And what the heck are we going to do with little Popcorn here? He can't be weaned yet.
Arg.
One site said that rabbits only feed their young at night. The guy we found alive was well-fed and warm this morning after the nest attack last night, so he wasn't abandoned. It also said the nest can be moved up to ten feet and the mother will find it. Fortunately, the fence is only about six feet from the nest, so we ended up moving him, fur bedding and all, outside the fence. We'll check him in the morning and see if he's OK. We buried his brother or sister.
Whatever we do, we have to keep him away from badgers.

This badger doesn't harm fluffy wittle animals.
That's what all the badgers say, right before they make Popcorn's name literal. :P
Oh, thanks for the advice. I don't know of any newer nests than his. The one in the front yard has been abandoned for a week or two now. We need night vision goggles to spot the nursing mothers on the nests. Or maybe a night vision sniper scope. Yeah. Yeah.

Do you have a Sony camcorder? Lots of them have a "Night Shot" feature which is a quasi-nightvision. Not sure how well it'll work, especially at distance and only using the built-in IR light source, but if you already have one, it may be worth trying.

In all seriousness, that was a terribly unfortunate situation.
If it helps, I saw much of the same thing happen when I was in college back in '94. Of course, we didn't have the kind of social networking tools that are so common today, but there was always a scant few who actually seemed to care what was going on in the class room.

As strange as it may seem, if there's a good natured cat or dog that's recently had a litter, you can try that too.

When I was in college back in the Reagan years, it seemed like the majority of kids who started partying on Wednesday and never went to class or paid attention were those whose parents pad their way. Not saying everyone was like that, and a good friend of mine with a scholarship requiring a 3.0 GPA blew off school and failed out, which ended up costing him $50,000, but it seemed like there was an "I don't have to work for this" attitude.
I'll stop rambling now...
Get off my lawn!

I suggest you ease up a bit on them. I went through very much the same thing when I discovered an entire host of people at one of the cons I went to had NO IDEA who Go Nagai was. I was floored, truly. But then again, just because you share a devotion to something does not mean that you know everything about it, or even much beyond a certain scope.

I went back today and they had the Cry Havoc book still on the shelf. Here's the breakdown:
Legend & Lairs: Seafarer's Guide: $10
Cry Havoc: $10.98 + $0.74 s/t = $11.72
As a freebie bonus, since I had two extra copies of this sitting around the house and you said you wanted to read up on this genre in your spare time, I threw in this in paperback. Consider it a gift. :)
I sent the package as Zone 4 Media Shipping. May take a little longer, but at a lower cost of $3.55 (versus the $7.94 they tried to hit me with), I don't think you'll fret.
Total = $25.27
