Anyone remember "the Badger".

I have heard good things about the series, but it came out when I only had the funds to get a couple of books from the "big 2". I should check out the series. Thanks for the reminder, Xabulba.

I was cooking it on low in a crock pot. The heat doesn't get any lower. Hmmm. There must be a solution to this dilemma. That will probably be much more obvious when I'm less sleep deprived. :)

Add just a touch of water. Keeps it from getting to thick and burnt up.

Remember when Homer had to deal with the badger on the Simpsons?

What do badgers eat?

Chicken wings and amish style potato salad. Was Awesome!!! Also, on a side note, picked up an economy sized bag of fish sticks and tater tots!! Should be good all week without worry of running out! ;)

Must remember to not shop on an empty stomach!!! I always get way too much!!

I like a good steak.

According to Wikipedia, American badgers are primarily carnivorous and eat ground-dwelling rodents (gophers, yum!). Rotting fruit is intoxicating to badgers.

This seems baffling: "In North America, coyotes sometimes eat badgers and vice versa, but the majority of their interactions seem to be mutual or neutral."

Woo hoo! Road trip!

Ok, discussion question answered, 3 discussion posts made, half a chapter read and 3 examples answered..... feeling fairly productive enough to stop for the night. :)

Reading over the posts I missed:

Roger Ebert has man boobs, so everything he types on a forum comes with boobs.

Bbq is best from the tailgate. In the parking lot. Eaten off off boobies.

Lent. I'm there. fish sticks and tater tots? Cool.

:)

No fish sticks for me. :(
I'm allergic.

At my house it's more like chicken nuggets and tater tots. And yes, that would be every night if my son had his way. Luckily he doesn't make the grocery list. :)

Wait... I'm not supposed to have identified with Hagrid? My bad.

Except for those days I identify with Hermione. Woefully underappreciated and surrounded by morons. But enough about work.

If it doesn’t have feet or lives in water then it's not meat according to the Catholic Church. It doesn't make much sense but that's religion for you.

Asian fusion fajitas. It all started one day when I was making my fajita maranade and accidently grabbed the ginger instead of the cumin....

Mmm. Fajitas sounds yummy.

Grocery shopping accomplished. I don't know what's worse, the shock from the bill or having to carry all the heavy bags in from the car. Ah, who am I kidding. The bill is so much way worse. My debit card is crying now. :(

On the bright side, since my husband is going to be gone for a work trip all next week I was able to plan fun easy meals, like hot dogs, and chicken nuggets and tortellini. This will make the kid very happy and will mean that I get five whole days when all I really have to do is heat stuff up. :)

Might I recommend this thead? Just a sample of what you will find there:

Easy Cheesy Tortellini
1 lb ground beef
1 lb mild italian sausage
1 jar chunky vegetable pasta sauce
6 ounce can italian style tomato sauce
15 ounce can italian style diced tomatoes
1 cup mushrooms
Medium onion, diced
19 ounce bag frozen three cheese tortellini

Brown the ground beef and the italian sausage together in a skillet. Place in a slow cooker on high, add the remaining ingredients, minus the tortellini, and mix together. Cook on high for 3-5 hours or low for 8-10 hours. 45 minutes before serving add the frozen tortellini and cook until heated through. Serve with grated paermesan cheese and garlic bread.

Taco Soup
1 lb ground beef
two 14 ounce cans mexican style tomatos
1 cup beef broth
two 14 ounce cans whole kernnel con
two 14 ounce cans kidny beans
three 8 ounce cans tomato sauce
1 small onion minced
1 package taco seasoning mix

Brown the ground beef and then add the onion and saute together. Combine the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20-30 minutes. Serve with shreded chedder cheese, tortilla chips, and sour cream.

Easy Meals + Fun Food Time with kid = Epic Win - the headaches of cooking...or something like that... :)

I have to stop looking at the threads with food. My stomach is getting angry with me... :P

And for you adults out there:

Black and Tan Mac and Cheese
6 cups water
24 ounces lager beer
16 ounces rustic shaped pasta (Ziti)
1 cup whole milk
1 cup half-and-half
12 ounces evaporated milk
5 tablespoons lightly salted quality Irish butter
2 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground dry mustard
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/3 cup stout beer
3 ounces shredded smoked Gruyere
8 ounces shredded Irish Cheddar
1/2 cup bread crumbs, Japanese panko, or fresh country white
1/2 cup crisp cooked apple wood or maple bacon crumbles
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro leaves or several sage leaves for garnish

Place water and lager beer into a 4 1/2 quart or larger saucepan over high heat and bring to boil, add pasta and cook until just al dente. Drain and keep warm.
Meanwhile in 3 quart saucepan, over medium-high heat, bring the milk, half-and-half, and evaporated milk just to a boil, keep hot. In a 4 quart saucepan, over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of the butter and stir in flour until it begins to color slightly, whisk in hot milk, mustard, salt, cayenne, and stout, and bring to a strong simmer. Reduce heat to low and stir in cheeses until melted. Place pasta into serving dish and pour the cheese sauce over the pasta.

Place remaining butter in a large saute pan over medium heat and stir in bread crumbs, stir until golden brown, stir in bacon crumbles. Spread mixture over top of macaroni. Garnish with cilantro or sage leaves.

What's going on with y'all this weekend?

I'm going to take my son and his friend to see the movie "9". I'm looking forward to that. Otherwise, I'll probably check out the NFL games on Sunday and try to get some writing done.

9 was pretty sweet.

Hopefully going to finish some rewriting this weekend.

my weekend consists of going home, the big state rivalry game is this weekend at my school, the town turns into a zoo. anyone want to see crazy Iowans, only $8 per person, children under 12 free.

There's nothing halfway about Iowans when they go whole hog nuts.

especially when it comes to the Iowa v. Iowa State game. We go big or go home but always either way being drunk is a crucial part
they open the student lot at the stadium at 4 am.
