YIKES, 17 is rough but 5 is just mean of the dice roller.(did you reroll the ones?)
let me know if you guys think this isn't fair.
I'll give you two options you can do another set of rerolls same rules,(best 3d6 out of 4, reroll ones) and pick the better set of rolls and keep it. (just go with what ya got), or you can go with the safer route of 25 point buy.
That goes for everyone by the way, I think a couple of you would be hard pressed to do better, but you can try if you like.
If you roll, please keep em on the board.
And thinking about it as their isn't much worry about crunch in the prelude, everyone can go ahead and jump in, even if you end up playing something diffrent it isn't going to hurt that they met a random pc they didn't stick around. you just might be a bit diffrent statistically by the time we get into the real game.

Taecuss you are good to go, bonus feat approved.Gylwinth get some background and description up and you can get in on the bonus feat action. but both of you are welcome to get in one the pregame.
take all the liberties you like in this one, its very much about warming up, getting to know each other and having fun.

Thanks MoG.
To be honest, I've recently joined another game and find it all demanding with RL.
I wouldn't want to get in and be the one that doesn't get in.
On the other hand, we all know how much games can be hard to maintain and sometime stop for different but all good reasons, so we don't want to miss on an opportunity.
Also, I've been thinking about another concept along similar lines, but which brought me somewhere else entirely: a bene gesserit-type using monk and inquisitor levels.
(bene gesserit are from Frank Herbert's Dune novels, very interesting)
Where does this leaves me? Good question! I think for now I'll take a goos breath, see how this week goes by, and then make my mind.
Master of games |
Thanks Taecuss, I'll do my best to bring it over to the gm side of things.
Gylwinth, let me know what you decide. whatever the case is we can always write you in later or if you decide you want in and it is too over whelming we can write you out. either way no hard feelings here.
as far as changing pc's I'm good with it so long as we are settled by the time we start MOTFF.
good luck with your goose breathe. =P
on another note, do you guys see anything I need to do to improve? feel free to throw constructive criticism my way as we go.

I have no idea what you said besides, "Make a cool monk."
Gylwinth of the Crimson Moon |
Well, actually, the concept I have in mind would only have two levels of monk, the rest probably in inquisitor or bard.
The Bene Gesserit appear in Dune's novels. They are a form of secret society with vested interests in the breeding of certain lines of monarchy, trying to get to some genetic grail.
They have very interesting powers, derived from extensive training and an understanding of the link between thought processes and biochemical balances in the body.
I've always been interested in recreating some of the fluff and the crunch associated with them. I believe I might have found a way with the monk/inquisitor or the monk/bard.
If others would like to chime in on my tentative definition of the bene gesserit, please do.

It has been decades since I've read a Dune book, but it sounds pretty cool. If you feel like giving it a try, I'd be curious to see how it plays out. And I think we all understand when real life gets in the way, so we all get it whichever way you decide, even if it means jumping in or out midstream.
Gylwinth of the Crimson Moon |
Yeah, good memories.
In the first book, he presented the Bene Gesserit as witches. As the book unfurls, you get a glimpse that they are so much more. Through the six novels, Herbert gives the reader more and more clues as to their nature and end goal.
The whole cycle was a great read. I read the first novel twice, but two of my friends actually read the whole cycle twice!

I'd be interested in joining this campaign as well. Thinking Cleric of Irori with a level or two of monk. Let's see how the dice go:
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 2) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 3) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 1) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 6) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 6) = 16
And a few 1 rerolls in order of appearance: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 2) = 9
EDIT: Wow, final rolls of 11, 11, 9, 12, 12, 14. Debating on whether to go with these simply for the rp value.

Y'know, it's really nice roleplaying Krom'gosh. When I make roleplaying characters, in the past I usually make dashing, good-looking young men who are paladins and fighters. Making a gross, scarred, ferociously ugly half-orc is new territory for me, and it's refreshing. XD
In my experience, you never know exactly how your characters act, no matter how much you write their backstory, until you've written a few actual posts and played a few hours in their shoes. I never would have pegged Krom as a playful flirt (especially not to Halfling women...for God's sake, the man is seven feet tall. O_o), nor a man who talks like he keeps a thesaurus in his back pocket.
Anyway, the reason I'm suddenly waxing introspective in the OOC thread is for one reason: Krom'gosh started as a way for me to branch away from character archetypes that I usually play. I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks about their own characters--what inspired you to create that particular character? A hero from a play, book or movie? Random rolls? Do you flesh out your character's personality before, or after you start playing? Do you often play characters that are similar in scope, or completely broad across the board?
It's late, and I'm curious. XD
That, and we're getting in some QUALITY role play. You guys are awesome.

\/Holy cow, you can use a Large Bastard Sword
\/How can I make a character around this
\/Wait a sec, Dwarven Waraxe does the same damage, and has the same rules
\/Dwarves can use all dwarf weapons with no feats
\/Even mis-sized ones
\/Why would a Dwarf have a Large version of their weapon?!
\/Bofgar!!!

Well in RL i am almost always GMing so that gives me a chance to play all types of personalities. When I do get to play I try to develop a distinct character. Sometimes I wait to see what kind of stats I get if rolling, but more often I start getting an idea of what I want. I knew this adventure was going to take place in Absalom. That make me want to play a young pathfinder. So I knew I wanted someone that was going to go in as a wide-eyed, but knowledgeable adventurer. I thought a bard would work well for that and a halfling fit the innocent youth concept to me. I like to play different types of characters in games just because I have been playing so long. I do have favorite archetypes though. I like what we have going on here I think it is going to be a fun game.
Master of games |
For me it starts with a name. I name the character and then realize what race they are, how their name and race effects who they became. roll some stats and fit it as best I can to the name race and attitude, I then move on to see that that person most likely became this class. and then I mix a couple drops of over the top caricature and I hit the ground running.
I warn you Mastermind/Bofgar, if Ox ever goes Rip(knocks on wood) you have an elven paladin/sorceror of Apsu coming your way. he will head towards dragon disciple.(if its approved of course. he is Lg to the max)
Dathom, we'd be glad to have you! make up what you like, I have since the first posts, allowed two sets of rules, and I am pretty sure you must have caught me saying it somewhere, but it bares repeating, free feat for a good background, just tie it in and its all yours.( really I am just looking for it to make a bit of sense.)
Gylwinth of the Crimson Moon |
Gylwinth ready for your perusal. Still unsure how I'll handle four games, though. I've worked on him some more as the Falcon's Hollow game was slowing down dangerously. Now it seems to be back. So we'll see how it goes.
My background explains why I picked the bonus feat Persuasive and the traits Fast-talker and Ease of faith. Let me know what you think.
Regarding character creation it really depends. I tend to favor picking a class that adds to an existing group. I thus often played clerics (with great fun). Otherwise, it comes down to either something I've read as a basis for inspiration, or a class I'm curious about. I try to get a mental image, then move on to the crunch. Sometimes, I abandon the idea because, as I try to be good at too many things, I suck at every single one. Sometimes, the mechanics can't support the concept (arcane rogues are hard...).
Keep in mind that I'll be off in Europe for three weeks in July, biking, so very very far from a computer.
Again, it's your game first. So feel free.
Master of games |
Gylwinth of the crimson moon, you look good to go, I love the back ground and the traits and feats work for me. you are ready for the prelude if you like. If you have trouble we'll manage something no biggy.
Dathom, you still have a bit of time if you are working on something.
yup, Late on the 21st, I'm hoping to work the singing saytr into the intro, but I don't know if it'll work, I think I should be able to make it work, but if not the pathfinder may just prefer their tavern. just incase there are preset hijinks or some such.
so lets see we have.
Garick-Quin bard half ling
Reyceid- Krom cleric half orc
mastermind -Bofgar Barbarian dwarf
Kal-Taecuss fighter elf
Corso –Gwlyinth witch elf
Lukasz- is still working.

which leaves Janku and Servayn snubbing us. lol, j/k, I might throw it out there to them one more time. or maybe just go reread and double check that I invited them.

I can grab up one of the PBP characters I'm not using right now, and if you want to go with two groups, I have an abundance of clerics lying around. (Calistria, Shelyn, Urgathoa and Asmodeus, all Human.)
I could also dig up a Human (azlanti) Barbarian, a Human Bard (priest of Razmir), a Suli Paladin, or a Human Druid (Chelaxian), or make something new, like a Halfling Alchemist or some sort of Witch. New will take longer, as my brain is fuzzy. :)
I have profiles up for the Clerics of Calistria (Violant Aurori) and Urgathoa (Mordecai), the Bard-priest of Razmir (Iacobus Gildenpalm), the Azlanti Barbarian (Ankara) and the Druid (Marius Acacius somethingsomething...).
There's others, but not suited for Absalomi adventures.

I am going to get the Module kicked off tonight, I am going to keep it in intro mode until everyone who is going to join, is ready. leaving those who aren't all the way ready as nosey patrons who want to tag a long and will do so as you are given the low down.
It is simplistic to lead in from the Saytr(yay!)
