Good for you! This is probably the smartest thing people can do about that thread until there is something to actually discuss.

I normally try to ignore those threads like the plague but it doesn't always work - I only realised that the Off Topic Senate was safe yesterday

Pual wrote:

I think that, with a few possible exceptions, Paizo is not bothering to moderate their forums over the weekends. So, that basically gives from Friday evening until about noon or later eastern time on Monday that nothing will happen.

So, although in other cases the thread may be put on track fairly quickly, it won't happen on weekends. In this particular case (IMO), and some others, the nature of the OP is so poor as to make a thread's peacuful continuance not be possible.

I am not sure what would be the result of using the contact customer service tags that can be found if the BBCode tag button when posting is opened...

Or, you could comment about it in web-site feedback subforum. But, even if it has been flagged with no apparent result like this particular thread, that will probably have Vic Wertz closing your thread and accusing you of trying to bypass using the system available (flagging) for such things. Of course, commenting about such things not working is what it seems that subforum is supposed to be for.

*shrug*

Fortunately, I have better things to waste my time on such as preparing for the next PFRPG session I will run and working on differing character variations to choose from for an upcoming AD&D 2nd edition game on of my friends will be running.

Now, I am going to waste my time looking for some food at a local mall.

Later to all.

All joking aside, there is a reason players HATE the bad guys in games I run.

All after just beginning to play DnD in the summer of 2009 well after I turned 40. I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.

Yes we are a great group

Owlcon should be great, I am set in three game with you
The cleric is coming back, does it really count?
The fighter must live, atleast if the cleric does his job

~laughter~ Moorluck, I am glad that you and Solnes had a good time.

Does any of the FAWTL Members live in the New Orleans area? Karen and I will be there visiting her relatives during the first week of March and I figured that maybe we could meet up for lunch or so on one of the days that we are there. Also, are there any good used book stores or FLGS?

Highschool of the Dead: Drifters of the Dead OVA is scheduled to be released on April 20, 2011. That sort of answers as to when the DVD will be out.

Well he ain't gonna just let it happen, that's for sure. :-/

It is a lot of work. The sandbox nature means you really have to have a good handle on large portions of the book - ideally all of the current book and a little of the books detailing the edges of the region you're dealing with currently - to handle player decisions. But it's been pretty fun so far - well worth the effort in my opinion!

I've got a large group, and all but one of them is a caster, so I'm making a lot of changes to handle group makeup and size. I'm also using expanded kingdom building and some of the excellent DM ideas in the Kingmaker section of the forums here (paizo community is awesome!). I'm bringing in other outside sources, trying to get a little more of the roleplaying and diplomacy aspects some attention, and the ability to be mounted through much of the campaign is nice for some usually difficult ro playcharacter build choices.

I didn't insist too hard on characer backgrounds - I wish I'd pushed harder from the start. Being able to tie in character pasts is fun, and gives a lot of fodder for random events in the campaign. One of the two good backgrounds I've rec'd has already had some effect on the campaign, and I'm planning more for both in the future - push for that if at all possible!

I pre-roll a lot of the random events so I can make up stories around them. i see what interests my players and that influences how further similar encounters play out. :)

It's got enough structure to help me out with a campaign path, but enough freedom to let me run with stuff. Now if only I had 28 hours a day to work on all the stuff I wnat to prepare! :D

Liberty's Edge

All sounds good!

Yeah, I’ve been periodically reading the Kingmaker section of the boards for ideas, and have been looking at other sources for wilderness survival rules, structure building rules, kingdom building rules etc to see what I can mine for this game ... I’ve also been thinking of adding in a lot of additional wilderness sites (maybe instead of as many random encounters).

The group I play with tends to be very big on character background and finding links between characters, so I don’t have any worries in that regard.

One thing that is an issue is the fact that rarely (at least in the first and second book) do you have more than 1 encounter a day. I drastically raised the number of random encounters to counter some of this, and raise the difficulty of almost every encounter more than you would think necessary for a 7 person party to keep the fights from being boring. sometimes I increase the difficulty of the creature - more often I increase the number of creatures. Sometimes I do both. I also often increase hit points or change monsters feats / skills to make them a little more optimized - many encounters end up being in the difficult to very difficult range (as far as CR is concerned. My group works well together and have only rarely been in serious danger).

all of this depends heavily on your group's preferred playstyle, makeup and size, of course. But that's the biggest problem I've had with a party of spellcasters in the first book - 1 encounter / day meant everyone was nova-ing every single encounter. Denser encounters - connected encounters! - might mitigate this problem quite a bit.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, I think one of the ‘I heart casters / fighters are teh sucks’ threads touched on that point in regards to Kingmaker. I will probably go something along that path. When I run the Paizo APs I tend to cut some of the smaller encounters and load up some of the bigger or more interesting encounters (making them, hopefully, very tough but memorable) or have multiple nearby encounters sort of run into each other, so I will probably take a similar approach with Kingmaker.

Hope you have a good game today (or had, depending on your game time and time zone).

I do that somewhat in pbp; if I stopped to have CR=party ecl encounters, it'd take forever to get anything done.
