I can't seem to grow tomatoes here for the life of me. I just don't get it. And I've grown pumpkin with mixed results. Usually zucchini does well for me here, but this year seems to be slow going. I've heard that other people are having an odd year for growing things.You might want to consider a tomato box. I made one that was 4'x4'x8' with a Plexiglas lid, and it worked great.
I do mine in raised beds. Plus they get about 15 hrs of sun a day (I live on a treeless hilltop)

What is your current town of residence?
A festival will be a little different than a concert. Were those last three jazz festivals, jazz concerts, or some other type of concert that you went to?
