yeah that sounds reasonable. at 2nd level, do you approve the quick draw feat as a rogue talent? and does it allow fast sheathing/concealing too?

Yep, at 2nd level you can get Quick Draw from the combat trick talent. The feat doesn't mention sheathing weapons any quicker, but I'll let you use it to reduce the time taken to the normal amount for sheathing a weapon (a move action).

Shuriken Nekogami wrote:
about the foes we will be facing? how nonthreatening do they consider a little girl? enough for a free sneak attack on the opening round?

That entirely depends on the circumstances, you'll have to wait and see :P.

Hey Calixymenthillian,

If you've got an opening I would like to sign up, if not how about as an alternate?

Unfortunately we're full now, but I'll keep you in mind for the next intro game.

I don't think it's explicitly mentioned anywhere, but it would definitely make sense for there to be sailing races, maybe around the island.

Thanks. I have no problem haelping out where I can, I just don't want you to be relying on me and then me have work get in the way and let you down.

As to Character... I was actually in the process of making an Inquisitor if you'll allow me to play that.

I'd much rather everyone stick to the core rulebook to keep things simpler for the new players, but if you're comfortable enough with the rules that you're sure it won't impact on the intent of this being an introduction then you can go ahead.

I'm starting to feel mean, you're the third person I've asked to change from a play-test class... don't get me wrong guys, I can see the appeal—they're cool classes, but I'm just not sure if it's a good idea to be using non-finalised rules when we're introducing the game to new players.

Sorry to butt in – I wouldn’t feel that you’re being mean about it Calix; you made it clear right from the get go that this was a beginner’s game (reason I never threw my hat into the ring), and pretty early on that you didn’t want playtest classes in the game. As the GM, you need to feel comfortable with what you’re running (as I’m sure you know). Flash is a big boy, he’ll get over it ;-P And besides, he’s a guru when it comes to interesting character concepts, I’m sure he’s got something up his sleeve for a core class!

Good luck with your game man (that goes for all the players too) – have fun!

Yeah sure that's no problem and I can see where you're coming from and fully understand.

I might try out a re-working of my Elizabeth Danflor concept, this time going Rogue/Arcane Sorcerer (beginning with Rogue at first level). How does that sound?

Thanks for the kudos my man. :D
Did you see the new Character I made for our Pen & Paper Pathfinder that's about to start up? I still have to add his Stats, but he's gonna be so much fun to play (think Belkar). :D

Also Calix, if you don't want us to Multi-Class either that's no problem. I'll taylor a Character to your game so if anything I throw out doesn't sit right with you just tell me to change it. As Moth said, I'm a big boy and you're the GM, I can roll with whatever you say. :)

Heh, awesome man. I don’t think I’d want to be the one to make any jokes about him being called ‘Big John’.

Spoiler:
Are you playing Pathfinder with your local group? What sort of campaign? I’m sure you’ll have fun with it!

Thanks Mothman, and I'm glad you understand Flash.

Now, why does the name Danflor sound so familiar?

Yeah, we just finished up Red Hand of Doom 3.5 yesterday over a BBQ lunch (it's been just under a year now). So starting next Friday night we begin Pathfinder (finally all my pushing and prodding has payed off) playing Rise of the Runelords.
I can't wait. :D

Danflor is another Board Member. I actually loved the name so much I pinched it for Liz's last name. :)

Multi-classing should be fine, it's part of the game, and even less complicated than it was in 3.5 so I don't see a problem with it.

I sooooo agree with this statement. I used to hate doing Skills, especially for Multi-Class and even moreso if you were making a high level Character from scratch. Now I love doing Skills as they are infinitely easier.

At work so I can't e-mail you back Calix.

The issue is trying to Submit changes on the alias. For some reason it says there's an error and it's being forward to Customer service.

I'll fix the skll point issue (read it wrong, thought the favoured class didn't apply to 1st) and will look through the traits.

I'm loving the system. We kinda jumped into a game this weekend and it was a good time. Can't wait to get my PbP feet wet on this one.

Naw don't feel that way, Calix. I don't get butthurt over things like that, and as DM you have the final say. At first the cavalier seemed to fit what I needed for my concept, but I was able to rework a fighter into what I needed, also thanks to your suggestion for the Trait, its like you read my mind :) I was looking to get Knowledge Nobility for a skill.

Oh yea got my background done, just check the alias and it's all there, just need to fill out the little details. Let me know what you think.

Liberty's Edge

Just realized I forgot my favorite class bonus for 1st level. I'll add a hit point, I think.

Hmm, that's weird... I imagine you'll hear something from customer service sometime today about it, they're good like that.

Looks good, though I've got a bit of bad news for you: your armour check penalty applies to the ride skill in PFRPG.

Also, please could you mention why you're joining the Pathfinder Society in your background, it doesn't need to be much.

@ the armor check penalty: Ouch. Oh well thats ok I guess. Do you know of anyways to circumvent that, like feats or whatnot? I was planning to model my character as a mounted knight. As for the background, I'll be adding the reasons for joining in a moment :)

Other that the fighter armour training that reduces your penalty as you level, the only things I can think of that reduce the penalty is masterwork, mithril and the armour expert trait.

That could work :)

Just so you know, I left a certain amount of background details open, so I don't know how you like to DM/GM, but feel free to do what you like if you want to incorporate anything into the campaign, or leave it isolated. Up to you, I like surprises...

...that don't kill me.

Liberty's Edge

There's nothing wrong with surprises that kill you, Alexian. I'm on Clone #4 in my RotRL campaign now.

heh heh :), for a second there I thought you were talking about a Paranoia campaign.

oh wait, my saturday dm is running RotRL, we are currently on sins of the saviors, we cleared lust, greed, sloth, and envy so far, and part of wrath before we retreated, we just need to do the rest of wrath, as well as pride and gluttony.

I'm going for a Barbarian. Not the normal dumb, tribal smash barbarian, but an intelligent guy that just loses it in a fight.

Samant Blath'tan - I started out a scribe for a local scholar in Korvosa. My studies interupted to jot down this note or take dictations from visiting scholars. It was a good life. One night I finished a rather difficult bit of reading, on one of the many ruins in this region, and decided he'd have a cup of wine. On my way to the tavern he got apporached by a gentleman that asked for my purse, I politely declind and he insisted by sticking a knife to my throat. What happend after that I don't remember, but I was told the majority of his bones we're broken and several internal organs had been ruptured.

The next incident happened a few nights later. I was approached by a group of individuals and badly beaten. Left for dead I managed to crawl into a doorway where I was found the next nmorning. A healer managed to heal my wounds but not the parting remarks I heard from my psyche, "Leave him alive. I like seeing him helpless. What are you boys doing tomorrow. Feel up to this again?"

I decided it was time to seek my fortunes elsewhere. The Pathfinders seek out ancient ruins and treasures... so I figured I could become one with them. Picking up bits of training as I made my way to Absalom, I can handle myself in fight a bit better, and the "Madness," as I like to call it... I'm getting better control over it, though it still comes unbidden.

Yea I still haven't decided on which one to choose background-wise. Hailing from Magnimar, do you have any suggestions?

Varisian might be a good choice for someone from Magnimar, or perhaps Shoanti.

My name was originally Yrsa in my tribal tongue, but on my arrival to Absolom it was changed into Ursula. The name means little bear. The merchant who bought me thought of me as his pet and found the name funny. I don’t have fond memories of that and don’t speak of it (my old name) to anyone.

About the Good Luck/Bringer of Victory thing: I had found this silver coin stamped to Desna on one side and Calistria on the other. Probably an error when it was minted. In response to your request for feedback from the other thread:

There is a gladiatoral arena, 'The Irorium', in Absalom with a '10 acre central stage', although there isn't any mention of chariot races. (Guide to Absalom page 28.)
Locations of possible interest to your character might include The Pleasure Salon of Calistria in the Ascendant Court district (basically Absalom's temple to Calistria, page 15 of the Guide to Absalom), and The Silken Court in The Petal District (a house of such exceedingly good repute that the city's ruler, Lord Gyr, is occasionally seen there, page 37 of the Guide to Absalom).

You guy still in need of a player?

I'm not a newbie to making characters and such but I've never done the PBP system so that is new to me. If you guys do want a player what classes and races are allowed?

I own most of the genius guides, the PFRPG Core and alot of other pathfinder books.

So if you need someone i'll be around =)
