well my instructor wants me to some sort of comparison on how the norse mythos affected their culture and compare it to how the many faiths affect ours today

It's the comparison part I'm a bit perplexed by. How the many faiths affect out culture today? :S Geez. Field of comparison is too big, and you're comparing a coherent culture to a fragmented one.

I didn't hear that Dagon may have been associated with the broader Canaanite pantheon until recently, as the son of El and father of Ba'al.

Yeah, it's kinda weird when you delve into Caanan/Phonecia and Carthaganian history and religion. Odd stuff. Funny how poor Dagon (and most of the Caananite gods) got literaly demonized by the Israelites over time..
