Torch bearer and meat shield may also be fine choices ofr iconic kobold characters. Someone has to proceed the party into the dungeon, crypt, mausoleum, etc, to make sure there are no traps or other nasties to bar their way through to the BBEG. Of course, if you get a particularly bright kobold, it may be a candidate for Map Monkey.

I think my favorites are trap springer and pet chow (weaning my baby terrasque on snowbold and white dragon flesh)

I would like to see a return of the lawful-blooded and chaos-blooded humanoids, similar to the tiefling and the aasimar, really. The zenthyri and chaond were interesting, but not all that popular, which was a pity.
I get tired of the old 'good and evil' tropes. I like the Elic saga's take on law and chaos, as well as the Time's Master series gods of Order and Chaos (which were not good and evil respectively!)

There is a reason Kobolds are extinct in my GMs world...The main city was blown up, sending half the mountain they lived in into the sky with mundane explosives. The rest were hunted and killed with a giant bounty on their heads. This was because the captured and imprsoned the greatest assassin in the world.
1000 years later, the only great worm left, the white dragon Wintersfoire, sad at the loss of kobolds, has devised magic to mutate white dragon eggs to hatch hundreds of Snowbolds. I am playing a ranger with them as my new favorite enemy and hope to elimate them from the earth as well.
What? Who would hate them for capturing an assassin? This doesn't make any sen-
Oh. The PCs did this. I get it now.

I'll need you to cite sources on this assertion as I rarely play at a table with humans.
I agree none of the current group I am running are playing humans
but they are actually humans
As for playing with humans, I'm not sure why anyone would want to. Terribly boring lot. I myself play with a greater demon of Gluttony, a greater demon of Sloth, a Pit Fiend, a Janni, a Chaos Elemental and an Awesome Elemental. Someone should have been there to record the epic clash last week when the Janni tried to interrupt my BBEG and get a surprise round. Lightning flew and shook the heavens, possible dimensions were destroyed, and my summer castle was turned into a tornado that swept through Elfland, killing thousands.
But as usual I was right, talking is TOTALLY a free action.
On a related note, I need a new handbook (It didn't save against the pit fiend's fireball).

i'd like to see a female tian-min "child" iconic dressed in a black kimono, probably with the appearance of a 12ish year old girl. probably as an alternate iconic rogue or ninja. little girls can adventure too. we'd have not only a tian for diversity, but another female for the women's empowerment crowd, and a child for the preteen players to identify with. we'd also lure a few more anime geeks. just don't put any abberations in the same image.

Caineach, he couldn't possibly have been the greatest assassin if he got captured by a bunch of stinking kobolds.
4hp! A house cat could likely kill them. House cats can kill a level 1 commoner y'know.
I did not play in that campaign, so I'm a bit fuzzy on some of the detail. Its an ongoing world and we are on the 4th campaign since then. I believe he was captured by the ancient blue dragon the kobolds worshiped and merely held captive by said dragon. Also, all epic character start as measly level 1 noobs.
As a note, the player who played the assassin has said killing off the kobolds was a mistake... It meant he didn't get to kill any in the next 3 campaigns. Now he is loving the snowbold smashing, but wont make the mistake of exterminating them again. At lvl 3 the party has already killed more than 70 of them.

No aberrations? No chance. This game is too small to have 12ish-year-old heroines and tentacly-endowed critters in different locations.

True.
