Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Kurn went with Helga in response to Anya's shouting.

He examines Drago's body for signs of foul play other than the obvious!

"I wonder how he ended up here so close to the village, but with no sign of Taggrik or the others?" Kurn says quietly to Helga and Stefnir.

He then straightens up and exclaims "we should bury him at sea with honour. It is right that his body should be burned along with his ship. Who will help me carry him to the lodge so that his body can be prepared properly?"

He then speaks quietly over the body "may your spirit travel swiftly to the side of my Lord Krakis my brother of the sea"

Female Human Barbarian/2

Looking at the priest with genuine respect for one of the few times since she's known him, Anya claps the man on the shoukder and says quietly but with feeling "That is well and good. You can count on me for whatever aid you may need in this endeavour"

Male Half-Elf Rogue 2

Ari returns to the rest of the group and asks what has been going in his absence.
He will then help with any preparations to get ready for ridding the shrine of the plant.

The Exchange

Perception check for Ragnar/Anya/Kurn and Jorgen DC14 (Kurn gets +2)

Spoiler:
Ari, Kurn's brother has a nice shiny sword. A thinblade. Something he never had before. There is alot going on and alot to notice and think about.

"What's that?" Helga points across the bay. "It wasn't there when we left the shrine."

The Exchange

Close observation from everyone now that Helga has drawn attention to the white object on the beach shows up a four foot shaft ending with a glinting set of three prongs, pointing towards the entrance to the shrine.

Has it washed up, or has someone or something dropped it?

"Let us carry out Drago's funeral, then return to the shrine and cleanse it! Are we in agreement?"

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

"By Valhalla, yes," Helga nods emphatically.

"What are you all looking at"?

Wow. FW have you cursed all my characters dice rolls? I think I'll start rolling real dice, and making a digital movie of the results ;-)

Male Half-Elf Rogue 2

"I also think cleansing the shrine first, may put us in the gods good books and will give Drago a better send off"

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

"Very well. Let's take Drago's body back to the hall and then we go to the shrine". Kurn moves takes hold of Drago's right arm and looks at the others, awaiting their help to lift him with dignity.

The mute sailor grabs Drago's other arm and helps Kurn move him.

Female Human Barbarian/2

To help him keep the dignity in death that he deserves Anya corrects the men, taking Drago's arms out of their hands and then helps them move the body continuing to use the leather poncho to carry him with.

Should we also help ourselves to the secret weapon stash that Freki mentioned?

The Exchange

Sawrik and Freki approach the group they have a variety of weapons. All have been kept clean and dry in furs. All glisten ready to be used.

"These are for now. I want them back once the shrine is clear. They are not yours, they are not mine, they belong to Lord Bombur and his son. Should the stones prove true and you help the village a good deal then who knows what may happen."

[ooc]There are two greataxes, two longspears, two battleaxes and a pair of wooden shields, each with the symbol of a wavy serpent at sea."

The one-eyed bard fixes his eye on Kurn, "good luck, priest. The omens are good for today."

Kurn

Spoiler:
There was no trident before the sea mist came in, or you would have walked straight past it. That mist can be a sign of the presence of the Stormlord.

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

"Thank you" says Kurn to the Bard. He then turns to Freki and anybody else with a free hand "bring the weapons to the hall. We will equip ourselves there." As the party walks along, "I'm a sailor not a warrior, so how do you think we should deal with clearing the shrine from a tactical point of view" Kurn looks mainly at Stefnir as party leader and Anya as our fine warrior.

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

"I am no warrior, but I can tell you this: if you wish to assail a plant you must hew the stem and not the branch. We need to identify that part and cut it asunder to kill it."

The Exchange

"No." Sawrik shakes his head. "The Hall belongs to Lord Mercik and he is busy with Tavnia at the moment. Decide who gets what now. Then take a boat."

There are still three boats and a couple of coracles, despite the sudden mist there are still three old men and one woman repairing their nets. One was the slightly deaf man that helped Kurn before.

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

Ragnar picks up a battleaxe and makes his tactical recommendations without being invited.
"Uhn-yuh 'n muh shuhld guh uhn fruhn', kuhp uht's uhttuhnshn. Kuhn 'n Stfnuh huhng buhck wuhth Huhguh, yuhz yuh muhguhk uh thuh spuhs. Uhruh cuhn cuhcle ruhn buhck 'n guht th' vuhnuhble suhd."

Spoiler:
"Anya and me should go in front, keep its attention. Kurn and Stefnir hang back with Helga, use your magic or the spears. Ari can circle 'round back and get the vulnerable side."

The Exchange

And Jorgen?

Saorise stays with the Albatross when she gets told what is happening.

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

Oh, I didn't realize he was still with us.
"... uhn Yuhguhn cuhn kuhp pruhzuh uhn uht uht ruhnge uh wuhth uh spuh.", he continues after a pause.

Spoiler:

"I have this," Helga strings her bow. "Let us go."

Kurn looks at Sawrik in disbelief. "So you will be looking after Drago's body until we return then? With respect, we can't be in two places at once Sawrik!" Kurn sighs and says to the party "ok, lower Drago to the ground and choose your weapons as requested" Kurn then moves to the old deaf man "Can you help us get back to the shrine again please? There could be up to eight of us this time"

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

"Let's place Drago's body on the ship, Kurn," Helga heads off a possible disagreement. "Saorise can watch over him there."

Male Half-Elf Rogue 2

Ari will take a greataxe as his strength will be of good use in killing the plant.

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

"The voice of reason yet again Helga". Kurn smiles at Helga.

Female Human Barbarian/2

Anay merely nods her head at the other's 'war' plans, after all, how difficult could it possibly be to kill a plant. She even had the thought of simply volunteering to do the job herself but the others seemed, understandably, excited at the chance for some action, however slim or pitiful it might be. Plus also perhaps some small voice of caution warns the fearless barbarian lass that her sister would not likely be so concerned for naught.
Regardless, Anya grabs the other greataxe, as she had always admired the weapon and enjoyed the deadly feel of it the few tines she had been able to try it out, but at the same time she makes very sure to also place her fine longspear in the bottom of the boat as well.

The Exchange

Saorise takes the body on the deck. She looks happy with the suggestion of Helga, but then so does Sawrik.

The deaf old man listens to Kurn and squints to help him concentrate then he shouts back, "eight! No, you know ships or are you a landsman? Eight! Some go in another boat with Javvig. And watch those spears. This is a fishing boat not a longship."

Gradually the deaf old man and Javvig load up the party into their vessels, Ragnar, Helga, Ari, and Kurn. Freki steps forwards, "I can fight let be come," he adds looking at Anya.

Not sure if Stefnir and Jorgen want to go but with the dangers of the shrine I guess they would go. Please post one way or the other,

Female Human Barbarian/2

"Of course" Anya says, as with genuine affection she claps the big man on the shoukder "another strong arm is always welcome. To be honest I don't know how much we'll need it against some silly plant, but come, come."
"And you better keep and eye on the three lads for us!" She adds, glaring at the one eyed bard

Male Human Druid 2

Stefnir is troubled at the idea of this man-eating plant, and nervous about entering the shrine, but realizes this is something he must do. he will grab the remaining longspear, and follow the rest to the shrine.

The Exchange

Sawrik has walked off after his orders are given. He doesn't even notice Anya. Soon everyone is shuttled across to the stony beach.

Indeed there is a whitewood trident with glistening silver prongs lying there. The morning light shows up the droplets of seawater and it could be surrounded by piles of natural seaweed.

The doorway beckons.....

The Exchange

I'll draw up a map of the shrine this evening (its 10am here).

Male Human (Kreig) Inquisitor 2

Equipping himself with one of the longspears Jorgen nods, a resolute lookin his stone grey eyes as the group prepares to face the monster. He seems at ease as if in his natural element facing such a creature.

Male Half-Elf Rogue 2

Ari plants his feet firmly into the pebbles on the beach, glad to be on dry land again.
He is paying close attention to the trident and its surroundings.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

"I have a feeling, Kurn, that the trident is for you to use," Helga remarks, not touching the item.

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Kurn crouches down and gently touches the trident. If nothing nasty happens he will pick it up and lead the party into the shrine.

The Exchange

If anything, the trident brightens at Kurn's touch. When he picks it up, the three points glitter.

Ari notices that the trident leaves a hand sized and shaped frond of seaweed that drops away in a heap as Kurn takes the weapon.

Kurn

Spoiler:
Clearing the shrine is important, but also there is an intricate series of prayers and the offer of a gift of some significance to Krakis to show the Stormlord that his cave should be hallowed.

The Exchange

French Wolf wrote:

Map done, scanner is down I should be able to upload the map tomorrow while my daughter sleeps.

The Exchange

I'll need party order for entering the narrow crack of the shrine. Also intiatives will be needed at some point so let's get them out the way. Finally Thanksgiving isn't so much of a deal over here but will it effect the majority of the party so that we should delay things over the weekend. This can go in the discussion thread.

The deaf old man waits by his boat. Javvig goes over and talks to him, soon the two women on their coracles bring their pipes too and they chatter about the excitement of today. Javvig mentions missing Tormin, that morning. Perhaps his cough had gotten worse?

Meanwhile across the cove, there seems to be lots of people outside their longhouses at work or at least giving that impression. The children are openly stood in clumps on each rise watching.

Again the stones crunch underfoot as Kurn heads into the shadowy tunnel. As he enters, the first twenty feet or so seem the same.

The map has been sent out now let me know if you didn't get it. Also please remember to post your positions when moving around this will speed things up and make my life a lot easier.

Male Half-Elf Rogue 2

Addressing the party, Ari says,"I believe this is where my skills may come into their own. If someone will back me up with some light, I could go in first, What say you all?"

"Yuh. Uh'll buhck yuh up."

Ragnar will follow second, either with a dagger in his off-hand or a torch.
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

Helga sings a snatch of song and a quartet of glowing globes of light bob and dance ahead of the party into the shrine.

"Good enough?" she asks with a grin.

Helga will hang well back in the marching order, bow ready.

Male Half-Elf Rogue 2

Ari draws his greataxe and steathily moves into the shrine, waiting for Ragnar to follow with a torch.

Tripping on some loose gravel on the way in.

Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Distracted for a moment by the throng on the opposite side of the harbour, still wondering why everyone seems so excited about a damn plant, Anya misses being able to enter first into the shrine and grunts her displeasure at herself. Moving quickly though she catches up to be either directly beside or behind Ragnar, her axe at the ready, out of long habit more than any thought of real need.

Hey FW, what email of mine did you send the map to? If you didn't have an address for me, you can use the email I put in the OOC just now. Thanks.

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Kurn stops and addresses the party." Does anybody have any thing of value to place on the alter as a gift, as my Lord Krakis will expect tribute? Don't touch anything in the shrine please, well expect anything that may attack us!" he chuckles grimly. "Ari you are right, we need light and I think you should scout ahead slightly. The rest of us will be right behind you".

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

The light situation is already dealt with (dancing lights).

"I already gave all the silver I have, Kurn," Helga replies.

Male Human (Kreig) Inquisitor 2

Jorgen is silent as he makes his way, taking up a rear guard position.
