What kind of puppies? I'm cool with puppies, but E7 might get tired of being peed on all the time.

I have a big oval oak table which would lend itself quite well to gaming, as it does to eating. As for puppies I have three: A 130-lb Golden retreiver named George, a 30-pound Boston Terrier named Wilbur, and a 25-pound Boston Terrier named Noelle. They love visitors, especially vegetative ones ...

I will luv him, and squeeze him, and I will name him George. George is my friend....

E7's a vegetarian? He looks like a vegetable, but ents have a rational soul, so that's kind of a tough philosophical nut to crack. So he's definitely not a cannibal...I think.

I eat just about all kinds of meat, but not puppy. Puppies are our friends. Rabbits, I haven't made a strong ruling on, but one of these days, to be consistent, I'm either going to have to stop eating them or stop befriending them. Doesn't feel right somehow.

Omnivore, on a see-food diet. ;)

I said 'vegetative' visitors, not 'vegetarian' visitors. My house is very accomidating to the vegetable kingdom. If you need somewhere to sink your roots I have a lovely compost pile. All my flowers seem to enjoy it. You will have to be wary of Noelle, she never got the memo that dogs aren't supposed to eat greens.

David: Felicitations on your new pal Banana! Just remember, the kids love the new dog, but you as the father will end up feeding and cleaning up after him/her, no matter what the arraingement. It's like an unwritten dad law :)

Anyone else sick of summer? I am so looking forward to Fall. It's funny how your perspective changes when you no longer have school as your life boundary. Summer just doesn't feel like a lot of fun. I can't wait to harvest my pumpkins. I already have one that's pushing 30 lbs and it's not September yet.

I also can't wait for fall. Luckily, it's been a very mild summer, but I'm ready for cooler temperatures.

Pictures of your pumpkins? That 30-pound beast sounds pretty awesome.

By the way, which character should I play next: a paladin of Asmodeus or a cleric with heavy armor? :)

Was here as well, and rainy except for the last month. August was tough, very hot and humid. I'll see if I can get a picture of the big guy up tomorrow, today we suffer the lash of once-Tropical Storm Danny.

As for pally vs. cleric, I have a soft spot for tanking clerics, so do the heavy armor :)

Silver Crusade

I like the fall.

>Big pumpkin<

I am hoping it will get to the 60-80lb range, I got to about 50lbs for max size last year with my previous pumpkins

Liberty's Edge

Pay no attention. Fnord.

I grew some a few years back; nothing that big but I had some good sized stuff.

(lol) I gave one to a friend; didn't use pesticides and this giant green Kyuss worm crawled out of it....he says "cool. Now THAT'S Halloweeny."
Where are you at? I grew them in Florida, and I think Florida's too hot for them; it seemed like the pumpkins that survived got shade for half a day; not sure. I think it's better to grow them at higher latitudes; not sure.

I'm in Massachusetts, the original Halloween-feeling area. Pumpkins do pretty well around here, in fact my house abuts a derelict pumpkin farm. Last year I kinda slacked and didn't keep them watered as much as I should, or weeded. This year I've been pretty on top of things.

Liberty's Edge

I think the sun's easier on them up there; I remember trying to lay out in Virginia one time in summer and having the same exact pasty white skin an hour later.

I think you are right. I know that the record-breaking pumpkins usually come from Nova Scotia, which is even further north.

Wow, I tell you it was like someone threw a big switch here and it became Fall. 50 degrees at night, 70 degrees in the day, cool, crisp, faint sea smell in the air ... Man I love September.

Same here. Upper 70s and upper 50s where I am. I love it.

Still hot here in Texas. At least the highs are only in the mid 90s instead of the 100s.

Yeah Texas always seemed hot to me when I lived there, except that one-month window around Christmas where it got freakin' cold. I mean, I wear shorts down to 45 degrees around here, one reason I could never settle in a warmer spot.

Silver Crusade

The other day we had a low in the 40s. I was walking out to my car, and thinking maybe I should have worn a coat...

Thank God we're finally getting a modicum of relief.

Pumpkin patches are awesome. Saw some big 'uns in Jersey.

I'm the opposite. There's no way I could live in the north. The cold and the short winter days would drive me up the wall.

Isn't it sad that some people can't even talk comic books without turning it into a left/right, conservative/liberal discussion?

You're on, Fryer.

So...which is DC and which is Marvel? ;)

DC is the one that used to mostly suck when I was a kid.

Marvel is the one that mostly sucks now.

Heh-heh. Well, that answers that.

Something tells me my players are going to hate it when I hit them with a treant ninja.

Taig - greenMAN

Fryer - Do it do it do it!!!

Yeah. I may hate my state's politics, but I love my state's weather. And trees. El Paso had no trees (at least no unwatered trees). Big sky scares a forest-dwelling monkey like me.

Talk to Neil Spicer about adding the "drunken" template to it. :)

Drunken Treant Master...heh-heh.

Just don't take a leak on him.

Dear god.

What has happened to my face?

IAMNOTA SMURF!!!

This would have been great in another thread...I must remember, can't believe I forgot that scene.

Just checking.

So anyone have any fun things planned for Labor Day? I am sticking by the house (what a surprise) but I think I am going to fire the grill up for an end-of-summer barbeque. My wife is also planning to make brisket, so the carnivore aspect of my diet will be taken care of. I've got to get some corn and maybe dig up a few of my onion bulbs for the veg..

The wife is having to work a lot of extra hours, as her firm tries to wrap up for tax day. So it looks like my weekend is kind of a fizzle.

Taking the kids to the county faire and then charring some animal flesh on my grill. Monday Night Football for sure. Dreading the kids going back to school the next day where they will be welcomed by President Obama.
