Hotel rates bite. We've been trying to book a hotel for one night in Rome for the day we arrive in Italy, because we figure we'll be tired and won't want to get right on the land transportation after getting off the long plane ride.
We were debating whether to stay at the Hilton right by the airport, because then we wouldn't have to cart our luggage around. It's expensive (€200), but if we stayed in the city itself, we would have to take a cab to move all our luggage, more than offsetting the extra cost of the hotel. Now the Hilton has gone up to €350.

He just wanted to know where we were from. :)

Morning folks. It's been an interesting morning so far. Patches (my hamster) somehow managed to get out of his cage and had himself a whirlwind tour of the right wing of our house, it ended when my mom found him in the master bathroom tub which is about the size of a jacuzzi.
I've also been working on my finances to make sure that I can get myself to FAWTLY Con 2 and have a decent laptop by that time. It means no RPG books for one full year, but by god, it is my hearts desire to meetup with you fine folk next year. Books will still be there afterwards.

Due to lack of answer, I'm just going to assume it was a gay bath house. Kinky.

Bryce's school concert was last night. He did really well. He was clearly trying to sing along and even did some of the motions. And he only fidgeted in place a little. I made sure to smile at him a lot during the performance and that seemed to help keep the stage fright from totally overwhelming him.:)

I want to start dressing some kind of way that synthesizes 18th/19th C influences into my wardrobe. But I'd need money to figure that thing out and buy clothes. The question is, would the wife revolt?
EDIT: Okay, that was some crazy ghosting, but I think everybody knows the thread of conversation is back there.

I suggest a turban. Nothing says 19th century like an Ottoman turban.
Edit: Treppa says it would go with the stache pretty well too!

Yeah, it does get pretty expensive. Even if you sew your own stuff. Fabric ain't cheap. But it really depends on the piece. Are we talking ruffly blouses here or brocade vests. Twill coats with tails? Don't go for the knee breeches. Seriously. Only women can pull those off these days without looking like a total idiot. Trust me. And you definitely need some sort of impressive hat. :)
(Yes, I used to make period costumes for people. I had to give it up because it costs too much. I wasn't doing it in large enough quantities to be able to keep the prices reasonable. And I have this habit of doing hand-picked hems because it looks so much better, but it can be hours of extra labor per garment.)taig RPG Superstar 2012 |

ROFL, wish I could've been there for that.

Click on the PaizoCon 2010 link, and go to the events schedule. I think there's instructions there.

That sounds like fun, although you should have gone along with the bath house story.

Somehow I'm completely unfazed by that information. It just seems to mesh very well with my image of Urizen.

I prefer fezzes to turbans.

What about a pork-pie? You could look like a carpet bagger.
Edit: Treppa says a top hat would make you look like the evil land baron.
Also, you'd need to grow mutton chops to wear a bouler hat.

I can totally picture you in a fez.

Brocade vests would be awesome. Wing collars would be great, or other collars that would go with freer forms of neck ties. I'd only be tempted to do knee breeches if I was in all tweed Scottish suit. Tailoring is MUCH cheapter in Thailand, so I'd be tempted on taking some patterns with me when I eventually go.

The bowler communicates certain things to me that don't fit. The right kind of top hat would be awesome. I wouldn't go with the Lincolnian variety.

Hmm. But I'm clearly a mammal despite my wings. A platypus egg, perhaps?

What makes you clearly a mammal? All of the differentiating features between mammals and birds are either reproductive in nature (e.g., mammary glands, giving live birth, etc, which can't be determined given you are a male of the species) or relating to internal anatomy (e.g., mammals have solid bones, birds have hollow bones).
The only way to verify your mammalian status is dissection.
Or for you to give birth.
