Stefnir? I'll NPC this tonight if you are busy.

Male Human Druid 2

Stefnir summons a small ball of flame into his open hand, and hurls it at the Urchins. Produce Flame

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 Ranged Touch
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 PF Flame damage.

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

I think Jorgen said it was resistant to fire? Maybe try for the urchins?

Changed. Thanks, I'd missed that somehow.

The Exchange

As Stefnir conjures a ball of flames into his hand he choses the nearesturchin in its niche high in the ceiling. With a long over-arm throw, the ball sails up and impacts on the niche. Most of the fire causes no harm but some does enter burning into the creature.

Kurn's healing provides succor for Anya in her hour of need. Ari bravely stays and fights.

Then the vine strikes out at one of the Krieglanders.

Chosen at random Anya=1, Ari=2, Kurn=3, Ragnar=4 1d4 ⇒ 4

Vine attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26, Damage 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15. Grab and constrict attempt on Ragnar 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30, Damage 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11. Total damage 26 pts.

The main vine slashes across at Ragnar's face and almost opens his jugular but the thorns slice into scarred flesh at his throat instead. Before he can respond, Ragnar feels the shock and pain as the thick vine twists round his neck and begins to crush his shoulders and arms.

The Exchange

Urchin attacks on Ari 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14, damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5, Stefnir 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5, damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3, and Ragnar 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4, damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Again three different urchins fire out their spines at the same targets as before but all miss.

The Exchange

Stefnir/Helga don't forget your Perception checks for the end of the last round.

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

I am at 0 and disabled. I'm guessing that I won't be able to escape the grapple; would I be able to attack with my dagger while grappled then, likely falling into the negatives?

The Exchange

Yes on all counts however its -2 to attack and Ragnar will indeed end up on -1 hits. Rest of the party to act now, i.e. Jorgen, Ragnar and Helga. No one else please act in case something happens at the end of the round (that does not include reactig to any successful Perception checks).

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

In his turn, Kurn will run to the alter and touch it with the trident. "Krakis I pray you will help!"

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

Vision swimming, the sound of his own pumping blood filling his ears, Ragnar struggles for one last slash at the vine before blacking out.
Dagger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 201d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
And I am now unconscious at -1

Brett, let's try to read what I am writing just a bit better please.

The Exchange

Ragnar's dagger disappears into the aggressive foliage and he slumps in the plant's grasp.

Helga and Jorgen.

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Helga sings ...

Perform (sing): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Inspire courage, +1 attack & damage to everyone, not a lot else I can actually do given the damage that thing is dishing out.

Male Human Druid 2

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 Perception

End of the Round

Those at the rear make a Perception check DC15 (Jorgen/Stefnir/Helga)

** spoiler omitted **

Helga/Stefnir

Spoiler:
Both of you hear the sound of a scream outside, but far away like its across the cove perhaps. Its sounds like a man afraid.

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

Can we have a summary of who is up and who is down? I think we are ... not doing so well!

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

I'm down at -1 and I believe Anya is still fighting through the negatives due to Diehard? Everyone else should be okay.

The Exchange

Anya is fighting on but has taken some serious hits, Ragnar is a floppy constricted thing - unconscious and bleeding. Everyone else is fairly okay, although Ari has to make a Fort save vs poison DC13. Stefnir also needs to save a Reflex save vs being entangled - something I've only just noticed on my map.

Male Human Druid 2

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 Reflex save

Female Human Barbarian/2

Squaring her feet to support herself on her shaky legs, Anya grits her teeth in fury and again tries to hue the plant down.
Attack:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Damage:1d12 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
thanks again FW, very fair of you. Also just wanted to check as you didn't mention it, Anya's attack missed last turn?

The Exchange

End of Round Two

Helga/Stefnir/Jorgen DC12 Perception check
Kurn/Ari/Anya DC20 Perception check

Spoiler:
There is a shout from one of the fisherfolk outside the shrine to Krakis, "Oiy, the dead have risen over the bay. People are dying and danger! Its your cursed ship!"

The Exchange

Anya Fiend-Fury wrote:

Attack:1d20+7
Damage:1d12+7

Just to give you an insight for the future had I rolled a 1, the vines would have gone for Anya and slotted her in all probability. I'm not that fair or soft and cuddly. The last attack did miss on a 13.

Anya's axe rips into the main body of the vines and green leaves scatter. The plant monster keeps on fighting.

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

"We have to end this quickly! Something is happening in the bay!"

Helga draws a bead on an urchin and lets fly.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7

The Exchange

Helga manages to take out one of the urchins in a shot, the ball of spines rolls out of the ceiling crack with a thud. It was the one nearest Ari.

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Perception

1d20 ⇒ 7

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Kurn will run to the alter, touch it with the trident and channel

1d6 ⇒ 4

"Krakis, please help your servant!" shouts Kurn in prayer.

The Exchange

NPC Jorgen

Perception check 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Jorgen turns and runs outside.

Jorgen

Spoiler:
Standing beside one of the boats and the old man, Jorgen can see him pointing across at the beach opposite. A large black bearded man, Drago, is clubbing an old woman to the ground next to another. The woman's neck is bent at an impossible angle. Two more are running up the slopes towards their lodges. There is no sign of Saorise.

The Exchange

Ari and Stefnir to act. Also with Xmas coming I'd like to shelve the game from Wed evening UK time for a week. After that I'd guess that things will be a bit sporadic for another week over New Years.

Male Half-Elf Rogue 2

Fortitude Save 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Ari slices with his rapier at the plant again 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Damage 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

In case there aren't any further posts, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas

Male Human (Kreig) Inquisitor 2

Jorgen breaks into a run, barrelling down the beach towards the chaos.

How long will it take to get there at a run?

Male Human Druid 2

Stefnir stabs at the vines with his spear.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 Spear attack

1d8 ⇒ 2 Spear Damage.

"Hurry let's get this thing killed, and get back to the village. Something is very wrong there".

The Exchange

Jorgen can reach the boats on this side of the cove. Then it is about 300 feet or more across the open water to the stony beach and the terrified fisherfolk. There are two large fishing boats waiting with an old man and old woman in a bit of a shocked daze standing near the inquisitor.

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

Kurn's channel puts me back into consciousness? Am I still grappled/constricted?

The Exchange

The strikes of Ari, Stefnir and Anya bite home. Ragnar regains conscious as his bonds ease and the vines all stop moving. With a collective sigh of relief, the air is punctured by the sound of phut, phut.

Urchin spine at Stefnir 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13, damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4, and Kurn 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16, damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The last of the mossy vines slides to a stop against the walls of the shrine. And Kurn's desperate plea brings the sound of gurgling and crashing waves all about.

Kurn

Spoiler:
A picture of an isle in a bitter sea hits, the centre of the rock is covered in boulders in a pattern. His mind's eye travels down through the stone inside to a large cave in the shape of a star, with motifs and sigils to Krakis. However overwhelming anger and pain revolve around, until the source comes into view out of the darkness, a white horn beast with fangs of icy steel and a frosty breath. The wings and serpentine tail are almost hidden in the shadows.

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

Ragnar rises to his feet, surveying the situation. He loads a bullet into his sling, watching the urchins above the party.
Rising and loading the sling are move actions, so that would be my turn.

Male Human (Kreig) Inquisitor 2

As Jorgen comes to the docks he looks at the old man and woman, snapping hem out of their shock.

"Quickly, I need to get across there before that monster kills everybody."

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

"Leave those - there is something bad happening in the village!" Helga calls to all.

Female Human Barbarian/2

Hearing her sister Anya suddenly remembers the strange feeling she had regarding the people om the beach.
Grinding one arm of the plant thing under her heel out of pure spite the barbarian allows her fury to fade.
Fatigue and renewed pain from herb wounds washes over her but the stalwart warrior still manages to make her way outside as fast as she can. Still careful those of any attacks from the spine creatures
Is a Ref or acrobatics roll needed to avoid an AoO?

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Kurn is staggered by his vision, but hears Helga and stumbles toward the cave entrance.

Female Human Barbarian/2

PS, are we still in rounds?

The Exchange

Anyone that stays in the Krakis Shrine is in rounds, otherwise things are a bit more fluid. I'll describe what the scene across the cove when I have a bit more time.

Feel free to roleplay a little bit if you wish as you leave.

Jorgen is already outside commanding one old man at his fishing boat to hurry, Kurn is staggering out white as a sheet, Anya has charged out after Helga.

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

As they rush to the water's edge and the boat Jorgen is commandeering Helga lays a healing spell on Anya.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

The mute sailor picks up his dropped axe and dagger from the shrine floor, sparing a murderous glance at the urchins above. He staggers out behind the rest, pausing to hack and cough. He spits blood and phlegm onto the beach and turns to see what the commotion is about.

Male Half-Elf Rogue 2

Ari seeing the rest of the party make for the entrance, follows to the beach and the boats.

Female Human Barbarian/2

As the healing energy washes over her Anya turns a grateful smile on her sister.
Then, noticing Ragnar, Anya grabs Helga's shoulder, pointing him out and hoping her talented sister can do something to help the gravely injured warrior as well.

Anya is now at 18hp I believe. Oh, and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & an early Happy New Years everyone! : )

Male Human Druid 2

With a startled cry Stefnir realizes that the rest of the party has rushed to the front of the cave. He turns eying the strange creature, and trying his best to avoid the urchins, stabs the vine one last time, then hustles to join the group.
