I'm not dead!Remind me to remember to write down the coordinates, I'm always forgetting!
And is the human still there? She is! Excellent! Are any of the flesh golems still alive?

No, I want to see his reaction. I am about to prove an earlier point.

There have been some pretty good traps from old source material like dungeon magazine; I loved the toilet trap; where players got flushed down a bowl; through the pipes and into a sewer with lots of yuck monsters at the bottom.
I am currently enjoying using mushrooms toxic to mammals; ie humans and most player classes; gives all kinds of problems to players before they fight a race much less powerful than them one on one.
I also like the old wall of mounted heads stuck into the wall that my kobold can look through the skulls to observe oncomming parties.
Door or floor section with a trap that fires a Ballista that shoots down a long hallways is one of my favorites; lots of variations of this one.
Chains or ropes hanging like man o war tenticles (or better yet; man o war tenticles themselves as the creature doesnt need to be alive for them to work) down a long hallway that reach nearly to the floor and are thick with poison.
my kobolds are mosty prehistoric; so use stone and leather stuff; so putting a rust monster or so in with them scares the pants off those heavy metal guys; lol; lots of fun that.

Oooh, Rust Monsters! I had a pet Rust Monster named Adam... then the evil, mean nasty Humans came along with their spell-casters and killed him. That Paladin of Bahamut was funny, running away and screaming like a little girl!
*sighs contentedly* I might have to trap another Rust Monster soon...
Once I nearly caught one, but then it escaped. That's when I started making wood cages. Of course, now I feel glad I didn't catch it--now it's causing trouble at the Poodle thread!

Poodles make awesome traps when properly motivated.

This place looks interesting. And they seem to like poodles like me...

No reason it can't be both! We're efficient like that.

There's also sting stings with traps built into them.
Giant spiders with explosive runes written on their underbelly. When they die and the adventurer's flip them over...BOOOM!
Beetles with Dead Man Switches too. Creature dies and falls over and triggers the trap it's carrying (fusilade of poison darts, anyone?).
Livin' the dream, I tells ya.

Never overlook the square cut in the ceiling.
Best way to get them to forget about it is to put something interesting on the floor right under it. A pile of "treasure" with a sign "free gold" right under the drop point is classic. Also works with bird seed if you've got roadrunner problems...

The classic trap door leading to a pit full of kobold deep water (ie waist deep for humans) with some zombies in it is fun.
Variant: Same pit trap, only have the water comfortable and warm, perhaps with sweet-smelling oils and a cheerfully painted rubber ducky. Maybe have a permanent ghost sound of calming music. Symbols of Sleep on walls.
Variant #2: Dig the pit into an area with lots of volcanic heat. Boiling water with various vegetables, herbs and spices floating in it. Add adventurers and simmer 'til done.
A trap that casts Web that is guarded by some of your tribal incorporeal undead. You need to keep their numbers under control as this trap sometimes leads to a population boom in undead spawn. Best to use in an area faaar from the tribe.

Looks like those Cleaver boys are in a heap of trouble. (banjo music)
I think this thread has a winner. Well-played, sir.
