Besides, why did DnD give up on the comliness score?

Perhaps because (thank God) there was never one other than obscure optional rules or homerules. =P

IMHO, not letting the player chose what his character looks like is as awful as forcing him to roll 8d30 to obtain his character's name.

err Dogbert... I know neither you or me have 1st edition rule books... but they had commelines as true stat :S

Comeliness, it was an "optional" stat out of 1E Unearthed Arcana if I remember correctly, for representing physical beauty only.

I don't know about a feat or a class, but the 2nd level spell "WHIRLING BLADE" allows the substitution of INT or CHA when determining the melee attacks from the spell.

Pretty much like Hand of the Apprentice.. but you said it, a spell (or supernatural ability), I'm not sure I'd make it into a Feat for all the reasons I mentioned before.

Oh no, I wasn't advocating it be a feat or anything else. Just pointing out the one instance that I knew of where CHA is substituted for STR on attack(To Hit) rolls.

In the link I posted at the top of the thread, it mentions Slippers of Battledancing (from DMG 2), the feat Snowflake Wardance (from Frostburn), various Smite abilities, and the spell Thunder Lance.

Ewww! Having the GM's love interest in the table is always a bad thing! Don't you know that?
Dude, I'm so totally going to have to disagree. Me and my GF met at a D&D gaming session and we share alot in common. We love gaming together and we've got 3 other couples who game with us.
Met my husband of 22, going on 23 years, in college. D&D brought us together :) When it works, it works!

My wife and I game together, usually one of us runs our home game, and we have been together for 8 years now. We met through a friend of ours, while I worked for GW, at of all things a Vampire LARP. Heck even our son gets to play once in awhile, and nothing made me prouder than when he rolled and confirmed his first critical with a bastard sword.

My only issue with our set up is that we both have been accused of favoring the other even though we are the only ones whom tend to grab main plot hooks of an adventure more often than not even when there were written for other players. lately though our normal gaming group has seen to it that neither of us like doing all the leg work and are stepping up to the plate. (I guess going to GenCon help them all out.)

Just as an aside- You can be very beautiful without a high charisma. Charisma is more about likability than it is about having a perfect body/face. Personality, attitude, mannerisms all make up charisma.

I've dated a bunch of women that were really hot but just damn painful to be around when they spoke.

Or Jane Fonda?

Inserting Jane Fonda in Rachel Ray is just wrong
