Oh yes, by the way have you noted where Jonas started and where he is now?

Constructs are immune to critical hits mind you it was 1 off of doing just that!
Herve leaps forward and almost succeeds in decapitating the broom had it possessed a head however it manages to loop clear before you manage to reduce it to twindling...
Its reply to your attack is quite pathetic leading you to believe your blow has seriously hurt it...
You can make your next attack now if you want since the other fight has kept Tenna's attention focused

Bogorin Rockstomper wrote:
Just curious but how is Leafy, as a second level character, getting 2 attacks per round? And what's the +1d6? Has the blade got some extra damage to it? If so, Sweet!

Attack of opportunity must admit I might have messed up with the second round one as the goblin should have a higher AC but it'll stand for a rather amusing reason!

Initiative Order#1:
Leafy 23
Tenna 15
Dale 15
Goblin Jailor 13
Guards#1 11
Guard#2 11
Guard#3 11
Willy 7
Bogorin 6

Initiative Order#2:
Herve 11
Broom 8

The goblin jailor stares back at Bogorin his fear slowly abating as the dwarf tries desperately to grab him is foiled as he keeps to the back of the cell.
The last remaining guard's reluctance infuriates him as he points at the dwarf and yells.
"Attack him you idiot!" he sneers.
His air of fury is however abated as the point of a longsword comes into his view.
Stunned he turns to look as the last thing he sees is a seriously angry bar wench with a sword...

I assume you have no problems with Dale picking up the slain guard's sword and getting a little payback? Oh and unless I'm mistaken Bogorin has an action before it returns to Leafy

Not in the slightest! That was purely Poetically Perfect Hopeless =D. And while I'd love another go, I do believe Boggo has already had his this round. He swung at the Goblin but missed.

"THAT"S ME GIRL!" Bogorin roars in triumph as his dear Dale ends the miserable Goblin scum's life "I always knew ye had stout Dwarven heart in ye!" Realizing though that the battle is not yet quite over though, Bogorin turns to meet the last remaining guard. A look of cold death is in the old Dwarf's eye.

"Look, that alarm out there means the usual means out of here is pretty much a death trap, but I do know another way out if you don't mind not killing me and letting me not die so I can run the opposite direction to that camp out there?" the guard gulps looking at the gathered adventurers.

His glare not changing one whit, Bogorin simply continues to stare at the man for some time, the only sound emanating from him the meaty thump of his hammer thunking into his think palm, over and over again. Finally,
the old dwarf calls out "Tenna! Kin ye see tae the lad! Is he still breathin'? Kin ye help 'im?"

Then, extending his hand palm up, he speaks one brusque word to the guard "Keys!"

(Assuming the guard has them or gives them to him)
Taking the keys Boggo throws them over his shoulder to Dale, never removing his gaze from the guard "There ye go lass, free yerself and stand behind me." although all he wants to is hug his dear Dale and make sure she is alright, his renewed warrior spirit knows such things are best left for when the danger is well and truly past.

(Regardless of what happens with the keys)
"Death trap? What mean ye dog? Explain yerself and be quick about it! 'N funny it is that ye mention yon camp too as we was wantin' tae ask someone more about it, nice of yeh tae volunteer." he says with no humor or kindness whatsoever in his voice.

As the Dwarf threatens the remaining Guard, Leambo goes to work unlocking the cell doors with his "special tools".

Disable device, you use perception to detect traps so with that roll you can't see any

"Uh he has them... there in his belt pouch," the guard turns to point at the goblin jailor and then gestures towards the goblin's midriff as Dale reaches over for the goblin's belt pouch.

"Mind I don't know what other stuff he's packing, I don't know what that stone he threw on the ground was for but you've seen him use that wand," he adds looking back at Bogorin.

"He set it up after we, I mean me was first posted here. We were told if it was set off the corridor leading to the ladder up to the ogre's lair was warded with some sort of lightning trap. I don't know how to shut it off but I do know there's another way out just down near the boss's quarters," he explains.

By the way since you've found the villagers you've gained a 1000xp bonus and the xp has been updated so Herve, Tenna and Bogorin have gone up a level by my count, Willy and Leafy are just short by about a 100 xp from doing the same. Now I'll finish up with Herve so when you're ready I'll need another fortitude save from Willy and if you have any ranks in the Heal skill you can help him

Calling over his shoulder, his eyes still on the guard, Boggo says "Dale, ye all right there lass? Can ye free yerself?" then, looking back at the guard Bogorin continues "n' who's this Boss o yers? We'll be needin' tae hear more about him. All a 'bout him. Oh, and meanwhile, ye kin drop all yer weapons n' kick them over tae the girl with the bow there. Then remove All yer clothes 'scept fer yer skivies as thar's ladies present."

The look in the old Dwarf's eye makes it clear he expects immediate obedience and is on no mood for any objections or back talk.

Please feel free to pitch in anyone. Don't wanna seem like Boggo's trying to hog the limelight, he's just in the right position at the moment. Oh hey and Leafy, while the guard's getting undressed, maybe you want to go over to your stuff and dress and reclaim it all? Just a suggestion. Also Hopeless, what's the other prisoner doing and what's he look like etc.? Finally can Tenna and Boggo level now?

"Good on you, Dale!" Tenna grimly cheered.

She had kept her aim and her eyes on the last remaining guard as he tried to parlay. She didn't trust him one bit, and was tempted to put an arrow in his knee out of spite for what he and his friends did to Willy.

It wasn't until Bogo yelled for her to check on the lumberjack that she snapped out of it.

"Y-yeah!" She kept her eyes on the guard as she crouched over Willy and fished the healing packets out of her pouch again. "W-wait. Is it safe to use 'em again so soon!"

I guess the heal check will depend on whether we can level right this moment or not. I should have taken Heal a long time ago. :)

"Okay," the guard gulps as he carefully moves aside of the halfling and the dwarf before carefully stripping his weapons and armour.

The gnome merchant who you remember was named Jonas has finally managed to squeeze threw the bars of the last cage and is currently frantically dearching through the gear at the far end of the prison and is stuffing things into bags. You remember him to be almost as bad as the rogues running the lumber consortium, its quite possible that some of the stuff in the pile is his, but you can be sure he'll claim as much of the rest as he can get away with as possible!

And yes you can level up now, Herve only has to survive his battle before he can too

"Here you better use this," the guard stops undressing to pass over his belt pouch.

"There's three vials in there, the blue is light healing, the green a stronger version and the red is to counter some kind of draining effect don't ask me from what but there was a case of them in the lab behind you, that poor soul the boss enslaved to make his summoning circle bought them so they should work fine," he notes drily before returning to undressing once he either passes the belt pouch or leave it on the ground at Tenna's feet.

"Er where exactly did you get that set of bracers?" he asks gingerly.
"Its just that only the officers' are supposed to have them and none of them were stationed in here," he explains as he finally manages to start removing his scale mail.

Feeling stronger, more skilled and more capable and alert than he has in years, the formerly alcoholic Dwarf's old heart swells with the pride of accomplishment. He'd set out to rescue his Dale and he'd done it! Not alone of course, no, no. Nowhere near. And they weren't home free just yet mind, but still...he did feel GOOD. And so many things he'd thought we're long lost to the drink were coming back to him! 'Aye old man, tis good what ye've done, but don't let yerself git ahead o yerself, there's still work tae be done here' the crusty veteran of many battles reminds himself.

Moving to place his thick form between the guard and the exit, Boggo keeps a close eye on the man as he comes near Tenna. When the guard appears to truly have surrendered and proceeds to finish undressing, the old Dwarf nods once grimly.

Sparing a glance towards Dale to see how she's doing with the lock Bogo shouts "How are ye doin' lass? Git yerself free already and come give yer ole Boggo a hug!"

His new position alloying him to see the avaricious Gnome frantically going though all the gear Bogorin scowls and shouts angrily "'N ye better stop that right now Jonas ye greedy little goblin ye! If ye think I'm tae be lettin' the likes o you out o' here without first goin' through every one o yer pockets first yer daft! You try and leave here with one penny more'n ye came with n' I'll hold ye up by yer ankles and shake ye till yer brains fall out if I have tae!"

Then, watching the girl...Tenna, tend to Willy, and seeing her hesitate, he gently gives her some tips while he whispers "I think it's ok tae give the lad the potion lass, that Gaurd wouldnae risk 'is life by givin' us something bad likes. Tae my thinkin' anyway."

Suddenly though as he's speaking a look of awe comes over the old Dwarf's face. Seeming to be acting not entirely of his own volition, Bogorin lowers to one knee beside Willy and closes his eyes as he places his hand on Willy's chest. Suddenly a warm golden burst of energy flows though everyone in the room, healing (1d6=4) some of their wounds and restoring some of their energy.

His eyes remaining closed for a moment more, tears begin to flow down the old weathered cheeks as Tenna (and perhaps Willy) can hear Bogorin whisper "...she's forgiven me...she's forgiven me..."

Hope you don't mind Boggo's stepping in on Tenna's healing check there Val! That was just too good an RP chance to pass up though... And sorry for such a long post all! It just kinda came out : P

Willy sits up a dazed look on his face and looks around.

"What happen?" he asks Teena.

Seeing that the battle is over and the last remaining guard stripping down out of his armor, Leambo decided it was time to go get dressed and get the rest of his gear together and squared away. As he approached the pile of gear he noticed the Gnome named Jonas putting things in bags and getting his own gear. "I hope that none of the things you are putting in those bags is mine, Jonas, or there will be problems. I apologize for not getting you out sooner but I was a bit preoccupied trying to get rid of our jailor.", he said,"By the way, is this weapon yours?", as he handed the Scimitar to the Gnome.

The gnome merchant gapes as he stares back.

Noticing Bogorin's glare he blanches as he obviously thinks twice over what he was going to say.
"N-no those aren't mine," he babbles a little as he drags the bags he's filled off to one side letting Leafy search through the rest for his own equipment.

No problem, the broom missed as well so it'll be back to you unless one of the others interferes before that can happen

Dale having managed to grab the keys off of the goblin unlocks her cell and is slowly scooting her way around the back.
The gnome merchant delays her as he is trying to make a note of what he has stored in his bags but she manages to get past him and pauses only long enough to grab some clothing from what remains in the pile to cover her torn clothing before moving towards Bogorin.

"Have you seen that other dwarf on your way in here?" she asks looking a mite better since the fight ended.
"I think he under a spell or something because they led him around literally by the nose and the last time he was resting in here he looked like he'd been exposed to something nasty!" she explains shifting her belt with its newly acquired scabbarded longsword.

Looking somewhat confused Bogorin answers "Hmm, I think I knows the Dwarf yer talkin' about...don't right now what happened tae him actually..." as he pauses for a moment wondering where that Dwarf, and that uppity lordling for that matter, have got to. Shaking his big hairy head though he roars "But enough o' that girl! Come give yer Ole Boggo a HUG!" and with a wide grin bursting through his significant beard the old dwarf picks up the girl he had come so far and fought so hard to rescue, not caring who sees his genuine love and affection for her. He couldn't love her more if she was his own daughter.

Sorry about this having problems posting!

Dale returns the hug.

Bogorin only:

Spoiler:
"I think we're all in big trouble, Tordred the dwarf I was telling you about was babbling about some secret weapon the Chels were searching for and it sounds like they exposed him to something whatever it was that goblin found it real funny and even the Chels found it offputting," she whispers to him.
"We need to get out of here as soon as possible before whoever's leading them gets wind you've found us," she adds with regret in her tone.

Leafy:

Spoiler:
A dwarf named Tordred was also held here, he was a silversmith by trade and had some training as a carpenter but whatever they wanted him for he was looking very ill as if he'd been exposed to some disease which the goblin jailor found funny but even the Chelish guards found distasteful. He also appeared to have been charmed which is why you kept quiet around him

"We need to get out of here, before too long there's going to be reinforcements coming let alone what else is down here!" Jonas grumbles as he moves towards the exit of the prison chamber pausing by Willy not trusting to get any closer to the Chelish captive.

As soon as Leambo heard that more guards would be coming, he finished getting put back together as quickly as he could. "I believe I know of another way out of here. I would introduce myself, but I think that would be best saved until after we are out of here.", he said to the assembled,"Shall we depart?"

I'd say so too! will update your xp total shortly but you still went up a level so let me know if you want to shift to a PC class otherwise i'll assume you want to continue as an Aristocrat

Herve finally manages to catch the already shaky animated broom with a blow that sends it backwards where after a few moments of shredding itself apart it eventually stops moving.
The sounds of battle from the prison cells has also ended as you take stock of whats around you.

What do you want to do know?

As Jonas moves to the exit, Bogorin slams his big meaty hand into the Gnome's chest, not hard enough to cause him any permanent harm but perhaps enough to wind him a little and he growls "Did ye think I was joking ye sticky fingered little Goblin ye!" he holds out his hand in the universal 'Give me!' motion "I'll be taking that little bag o yers and ye'll be putting Everything from yer pockets in it. NOW. Ye have me honor as a Dwarf that every scrap that is truly yers shall be returned to ye, but not a penny more. I don't see as ye've earned any part o OUR treasure when it was all o Us who was doin the bleedin', n killin' n rescuein'. If ye have any problems with it I'll tie ye up meself and leave back in yer cage fer whoever's comin back. Ye Ken?"

We can continue to RP this if you like Hopeless but basically there is simply no way Bogorin is going to let Jonas walk out of there with anything he can't prove was already his. And he Will follow up on any of his threats. He never liked that sneaky Gnome much anyway. ;-)

Not really relishing the Leadership role he seemed to have assumed but willing to take it for now, at least until Dale was safe back at home, Bogorin turns the guard and says "Well boy, looks like you'll be coming with us then. I'm sure the town council will have some questions fer ye regarding this 'secret weapon' o yer bosses." To his friends he says "Willy, Tenna, kin he secure this one and keep an eye on 'im? I'll keep one o mi own on our good friend Jonas here. And let's pick up whatever loot these guards had on 'em here that Jonas here ain't already tried tae claim fer hisself. N' what the bloody hell happened to that bloody young fop Herve as he was callin 'issself? Seemed he dinnae have the stomach fer fightin' after all, eh?"

Finally, his Dwarvish mind never one to forget an unclaimed coin, he says to small one who called himself Leafy "If'n ye kin find a way out o' here son, that's all well n' good, we'll follow ye, but as long as it leads tae the upper levels as we've left some...new belongings o ours up up there ye might say."

Unless anyone disagrees, Boggo plans to quickly finish looting the dead Goblin and guards then head back up to the caves and pick up the rest of the treasure they left behind. If there's to be a battle soon, he knows they and the town will need it. And there's no good leaving it for the enemy to reclaim again. By the way Hopeless, had we seen anything of value in the lab we passed through? Oh! And hey, didn't we have Old Cooper (the one armed guy) with us again?? Where did he get off to?

And sorry Hopeless, but I must be getting old like Boggo becaause I honestly cannot remember: did I level him already? Or should he now be a Warrior1/Fighter1/Cleric3?

No problem just showing even he's on edge too, not enough to push his luck that far...

Okay the guards were wearing scale mail and were using standard weapons meaning there's now two longswords, two shortswords, a crossbow and four daggers, Dale has one of the longswords' the pile seem to consist of about a dozen sets of clothing, four complete backpacks with assorted equipment (see avatar for standard stuff in backpack), the goblin had the wand and three gems of various types similar to the ones he threw on the ground during the fight. Each guard is carrying three vials so each had at least 1 of those the guard mentioned when he handed over his belt pouch, there is a mastercrafted dwarven war axe which bears the family mark of a dwarven clan Bogorin has heard of which he would assume to be Tordred's but no sign of his armour. Money wise each guard had about 2gp and 3sp each with the goblin carrying 3 platinum bearing the Chelish bankers' mark.

Meanwhile: Herve

Spoiler:
The table next to you has a small open box holding a number of vials totaling about 6 in all three are blue, two are green and one red. It was mentioned earlier but got overlooked when Bogorin heard the calls from the cell area earlier

Way to intimidate the heck outta him Willy! But, ah, Boggo had kinda meant ya to keep an eye on the guard...the Gnome should be no problem ;-).

Hopeless, assuming there are enough of us to divide up the stuff, we do so, but if necessary we'll leave the less valuable and heavier items behind.

Will Leafy's way out lead us past where Herve was last seen?

And I remembered btw, Boggo's already leveled up :P

"The other way out is down the other corridor leading out of the lab, there's a shrieker marking the spot where the secret door is, its amazing what they can do with that shrink spell of theirs you know," the guard mutters.

"So where did you say you found those bracers?" he asks Tenna curiously.

"You do know the boss is some kind of devil, don't you?" he asks after a moment.

"This place was built for the boss's slave by some giants, somehow the boss took over and expanded on the operation, don't know what he has planned but that poor sod should have been back here by now," he mentions looking alarmed.

Looking over at the glaring merchant.
"I don't know what you're so mad about, your people have been accepting those bribes to keep quiet about that camp out there for at least three years now," he quips.

"Shut up! Thats a lie!" Jonas blusters back.

"Oh right? So who did those blades belong to? They were brought in with your wagon after all, strange I remember them hauling in that halfling but it was the ogre that brought you and the girl over there," he belts back.

As Jonas' role and connection to these events is beginning to be revealed, Bogorin slowly turns towards the Gnome. He is gripping his warhammer so hard that his knuckles turn white and there is nothing but the promise of gruesome death in his eyes if the Gnome does not begin speaking the truth, Now. In a low and terrifyingly monotone voice he grates "Tell me ye had aught tae do with me Dale being taken by that now dead Ogre Jonas..." his eyes boring deeply into the greedy merchant, trying to discern the Gnomes lies (1d20+7=11).

"N-no I had nothing to do with this I swear! I didn't even know about the Chels, I had nothing to do with their deal! Ulp!" Jonas blanches dropping the bulging pack he's carrying.

"Drat they're going to kill me..." he sighs dropping his arms and hanging his head in shame.

"I didn't know about the Ogre, I swear, I know someone in the Consortium was supplying somebody out here but I didn't know they were Chelish its pretty much common gossip that the Consortium is trying to monopolise the trade route from Falcons Hollow through to the South of Andora. I really didn't know about all of this..." he sighs raising his head to glance at Dale who gives him a dark and foreboding look.

"Those blades were found in a ruined monastery up somewhere near Falcons Hollow, I didn't know they were sidestepping the waystation only that the Consortium had done something similar to secure the route down south," Jonas finally explains.

"Oh, him." Willy turns and glares at the guard.

Intimidate: 1d20+4=22

"He ain't goin' nowheres neither."

His expression not changing one whit, except to possibly get darker, Bogorin says, "Ok, well seems tae me that there's much o this as will have tae be sorted out with the town council. Ye kin go ahead an pick back up that bag Jonas, long as ye understand that it's contents ain't yours tae keep. But ye kin do yer part tae carry the load. Now let's find Herve if he ain't run off and get out o here."

Unless anyone has anything else to add? Let's round up, gather Herve, and head back to the Orge's lair...yes?

"Actually you head the opposite way until you reach the shrieker, I know how to open the door but once I do we need to rush up to the surface as you'll need to get as far away from the other exit before the guards over at the camp see us," the chelish captive advises.

"Unless you want to find out what the boss is up to?" he asks a little hesitantly.

Each of the guards had three potion vials on them, one you have used on Willy which means there's now 2 potions of Cure Light wounds, 3 potions of cure moderate wounds and three potions of lesser restoration and the Chelish Guard you are holding captive will have told you that anyway

Okay I assume you'll meet up with Herve back in the lab?
Will wait for Herve to respond before proceeding

Taking a long look at Dale and realizing that, no matter what, he cannot bear the idea of putting her at risk just after going through so much to rescue her, Bogorin says "Well, me minds made up then, I do no claim the right tae speak fer the rest o' ye, but I'm fer takin' mi dear Dale back home tae saftey. Yer welcome tae come wit me, but if the rest o ye wish tae go after the boss man, I'll join ye as soon as I able. N' I kin take the rest of the treasure back tae town n' ye can be sure on a Rockstomper's Word that ye'll be gettin yer fair share." And with that speech, he motions for the guard and Jonas to begin walking ahead of him (back towards the lab) and for Dale to fall in behind him.

By the way Hopeless, Boggo HAS taken away Jonas' bag of loot from him and he and Dale are carrying his share of whatever they took off the guards and Goblin. Also, Val has been having some RL issues, I don't think she would mind you NPCing Tenna for her until she is able to get back to us.

Well I'd say she'd rather stick with Bogorin than endanger the party or the Ogre's former captives

"Okay let's see whats kept our erstwhile leader so busy then!" Tenna nods in agreement as she moves ahead with her bow drawn and an arrow notched clearly expecting trouble, but as you move into the lab its to see Herve standing by one of the lab tables with the remains of a broom at his feet looking nonplussed as he shuts a small chest on the table before looking towards you.

Okay Herve, Willy and Leafy?

Male Human (Taldan) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 5

"I'll go wit' ya Bogey. We gonna come back?"

"I don't know what you all are planning to do, but me personally, I would like to get out of this place. But if you are wanting to go after the Big Boss person here, I can stick around. But we should probably get the former hostages to safety before we deal with the Boss person. We can always come back to take care of that if we need to.", Leambo said.

Answering both Leafy and Willy together Bogorin says "Aye lads, if'n there still here, ye kin be sure me hammer's still got an appointment with the head o' him as was behind the snatching o' me Dale. 'Sides, what with all this one has told us" as he jerks his meaty thumb at the guard "I'm sure the town council won't be plannin' on jus' leavin' that hidden consortium by itself."

As the party reaches back into the lab and sees a clean, unbloodied, Herve, the broken broom and the chest, the old Dwarf snorts in disgust as he hawks, spits and says "So, this be what them as think they's better then the rest o us do when the rest o us is bleeding and riskin' our lives. Bloody nobles, never had much use for 'em." Not paying any more mind to the young noble Boggorin simply continues to stomp off in the direction of the ladder that brought them down to this level.

Hey, just to be clear Robin, I have nothing against you at all my friend. But Herve rubbed Boggo the wrong way from the beginning and the old Dwarf seeing him standing there like he hasn't even broken a sweat while the rest of the party are battered and bruised and Willy almost died certainly hasn't won Herve any points in Boggo's book. I myself understand what Herve was doing but Boggo doesn't know anything about it. ;-)

"Yeah!" says Willy glaring at Herve.

Although Willy doesn't remember anything from the fight, or much from before it, if Bogorin is mad at Herve Willy figures he must have a good reason.

Herve shrugs and will close the march.
"Take care , the imp has killed the dwarf'
