Really? Your childhood memories have lasted this long unsullied?
I feel ripped off.
I have seen rule 34 on Flight of the Navigator (don't ask, please, if you don't ask, I don't have to remember).
And lets just say I (and probably a lot of other people) got pranked quite well by a, ahem, video of the grown-up sort where at the moment of the big finish it suddenly cut to the fluffy dragon from Neverending Story groaning loudly in releif or some such. Shattered the mood like ice-cubes under a sledgehammer.
They still working on He-Man and Thundercats? Be interesting to see what Hollywood does to Cheetara, considering how not tame she was back in the tame old 80's.

Yup those are still in development.

There was a rumour sweeping the Interwebs today that they were GOING TO REMAKE ALIEN.
What the hell? Who thought that was a good idea?
Luckily, no-one. Ridley Scott calmed everyone down by saying that no, it's just going to be a prequel and 'origin story' instead. You know, because the xenomorphs badly need an origin story. They could have it that the elephant guy dude sitting in that chair was a scientist and he made all the aliens as a bio-weapon, because that wouldn't totally suck or anything, would it?
We can be grateful it isn't a remake because I'm not sure that Scott would have been able to resist the temptation to cast Russell Crowe as Ripley.
Meanwhile, for further proof that the end times are upon us and humanity as we know it is doomed, they are remaking Buffy without Joss Whedon's involvement. I am absolutely not kidding.

Buffy - Joss = Fuel for my star-eating hatred of all human life.
This is either going to make me depressed or enraged. Either way, I'm glad my wife has good insurance. 10 dollar co-pay for Prozac will be nice, since I'm sure I'll be downing it by the gallon after this comes out.
Ack, I can't even continue this post. Rage making illiteracy for great hurr durr hurr derp.

You know, I'm just waiting for the eventual meeting of movie execs when this is said:
"I've got a great idea. Here's a movie we could remake: The Godfather! It's a great story that just needs to be updated with hip young actors, a modern, high-tech edge, and some great CGI. I'm picturing Christian Bale as Don Corleone..."

In a refreshing change to the remake formula, Glen A. Larson also wants to 'demake' BATTLESTAR GALACTICA by making a big-budget movie based on the original 1978-80 TV show (the cornball one with robot dogs and them reusing the same effects shot 15 times per episode) and totally ignoring the 2003-09 reimagined version (you know, the one that's made everyone aware of the name and won a ton of awards) because he hates it.
Oddly, none of the studios seems to be biting so far.

Actually Glen was an executive producer and consultant on the remake, so he really doesn't hate it as much as you might think. Personaly, as a fan of both, I'd like to see a movie based on the old series. Maybe even a story that links the two series together.

The only somewhat positive note I could see about a remake of The Princess Bride would be the possibility of casting Paul Wight as Fezzik. Not that Andre didn't have his charm, but at least it would be easier to understand this guy.
That being said, I really, really would rather they leave this one alone.

That would ignite a rage not unlike Rovagug's. The Godfather does not need to be remade. Ever. Any of them. Neither do a lot of these other movies, for that matter.

I'm still waiting for the remake of the original Star Wars trilogy. There's still a few ounces of goodwill left in me for them, but I think if George Lucas and company were to hack away at them with a ton of CGI and a few extra s~!~-joke based characters, they could really destroy the last hanging shred of my soul.
Oh wait...that's not a shred of my soul...it's a piece of the bus I ran off the road yesterday.
Anyway, the point remains: remake Star Wars, Empire, and Jedi! And do it soon! And make the Ewoks even cuter. And add more poop jokes. And what about a happy ending for Empire? Did I mention more CGI? I'm thinking that Jabba should have a fleet of sleds pulled by moon-dogs and his little sidekick should change shape into rapidly dated pop-culture references.
Oh yes, this is oscar-worthy material...

Larson's name on the credits was a legal thing as he created the original series and wrote the first episode, which the new series' pilot mini-series was effectively a remake of. None of the writers or producers on the new series had any contact with him whatsoever and he was scathing about it when asked in interviews.

Erasing the original Anakin and inserting the whinny Anakin at the end of RotJ, just wasn't enough for you?
That definitely ruins one scene, but there are so many scenes that could be ruined, there's just so much potential...
Of course, now you've made me realize something unsettling. If I were to watch Star Wars/Empire/Jedi for the first time today, my response would be "WTF is with the dumb ghosts? What a lame way to provide exposition. And why are they ghosts?"
Unsettling...

Another movie that should not be remade. However, I would not mind a sequal.
Acutally a lot of places are reporting on the makings of a sequel and that a script for the remake is in the works.

Nothing is sacred. I'm surprised they haven't decided to remake "The Wizard of Oz" with Paris Hilton as Dorothy. Or better yet, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" with Ashton Kutcher reprising Jack Nicholson's role.
Hollywood sucks these days (Although the Star Trek movie rocked!)
They already ruined "The Wizard of Oz" with a little something called "The Wiz". It starred Michael Jackson!

I still say they should do everyone a favor and only remake movies they could actually improve on. I'm tired of seeing classics "re-imagined" by people with little imagination.
But, who are those people. No one sees themselves as haveing "little imagination." (Even Uwe Boll is trying to make a great film.)
What needs to happen is that people need to stop rushing to see these "remakes" and insist on new ideas and stories.

I disagree. Based on his track record, it seems Uwe Boll is trying to make money in film-making - nothing more, nothing less. I do not believe he is trying to make great films.

I was watching a couple of plays that seemed to be rife with plot expositing ghosts too. Hamlet? MacBeth? That Shakespeare guy totally ripped Lucas off! :)
(Not that I would ever compare Lucas favourably to Shakespear...ever)

Wizard of Oz - 2010
Finally! It better have realistic flying monkeys this time, though. The last time they did it they looked like little people in suits!
