Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

I totally forgot to add the +2 for being protected from evil. Thank you for reminding me Loren.

Liberty's Edge

The bolt of Acid fires out from Kolgun and splatters into the creatures chest, causing it to snarl in a fury. It looks just about to lash forward when Thel stabs around the corner, the first of his attacks slicing along the beasts shoulder. The wounds are starting to show on the undead, but it does not look in danger of faltering yet.

Growling in anger the creature surges forward into Bengal biting and clawing at her in a rage. The magics lay down over her seem to have protected her well, however, as only a small scratch is left from the creatures assault. Bengal, take 5 damage and make a fort save.

Fortitude Save DC 15

Spoiler:
You are paralyzed for 3 rounds.

We are back up to the top of the round again, so Bengal you are up. Our current order is below:
Bengal
Loren
Aldrin
Kolgun
Thel
Creature

And Bengal, you better give Loren a huge thanks for that spell he tossed on you. That would have been two hits and a crit if not for that +2 AC.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Fort save: 1d20+4=23

Bengal quickly strikes out at the creature, grateful that she was only hit once.

attack roll 23 have included being sickened (do you want me to do that?)
confirm 17
damage 21! if a crit, otherwise 10 (i have included the sickness)

Spoiler:

damage 21 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2115832/
fortitude save for earlier 3 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2114311/

Liberty's Edge

Shaking off the effects of the claw, Bengal slashes towards the creature, but it is surprisingly nimble and evades the attack easily.

The sword that seems to simply float in the air is more a challenge however, but even still it draws away slightly so the wound isn't so dire as it could have been.

The undead beast now looks as if it is in pretty bad shape but it is still solid on its feat.

Aldrin is up next, followed by Kol and Thel.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Gagging, Thel will give the undead creature two quick jabs.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

I will delay my move until after the beast

Due to the crampted quarters Kolgun will leave the hand to hand combat to those better suited. But he does not under-estimate the beast's danger, and thus calls upon his faith to help heal injuries it causes . . .

Channel Positive Energy 30' rad: (1d6=1)

Bah!

Liberty's Edge

I just got word from Aldrin that he is out of town for the weekend and isn't able to log into the boards, but he is going to hit it with his telekinetic fist again, so I rolled for him.

The gnome readies another blow at the undead creature, sending out the fist of force and this time striking it in its chest though it is a glancing blow. Likewise, weakened from his vomiting, Thel manages to hit the creature but does a small amount of damage. It finally is looking as if it is going to fall at any moment, still it has the strength to lash out at bengal once more. In its wounded fury it manages to bite at her and catch her with its claw.

Bengal, you take 10 damage over two hits. I also need you to make two DC 15 fort saves and if you fail view the spoiler in the above post. Also, make a third DC 15 fort save and just tell me the result.

Seeing his comrades wounded and the creature still standing, Kolgun lets out a burst of positive energy, healing all his allies for 1 point and doing minor damage to the creature.

Its looking really bad now, so I'm not as worried about this fight as I was earlier. With Kol dropping to the bottom of the round, our initiative looks like this:
Bengal
Loren
Aldrin
Thel
Creature
Kolgun

Bengal is up next, followed by Loren.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

on lorens turn
two options
1.If Bengal is still standing and ok to fight, loren will attack with his HOA and then move 15ft westwards,
HOA attack is 15 (i assume that misses)

2.if bengal is paraylized or goes down then he will drag her away moving 15ft westwards

Spoiler:
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2120278/

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

With the other blows, Bengal then crumples down to the ground, bleeding from the wounds she has received.

Fort save: 1d20+2=16

Yay dying. >_<

Liberty's Edge

Ok, so Bengal drops from the ghouls attacks just before the channel energy went off, I hadn't realized she still had the damage on her from the last fight. Kol, if that would have changed your action you can repost, but I am going to assume that you went forward with that since you were planning on using that to heal as well anyway. However, since your channel went off after the attack, Bengal isn't actually dying she is stabalized. Its just lousy luck that the roll was a 1 because she is at -1 right now.

The attacks from the ghoul are too much for the poor tibbet as she drops to the ground, but seeing the hunger for flesh in the creatures eyes the elf is there just behind her, grabbing her body and pulling her back away from its hungry jaws.

Aldrin, you are up next followed by Thel.

Male Gnome Wizard-1

Aldrin will curse under his breath, saying something about cat's and now only having 8 lives left, and will jam a cure light wounds potion down her throat.

Cure Light Wounds Potion (1d8+1=3)

wow, a whole 3 hp huh? oh well, least your conscious. Wouldn't want you missing a turn or something.

Liberty's Edge

I haven't heard from Thel in a few days, so I'm going to just post for him at the moment to keep things moving. He probably just got busy. With the creature still right there and Bengal getting a potion so she is alright, I figure he would just get a full attack in.

Stepping in just a bit closer to the disgusting creature and clearly not pleased to be doing so, Thel gets away from the wall that was offering the creature a hint of cover.

He slashes out with his blade but the creature sidesteps it easily. However, it is clearly un-prepared for the offhanded dagger coming its way, and Thel forces it cleanly into the beasts skull, leaving it rocking for just a moment before it collapses in a disgusting heap.

This door, like the other, moves to swing closed when the beast falls.

Wow, I can apparently roll for Thel. 19 on the die to hit, 19 to back and 1 short of max damage. We can drop out of combat speed now, so feel free to post at your own pace again.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

After the wretched beast falls Kolgun steps to keep the door from swinging shut.

Reflex (1d20+1=14)

Once the door is secured he'll look to the aid of Bengal, laying a hand on her shoulder and calling on his faith . . .

Cure Light Wounds (1d8+1=5)

Liberty's Edge

For the fight with this creature and the last one, you each will have earned another 400xp as well.

Edit: I just realized I didn't give XP out for the fight with the 3 goblins and the hobgoblin when you re-entered the complex. Just to make sure that everyone is on the same page, your current total is 1010xp. I had wanted to see just how quickly you were leveling before I decided which progression track I wanted to put you on, and I think I've got a pretty good idea now. If we were on the fast track, you would almost be leveled already and there is a lot of first floor left to go, but I do expect you to level up at least a good ways before we are finished, so I am going to go with the medium progression. This means to hit the next level you need 2000xp.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She hugs Kolgun, then sits down on the floor for a moment, still badly beaten from the creature, "Well, I think we should call it a day, yes? I don't know if I will be able to handle another battle."

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

how much exp do i have? can i have the same as the others? (assuming that i have earned a bit before we met)
as another comment i really do like a 1st level pathfinder wizard, back in 1st or 2nd ed i would have had one spell and be ready rest a while back, in pathfinder i have 4 spells at first level, and HOA and unlimted 0 level spells

i agree with bengal, i have used most of my spells for the day, but if the rest of you wish to continue for a while i am happy do do so

Liberty's Edge

For ease, I was just going to keep you at the same XP level as everyone. Its much more simple if everyone just levels at the same time. And I agree about the wizards having the ability to last a lot longer now. Both from you and from the wizard I am playing in a different game, I am noticing that hand of the apprentice seems like it can almost be too powerful, so I hope that it gets slightly better balanced in the final, but beyond that, having various powers that you can use in addition to your spells keeps you going.

Male Gnome Wizard-1

"Well, I'm still at full capacity since all my spells affect the living, and we've fought nothing but the dead. I'm ready to keep going, but I understand if the rest of you need to rest. I wouldn't mind the opportunity to better prepare myself with a spell that will be useful against the undead."

Not sure if anyone has the heal skill. The ability to double natural healing rate really comes in handy in saving heal spells. My ranger in the game Tarlane runs for me on sunday's uses it all the time, it's really been handy. Just thought i'd throw that out there, since the DC isn't that high.

Liberty's Edge

Its been almost a week since I have heard from Thel. If you guys want to continue moving the story forward for the moment on your own, we can press on with him as an NPC. He's been a good player though, so hopefully I will hear from him soon so he can jump back in. If I haven't heard from him in a while longer I'll start checking for a replacement character.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Sincerest apologies. Work went all insane, one of the guys broke his hand, so I got all of my own calls to run, as well as his. Should get better Saturday night/Sunday. :) Have the week off.

Was going to go for the Heal skill at level 2.

As far as delving vs. resting, I'm good to go for more exploring.

Liberty's Edge

No worries at all, Thel. I know stuff pops up, it just had been long enough that I was starting to worry we had lost you. Take care of what you need to, and as long as I know you are going to be back when things settle down, I don't mind NPCing you as need be until then.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Having Sun-Fri off, I can do way more posting--and more involved posts :) Don't know what things will look like after that though--appears that the guy with the broken hand may be out of commission for awhile. If you have to NPC me, that's fine...pretty sure my sheet has all the info needed--will double check it before the week is over. Can't really post from work to let you know what my day is shaping up to be...but if I'm at work, and all of a sudden a fight breaks out, I don't mind you taking over my character until I can post.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Helping the dwarf hold the door open, Thel grunts out his feelings on the current delve. [b]"I say...*urgh*...we keep looking around. Last time...*oomph*..we left...*groan*...more of those goblins...were waiting for us..."[/b

Thel looks around, for anything to wedge the door open.

Perception, anything to wedge the door open (1d20+2=22)

Finding anything, Thel will use it to keep the door open.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun reaches into his pack and hands Thel a spike. "See if you can wedge this in to hold the door, or just place it to keep from closing."

He then approaches Bengal, closes his eyes and a wave of healing passes through him . . . .

Channel Energy (1d6+1=6)

"If you can stay on your feet a bit longer, I'll take your position at the front."

Liberty's Edge

No worries, Thel. I'm enjoying your posting and your character. I'm aware things get hectic sometimes, so knowing that you could disapear from time to time for short spurts coming up here we will just keep the story flowing.

It actually looks like the best thing to prop the door open with would be the body of the creature itself, though looking past it the room inside doesn't seem much different then the previous one. It is empty aside from the body and a thick layer of dust on the floor, an intricate symbol inlaid in the stone barely showing through.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel kicks the corpse into the doorway, and goes into the room, taking 20 to search the room for anything of note (20+2=22 Perception), careful to avoid the inlaid floor.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

i think it would be wise to behead anyone or anything we kill down here, it may seem a bit paraonoid but if there is someone raising dead down here then we do not want to give them more bodies,
thel? will you do this?

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She smiles, "If everyone else wishes to continue on, then I shall be fine. I am still a bit hit, but I will use one of my potions so I do not burn you out Kolgun. Thank you."

1d8+1=4

Ok, that brings me to 14, so I will be fine.

Liberty's Edge

Looking through the room, Thel you don't find anything else unusual beyond the inlaid floor. The pattern on this one seems slightly different then the one in the previous room, but the design is still very similar and still holds the signs of the moon goddess in it.

Beyond that, the only thing strange about the room is its complete lack of everything. No secret doors, no furniture, no decorations of any kind. On the inside there is not a door handle, just like the outside, so whatever creature is in here would have no way out until the door was opened.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Using his rapier, Thel slices off the head of the creature, hoping that it won't resurrect. Noting the inlaid tile pattern, he then goes back to the pool of water, looking at the doors to the east, wondering what lies beyond them...

Leaning against the door, Thel places his ear against the door, to hear if anything is on the other side.
Perception (Listen) (1d20+2=6)

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun joins Thel next to the door, his hammer at his side. A light of curiosity burns in his eyes.

Liberty's Edge

Listening against the bronze doors, you don't hear anything coming from within. The doors do appear to be locked, however.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel signals for Bengal to come over and work her magic on the locks.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal heads over to the door, hoping that there aren't anymore of those creatures from before behind it as she bends down to pick the lock.

Disable device: 1d20+10=18

Liberty's Edge

The double door opens easily at Bengal's skilled touch, though it was obviously never well locked. Inside appears to be what was once a library, though it likely cannot be called that anymore. The shelves are broken down and books are strewn about the floor in piles. The dampness of the dungeon has caused many of them to mold and rot to the point of being ruined.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel steps into the moldering library, nearly losing his balance on a book which has turned to mush. The smell of mildew and rot hangs thick in the air, and after the near-miss with the undead creature, Thel nearly loses his morning meal once again.

Seeing that there may be some signs of salvageable reading material, Thel searches through the books...

Perception check (sight) in the library. (1d20+3=23) Go Natural 20!!

Edit: That first one was so blah, I had to rewrite it :)

Liberty's Edge

Looking around the library is going to be a search check. Each time you will have a chance of finding more books that are still mostly intact. You can do a total of five searches among you, before its pretty clear that there is nothing usable left, so if you are willing to spend some time here you can have your best searcher do it five times. Otherwise, you can split it up and be done with the room quickly.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

bump...edited post above

Liberty's Edge

Beginning to dig through the books, Thel manages to scrounge up six different tomes that have escaped any real damage. All but one are somewhat mundane, discussing varied topics such as philosophy and history, though they are somewhat outdated now. They could be of some small value to a collector perhaps.

The final one however is different. It seems to speak of the goddess Glarias and something known as "Glarias' pool", and though it is written primarily in a common tongue, it has a mixture of magical formulae spread throughout it.

To pick out the books most important information, you'll need to spend at least an hour or so studying it. If you wish to try and find more things in the room, you can search up to 4 more times.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

Loren's eyes light up when he sees the books (especially the last one!)
Thel let me have a look at the books please
perhaps we should stay in this library for a while and see what we can find

perhaps bengal should search the library as she is the most perceptive? and light fingered!

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel passes the book over to the elf, and seeing nothing of any value, lingers outside near the pool of water, idly throwing bits of stone into the water.

Liberty's Edge

Apparently Bengal has had some things come up where she hasn't been able to get on recently and may be away for a bit longer, so I'm going to post for her for the time being to keep things afloat.

The tibbet searches around the room much more thoroughly, finding another 14 books that seem to be in good condition, much like the bulk of the books that Thel found, these don't seem to hold any special properties except for likely having some small monetary value. By the time she has come up with those, the room seems pretty thoroughly searched, everything else seems to be ruined or rotted.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

what kind of magic formulae does the book have?

Liberty's Edge

If you are going to take an hour to study the book:

Spoiler:
The book speaks of a pool of water which is sacred to the moon goddess Glarias. This pool can apparently be used to contact the goddess, and the magical formulae give the phrases needed in order to activate the effect. However, the book also warns not to abuse the powers of the goddess, to call on her more often then she waxes and wanes will invite her retribution.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

loren is happy to spend an hour reading the book! but if we are going to do that we might as well rest
loren will explain what information the book holds, so feel free to read the prevoius spoiler for loren

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

"What happens when we contact her? And where's this pool?"

Liberty's Edge

The book doesn't seem too specific on either of those points, the pool is simply described as a pool of water that is sacred to her and the contact is just said to be speaking with the goddess.

Liberty's Edge

Am I starting to lose you guys?

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

not in the slightest!

shall we move on? at least we will know what to do if we find a pool!
