Liberty's Edge

After being slashed with the beasts claw, Bengal wobbles on her feet for a moment and then collapses into a heap on the ground, her body completely rigid.

Fortunately Loren sends his sword forward, slashing neatly through the creature, causing it to fall in two pieces.

The room behind the creature looks to be completely empty, lacking any furniture of decorations. When the monster drops, the door seems to start to swing closed on its own as if propelled.

Kolgun or Thel(since you were moving to get up there and your turn was next) can make a DC 12 Reflex save since they are next to it to interpose themselves in the doorway to stop it. Otherwise it will slam shut.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

loren will check bengal over, is she still breathing?

bad luck bengal!!, at least there were not sevreal more of the creatures waiting to finish you off

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Ouch...a cat-shaped punching bag :(

Liberty's Edge

She is still breathing, but is unable to move.

If one of you wants to make a healing check.

Heal DC 15

Spoiler:
She appears to be paralyzed, but from your inspections it doesn't look like it would last long.

Heal DC 20

Spoiler:
Looking at her scratch you can see that it already is strangely festering a bit and she likely caught something from the creature.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Looks over at Bengal, gently prodding her to make sure she's still alive before turning to the creature that froze her.

Heal Check (1d20+1=5)

Liberty's Edge

Were you going to try and catch the door, Thel?

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Although far from nimble, Kolgun steps forward as the door begins to swing shut to prevent the room from being sealed again.

He sets his shield down, using it to keep the door from completely closing, then turns his attentions to his friend who was injured in the short, but nasty brawl.

Reflex / Heal Check (1d20+1,1d20+7=[14, 1] 15, [12, 7] 19)

"The foul beast's touch seems to have paralyzed Bengal. But she seems to be recovering, even now. I don't believe the effects will last long."

Kolgun searches through his healing kit to see if there's a salve or ointment that will shorten the duration of the paralysis or ease any discomfort.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel is a moment too late to grab the door as he worries over Bengal's condition, and is unable to stop the door from closing..

Reflex save (1d20+3=8)

Liberty's Edge

Kolgun manages to put his bulk between the door and the wall, the heavy door thumps solidly against his shield and seems to be applying a steady pressure as if it is trying to close on its own but he is able to keep it open.

Even after just taking a few moments to try and look through his supplies Bengal seems to shake off the effects and is able to somewhat painfully stretch her muscles again.

Bengal was just paralyzed for 3 rounds, so it wasn't going to take any treatment, just enough to give a scare. Standing by the door you can see there is no obvious way to open it from the other side either. While it strangely seemed to remain open while the creature was standing there, with it dead one of you will need to stay beside the door and devote yourself to holding it open or it will shut again on its own.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

"Looks like that door is going to stay shut if we leave it alone. I'll wait here while you search the room," and offers to take over the shield.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

My posting will be a bit sporadic tomorrow (Friday). I'm not ignoring anyone, will be at work--on call until Saturday morning.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun takes his shield with a word of thanks to Thel, then begins searching the room that seems to be trying to close itself off. . . .

Perception (1d20+3=21)

He also muses over who, or what, would keep such a beast locked away and for what purpose?

Liberty's Edge

Looking around the small room, it does appear well and truly barren with no other exits or any furniture to hide any goods. However as you look around you manage to disturb a bit of dust on the ground revealing some sort of magical symbol set in the stone itself.

Its not immediately clear what it is for, though you do catch the symbol of the moon goddess Galarias inset within it.

I know a few of you tend to have detect magic active a lot of the time, or at least can turn it on at will. If any of you inspect it further, you can make a spellcraft check below. Anyone who is trained in knowledge(arcana) who looks at it can make that check.

Spellcraft DC 17

Spoiler:
The circle has an aura of necromancy.

Knowledge(Arcana) DC 17

Spoiler:
The circle seems similar to a magic circle, but it is obviously more powerful and seems to be designed either for the summoning or creation of undead.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun delicately sweeps the dust off the symbol. He takes a moment to examine it, but finds that beyond the religious significance of the symbol of the moon goddess Galarias, he is unable to glean any other potent or power from it.

Spellcraft (1d20+5=12)

He shakes his head, and looks to the others. Perhaps their training will provide some answers . . ..

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

spellcraft 25
arcana 19

Spoiler:
spellcraft http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2104905/
arcana http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2104906/

loren explains that The circle has an aura of necromancy.
and The circle seems similar to a magic circle, but it is obviously more powerful and seems to be designed either for the summoning or creation of undead. bad magic!

can loren rub out the circle? if so he will do so

Liberty's Edge

Rather then being painted it seems to actually be inset in the stone. If you try and chip at it, it seems surprisingly resistant to even being struck.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal lies on the floor while she waits for the monster's effects to wear off, and when it finally does, she stays there just a moment longer, sighing.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

kolgun can we remove some of the stones where the circle is?

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun inspects the stones to see if there is a spot where he could place a chisel to pry apart the necromantic circle. Such things should not be left intact.

Liberty's Edge

As the dwarf inspects the stone, he can tell for certain that it is not simply handcraft but the stone itself was shaped and hardened by magic. Giving some exploratory attempts with your chisel and spikes, it does not appear that any of you are able to scuff the stone.

What I mean by that is that while it is while the stone is certainly not impervious to damage and I tend to knock a little off the hardness of stone when you are using gear made for it(chisels, pickaxes, ect), it doesn't look like anyone in the party is strong enough to damage the stone at full hardness with your normal weapons or at reduced hardness with the specialized gear. You should be able to deal with this when either you have better equipment or you start being able to do more damage through other means.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun returns his work-hammer and chisel to his pack.

"Should we dispatch the beast that lurks in the next room, or continue our exploration?"

From his tone, it appears that he doesn't like the idea of leaving such a foul creature left alive, so to speak.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

let us kill the other beast, otherwise someone else less prepared may come across it

if someone does open the door loren will have a readied action to attack with his hand of the apprentice

Male Gnome Wizard-1

Knowledge Arcana and spellcraft (1d20+7=18, 1d20+7=13)

Aldrin will also ready a telekinetic fist.

sorry for the lack of posting. been having a bit of trouble logging on to the paizo boards. would have posted earlier tonight, but i just got done with a 17 hour workday, so i'm a bit beat. oh, in case we get in a fight, i'll go ahead and give an initiative roll too.

Initiative (1d20+2=13)

Liberty's Edge

Since it looks like you guys are opening the next door, I'll just need to hear from Thel and Bengal. And Kol, are you readying anything for the door to be opened, or are you planning on being the one to open it?

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Are we talking about room 3e?

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

nvm above post :P

Heads over to the second northern door, and listens at it, trying to determine what might be on the other side.

Daggers ready, he looks over at the rest of the party, getting ready to kick the door in.

Perception (sound) - Door to 3e (1d20+1=15)

Liberty's Edge

When Thel moves over to the next door and leans in close to it to listen better, the scratching seems to be the same as what you heard coming from the previous room. However, just getting close to the door there is a horrible stench of rot and decay coming from the other side that threatens to make him bring up his meal. Clearly there is something foul back there.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Looking down at his shirt, he untucks it from his waistband, and slices a piece off, a pained look on his face as the fabric tears. Wrapping the swatch of cloth around his nose and mouth, he ties it like a bandanna, getting ready to open the door.

"Something foul in this room..."

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun joins Thel at the door, and nods that he's ready to move on the foul being in the room.

Can Kolgun get another knowledge check on the type of being in the previous room based on the effect of its attack and the nature of the circle? If not, no worries. Off to work so I'll post my initiative.

Initiative (1d20+1=12)

Liberty's Edge

Kol, go ahead and give me two seperate know(religion) checks. You had a bit more time to look at the body of the creature too, so one of those will be a re-roll of the previous one.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Initiative - Room 3e (1d20+3=11)

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Prior to moving from the room Kolgun considered the magical circle and the beast's effect on Bengal. Alas, his study leaves some to be desired . . .

Know - Religion (x2) (1d20+5,1d20+5=[7, 5] 12, [3, 5] 8)

He readies himself by the door for whatever may be waiting on the other side.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

After getting up, she follows Thel, widening her eyes at what he mentions. She then draws her weapon, preparing.

Initiative: 1d20+4=12

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

i think i do not need to roll iniative because i am readying an action to go off when the door is opened, is that correct?

loren will place himself behind Thel and cast mage armour on himself and protection from evil on thel (or whoever is opening the door) if he will allow it

Liberty's Edge

I was wanting initiative from everyone, just because in this case both sides are aware of each other and basically ready for the door to be opened. Whoever is going to open the door will go first in the round(though as I noted, this door is pretty much identical to the other one, so Bengal will need to pick it) and then I will use everyone else's initiative to place them in order behind that person.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

ok no problem! iniative =13

Spoiler:
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2112808/

Liberty's Edge

So right now our initiative order is as below, though I suspect that Bengal will be bumping up to the top of the order unless someone else has a way to get the door open.
Loren
Aldrin
Bengal
Kolgun
Thel
Creature

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

if bengal is opening the door then i will put prot evil on her

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal sighs, then leans down to open the door.

IC is currently down, so I have this dice roller. Hopefully the link works.

1d20+10=26

Liberty's Edge

Loren casts his protectionary spell upon Bengal as she works at the lock on the door. It only takes her a moment again before the lock clicks and the door creaks open.

The team seems more ready this time then the last when the foul creature standing comes into view, its rotting flesh hanging loosely on its frame. The smell that wafts from it is horrible, enough to make you all gag.

I'll need fort saves from everyone. If you fail, read the spoiler below

Fort Save DC 15

Spoiler:
You are sickened for 5 minutes. You take a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

Our initiative is now going to be:
Bengal
Loren
Aldrin
Kolgun
Thel
Creature

Loren, You will be up next. I just need your attack roll for the hand of the apprentice ability. Once I have that, then I'll be able to post results for the rest of the combat as I know who passed and failed their fort saves.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

1d20+2=13

Sigh. I give up.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

im confused do you not want us to roll fortitude saves?
attack 20
damage 12

Spoiler:
attack http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2114313/

damage http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2114315/

Liberty's Edge

No, I do want you to make them. Go ahead and roll, you just only need to read the spoiler if you fail it. Those that fail will have some modifiers that I need to take into consideration though.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

As the door opens Kolgun's senses are slammed by the foul creature's noxious odor . . .

Fortitude Save (1d20+5=18)

Male Gnome Wizard-1

Telekinetic fist (1d20+3=8, 1d4=3)

Fort save (1d20+3=11)

wow, a whole lot of butt rolling right there. safe to say i didn't help this round.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Fort save (door 3e) (1d20+3=11)

Thel gags on the smell when the door opens, and nearly loses his breakfast. Unable to get the sickly odor out of his nose, he struggles on, not quite as fast in his movements as he covers his face with the crook of his elbow between attacks.

Liberty's Edge

Whether Loren failed his save or not, his attack would have connected so I am just going to continue on the round with that in mind. I'll adjust his damage once I know for sure.

With the door swung open and the horror revealed, Loren is quick on the attack, his blade swiping sharply across its chest, splitting open flesh and releasing further noxious odor into the room. The wound seems to simply anger the meat hungry beast.

Aldrin thrusts forward his attack in rapid response, but the nausea caused by the stench catches up with him before he completes it, his vomiting forcing the swing wide, the fist connecting to the door frame with a loud 'thump'.

Kolgun, you will be up next with Thel's action to follow. Its a bit of cramped quarters there so you can't all quite get in to attack, so just let me know what you are planning. As an OOC warning, this is going to be tough, especially with so many of you sick, so don't hold back.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

In the cramped quarters Kolgun unleashes his Acid Dartat the beast . . .
Attack / Acid (1d20+2,1d6+1=[15, 2], [3, 1])

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

sorry im in a hurry to post!
i failed my roll i got a total of 3!
bengal are you sure you failed? (protection from evil)

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Attack Roll - Did not calculate for cover (if any) (1d20+3-2=21, 1d20+3-2=10)

Confirm Crit on first attack (1d20+3-2=15)

Damage Rolls
Last damage roll was if crit confirmed. (1d6+1-2=2, 1d6+1-2=5, 1d6+1-2=2)

May not be able to post later today...working on-call. Will pull back, retching -- just to stay in-character :)
