I am looking to trying to run one of the Pathfinder modules, Into the Haunted Forest. This will be my first time, and I hope that doesn't scare anyone away.

Since this is my first time, I'm planning on having it straight 3.5, with 25 point buy system. I am looking to have four players, who will have already been acquainted with each other in this module. How you all know each other I will leave up to you.

The module is set for first level characters, so you will be starting with the starting equipment. I would prefer if you stick with core classes, but I have other 3.5 books, so if there is a class you want to play not in the core book, run it by me and I will see if I have it.

If there's any more information you need and feel I've left out, feel free to ask. If this all goes well, we can keep going with this.

I'm interested although I have to state I have this adventure and am interested in seeing how its played since its one I fancy running at a later stage though more likely not online.

Are there any restrictions other than the point buy you want to impose such as how do you stand on traits such as those from Second Darkness and by that I means basic traits and those released in Elves of Golarion?

You can take the feat in the second darkness book to get two traits if you want, but I don't think I shall have them added on. And I don't have the Elves of Golarion book, but if you decide you want traits, just let me know what ones you want from there and I will see if they will be ok.

Also, I forgot to mention, I would be willing to go Pathfinder with the 20 point buy system if others would prefer doing that, I am just not too familiar with it, though I have been playing it for a bit.

Also, sorry for being confusing about this. I am nervous and impatient. Heh.

Please count me in. I'd like to use a human fighter from Absalom, Sol Drago.

Hooray! Wonderful.

Thank you :)

I have this character which was prepared for a legacy of fire game but didn't get picked to play, would this be okay?

The only thing I would ask of you to take out is the trait. There is a feat in the second darkness players guide which if you take it, you can have two feats, and I've decided if a player wants traits, they can take that feat and get two traits. But everything else looks great.

So if you haven't already, Sol you can make your character Pathfinder if that's not too much trouble. I apologize in advance if I make any mistakes as we go along, but I would prefer to go with Pathfinder anyways.

Pathfinder it is then.

Onyx, just a couple of questions: how often are you planning on posting and when do you plan on starting?
I'm trying to decide if I have time to play...would love to, but don't want to hold up a game if posting is too frequent for me.
Thanks.

I hope to start once I get enough people and they decide how they know each other, so maybe this weekend if I get enough people.

About how often I can post, well that depends. I am currently on spring break from school for this week, so I can post often at night, though I will have my three year old for the rest of the week so that limits time as well. Once school starts, I can maybe post at nights a couple times a week.

Have amended it accordingly.

Looks great, thanks! So far I have two for sure, three if hopeless decides to give it a go. So I just need one more.

A couple of times a week at night/early morning works great for me. I'm on Spring Break this week too (I work in a middle school). I'm just learning the Pathfinder system but can churn out a character for you by Friday at the latest.
Probably a human fighter type - will that work?

That should be fine, looks like you guys are looking out to be a bruiser team since Sol is a fighter and Nils is a ranger. So I just need to hear back from hopeless and see if he is interested. And Friday would be great.

Well then, maybe we need a cleric or a rogue. I'll defer the "bruising" to the others and come up with something else. :)

Nils is Hopeless sorry I didn't realise you hadn't noticed.

Oh! Haha, boy I sure am red right now. Sorry about that!

Ok, so there is three currently for sure, so one more and we are good to go.

Ooh that is hard. Bard, Cleric or, Druid. I've never had a good time with clerics in 3.5 and I kind of want to see if Pathfinder has fixed them for me. Look for a Half-Orc Cleric of Shelyn sometime this evening.

Timing works out great for me as well.

Sounds good! Though a half-orc cleric of Shelyn amuses me.

So is that four people then? I don't want to make a mistake again by confusing everyone. >_<

So...we have a human fighter, a half-orc cleric, a ranger(?)...is that right? I'll either play a druid or a rogue. Okay, maybe a sorcerer...but I doubt it. :)

And it's Pathfinder, 20 point buy...right?

Yup, that's right.

Okay, I need help - I'm trying to create an alias (my first) and add my new character...but I'm getting almost nowhere. Somebody help a Pathfinder/Paizo newbie!!!

See at the top the list of options you have next to Welcome, your name! Click on My Account. There, scroll down until you are at the box which says "Messageboard Aliases." Inside there should be an option, "Create new messageboard alias."

I created the alias successfully, but where do I add my character's information? I've been trying to figure this out for about 15 minutes. I'm such a...loser.

It's ok! I was totally lost the first time too. I still get lost every now and then. Go ahead and do what I told you again, going to where the messageboard aliases box is. It should then show the alias you've made. Click it, and it should go to the profile of your alias. There, you should be able to find an option "edit my profile"

Thanks Onyx - I just did exactly that! D'oh! Well, first time for everything! LOL! Here is my character avatar and alias.

Ok. :)

And don't be scared to ask anything else. I will try my best to help out.

This full?

Yes, looks like I have four people currently. You are more than welcome to join if any of the others are unable to though.

No prob, I'll check back occasionally to see if you need an extra...have fun!

Discussion thread

Ok, now that there are four people, here is the discussion thread for the pbp.

Sadly, one of my players had to drop out, so I am looking for another. Just to clarify things up because I got a little conflicting with my decisions, this is going to be Pathfinder rules, 20 point buy system, with max starting gold.

You can take a look at the discussion thread I posted above to take a look at the players who have already made their characters.

Also, if I have not heard from Dorje in either this thread of the discussion thread by tomorrow morning, I will be looking for another player as well.

I've been wanting to look into this Pathfinder setting for some time now. I'll have to look over the Pathfinder rules a little before jumping in, but I should be able to post at least once a day. How soon do you need a character ready to go?

As soon as possible. I was hoping to get things started tomorrow night, but I can wait until Wednesday if need be.

I should be able to get the stats and a basic background together by tomorrow. Campaign-specific details will have to wait while I familiarize myself with the setting a little better, unless you want to fill them in for me. In fact, I'll trust you to place him into the game world with the actual specifics as we go to get things moving along. I'll submit an idea on the discussion thread soon.

Ok, I have not heard from Dorje in a week now, so I will now be looking for a fourth player.

Scarab Sages

I have a 1st level Gnome Wizard from a game that failed to launch. I would be overjoyed to use him if you have the space. I can double check to see how he was generated and retool him to fit with the 20point buy.

Here I am!! Choose me! Choose me!

Wouldn't mind getting in on your game Onyx. What class is the party missing?

EDIT: Looks like you need a cleric. I can arrange that. Might not be a half-orc, but I'll find something tasty. How about a female cleric of Calistria?

EDIT2: Whoops...sorry Onyx. Thought you were going with Pathfinder for some reason...withdrawing interest (for now).

I think I had been asked to be in, over on the discussion board, but since you haven't quite popped me in yet and it looks like you have quite a bit of interest now(and I've got my hands in a bunch of spots with no need to be too greedy), I don't mind if you want to grab one of the other players and get them in place instead.

I'll certainly be watching the thread in interest anyway and following the story, so if you do end up needing someone let me know.

Our current lineup is:
Half-elven ranger
Halfling rogue
Dwarven cleric

We like humans (I guess); we just haven't had any apply. (grin)

You are more than welcome to join Gavgoyle, since it looks like Tarlane has offered up his spot for you. Looking over your character, it looks great to me. I can tie you in fairly easy, I was going to have my merchant deliver something to Tarlane's character, and I can just have them do that for you instead. So consider yourself already in the Inn.

And sorry I seem a bit confusing Thomas, I actually am doing Pathfinder, so if you would like to be an alternate in case someone decides to drop, I would love to have you. I enjoy playing in your game and playing with you in Tarlane's play by post.

Oh...okay...initial post there you said you were going strictly 3.5. As I see there's a cleric, maybe I'll go with a sorcerer.

Thinking about it, I would not mind having five players, so you are welcome to join. A sorc would be good, you can see that hedge posted what they are playing currently, and there will be a wizard added to that. You can also be in the Inn.

Sorcerer with either Undead or Abyssal bloodline. Should have him ready by tonight.

Sounds good!

Have to fill in some details.. :) I have it all on a scrap piece of paper.

EDIT: Have a few things to detail, but overall ready for play.

My current group is out a cleric, so if anyone is interested in joining, it would be greatly appreciated.
