It seems there is a halt in the game, likely life. Is this common?
I won't be available much this weekend, I'm attending WrestleMania in Phoenix. I can check via phone, but that'll be the extent.
I've been sick...I did post yesterday though, so that's not a halt in the game, it just lurches along at the speed of PbP.
I've been trying to figure out how to deal with Valanos, I think what we can do, and this will explain the pause for Kurgand being last down as well, is that Valanos had been trailing the others, Kurgand spotted you and went to investigate while the others were silently descending.
You can do a flashback here to RP it if that sounds acceptable.
Weekends are typically slow in 90% of PbP games...I'm in one that moves at full speed during the weekend, and sometimes I get left behind.

The idea sounds fair enough by me...I'll start the ball rolling, I guess.
I posted a comment in the main thread asking your thoughts, so this will be a basic introduction.
As Valanos makes his way towards the mountain, he spots a small, stout individual coming his way. He bears a silver-steel shield in one hand, while at his side he holds a gold-brass colored axe. Approaching closer, he has a beard as black as coal underneath his helm that trails slightly below his collar.
"Well now, neighbor, what brings you out here followin' in me path, eh? That armor belongs to no highwayman, so I doubt you're a mere bandit."

As you approach, you notice his head following your movements.
"I am a pathfinder, as are you. I seek something within that mountain, as do those already on the mountain. I am called Valanos. We have a common goal."
He appears as the description in the PBP thread, but up close, he has armor spikes and wears full plate. A large flail head swings lazily from a chain, apparently held upon his waist, but with a catch to hold the flail head. A longbow is upon his back, along with some quivers. The smell of brimstone is obvious when adjacent, a slight sheen shows to the armor, almost that of obsidian. There are no bulky items, but bags and items hanging from a belt are apparent.

Valanos:
base cost 1500gp (considered MW, no additional charge)
+1 = 1,000gp
light fortification makes it the equivalent of +2 armor, thus costing and additional 3000gp
total=5500gp

"Well now, pleased to meet you, Valanos. My name's Kurgand." The dwarf hasn't moved from your path, his axe and shield still slung in a prepared mode.
"Your armor means Hellknight, and Hellknights mean Cheliax, not Pathfinders. I won't let what's in that mountain be turned over to the thrice-damned house of Thrune. I'll be needing a little more than that before I turn my back on you. Who sent you; do you have some document that proves your allegiance?"
I will drop the plus 1 then, hopefully the light fort saves me
can't a magical item (except Amulet of Natural Fists) must have a +1 enhancement bonus to accept additional enchanments.
You could make it +1 light fort half-plate, course it wouldn't look so Hell Knighty...

Valanos reaches into a pouch and removes a wayfinder, somewhat damaged but it works, and holds it for Kurgand to see.
"It is a common belief there are no pathfinders, but there has been a recent movement to unearth information, artifacts, and anything useful. I am not here to do harm, I seek only to learn of the past."
Looking around and in hushed tone, "There are some things I do not for Cheliax, for which I would certainly die." Valanos seems ready to defend himself, a hand resting on the flail handle. He seems to be anticipating an attack.

Returned from WrestleMania, 1 am, work at 5 am. It is totally worth it!

Kurgand looks at Valanos' Wayfinder, and seems to mull over his near-heretical words. This seems to strike a chord with him.
"Humph...I've seen some strange things in this work. If that is your word, then I will hold you to the Pact, and may the 20 eyes strike you down if you betray us." His oath is a reference to the unwritten code of agreement among Pathfinders, and the belief that the Pathfinder governing council (Decemverate) watches over all such missions.
"Come along then, we'll lose the others if we don't get a move on." The dwarf turns then, his axe slung at his side and he begins a slow trot in his armor - waving at Valanos to follow.

"I would take great appreciation if you do not mention what I have stated. I am prepared for death, but I don't wish to hasten it."

On Easter weekend, I was informed that my brother's business was being audited by the IRS. Since then, I have been working with him to get all his financial reports ready for today.
I apologize for my absence; I've barely had time to sleep much less even check the boards. Now that it has been taken care of, I hope to review and get back into the game this evening. That is assuming I am still welcome.
