

This build is modified from my own.

Race: Drow Noble ( spell like ability Deeper Darkness is a 2nd level divine spell) ( spell like ability Levitate is a 2nd level arcane spell)

Oracle 2 (favored) / Summoner 1 / Mystic Theurge 1

Moderately Depraved: I suggest taking Deranged

Key Feats:
Mad Faith: (Grants a 2nd level spell divine spell)
Preciousness Apprentice ( grants a 2nd level arcane spell)
Practiced Spell Caster X 2

Now because this build allows the caster at a low level to cast more than one 2nd level spell from both divine and arcane then Mystic Theurge would be able to be acquired much earlier with only a little bit of a delay in spell casting ability. The drawback is over course that MT does not effect class abilities from summoner or oracle but that is not the point because this would only be the base build so that the player can have a little bit of both worlds. The other beauty of this build is that both classes work off of your character's charisma.

There would be three direction the player could go from there then. The first of course would be to continue to go in MT and the other classes would be there for flavor. You would also have a kick butt strange looking other worldly spy of the old ones.

The other direction you could go is to then continue after that point on in your summoner class to have a terror from beyond but still have some healing ability for your eidlion. Your one level of oracle would have an effective caster level of 5 and your summoner would only be behind the curve on his abilities by only a few levels.

Weapon Wise I think it would depend on which old one your are talking about. Dagger is often a good way to go but an aquatic weapon might be just as good: Harpoons or tridents would fit the bill in that case.

LOL! I forgot about the old pistole`

He could have it as an Heirloom weapon too!
