"Alright, we need to see outside quick, we'll save swimming as a last resort. Skazz can you get the heads?"
She looks to the goblin, "Way out? Secret! We leave now! Where?"
Glark looks up at Liandra, terror in his eyes, and blurts out a string of unintelligible goblin words. You can make out the name Lamashtu somewhere in the middle of it, but otherwise everything seems to blend together. He then shakes his head violently and points back the way that you came in.

"Alright lets go, keep your weapons out!"
Liandra leads the dash back in the direction the group entered from preparing to attack anything that surprises her.
The boat creaks again as you move swiftly across its old wood and step out through the hole in the boat's side. The fishery blocks your view of most of the city, including the area where the glow had been visible, but you can see both to the north and the south that the citizens of Korvosa have gone wild. Guards are trying to hold back riots, some people wield weapons. You hear breaking glass as one man breaks a store window, only to be accosted and thrown to the ground by a Hellknight. Hippogriff-riding Sable Company Marines sweep around the sky, keeping a watchful eye on the crowds below but, so far, not interfering.
Just a brief reminder to everyone to keep an eye on the Discussion thread. I've just posted some information about Korvosa's military organizations in it.

"Yeah I do and that," she says pointing to the black armored figure, "is a Hellknight"
"If they're out here it's all gone south. Stick together, move fast and drop anything that tries to stop us, let's go!"
Liandra takes off at a full run trying to lead the others away from the thick of the chaos and find a way to her apartment in Old Korvosa.
As you move through the streets, Glark bumbling along after you and mostly being ignored amidst the chaos, you begin to make out some of the things that people are saying.
"The king is dead!"
"Long live the queen!"
"I heard it was some girl from Midland."
"Murdered..."
"I heard that she started that fire, too..."
"All hail Queen Ileosa Arabasti!"
"Kill the Queen!"
The Guard, Order, and Company all appear to be stretched thin trying to stop mass riots, and they aren't able to stop the criminals who inevitably rise up during such chaos.
Do you take any other action or continue to navigate halfway across the city to Liandra's house?

Liandra cuts her speed slightly to accomodate her friends, trying to find the best path while taking in the whole picture and observing people's actions.
Sorry about the delayed response... my internet connection has been acting up. Again. I need to hear back from Vex about something in the discussion thread before we can proceed much further, though.
You see a swarm of people, at least 20 but maybe more, moving in your direction as you turn the corner onto Sunrise Boulevard. It looks like they're running away from something. Something big.
Something that looks like this.
An otyugh.
And it smells as bad as it looks... it seems to have brought the sewers along with it when it got loose.*
Attack vs. Vex's Reflex: 18 vs. 12.
Suddenly, a half-elf in the back of the oncoming hoard of people falls to the ground, and the otyugh advances.
What do you do?
*Otyughs in Korvosa are the city's main method of waste disposal. They are kept locked in the sewers below the city, although on very rare occasions they do escape.

Vex is no ordinary looking half elf damsel. In fact, at first you probably wouldn't even realize she is a halfelf. She is over six feet tall, clad in chain mail and obviously well muscled. She has a massive flail that she was attempting to the fend the creature off with. The flail looks like a weapon more suited to an orc or an ogre than a woman. All the hair on her head has been completely shorn off. She is a warrior through and through.
Any PCs who have ever served in the guard might know a bit about her already

Ignoring the people running past her Liandra comes to a stop unslinging ther loaded crossbow and unleashes a shot at the Otyugh.

Skazz starts to jog towards the creature, increasing speed to a charge with the intent of leaping forwards at it and delivering a mighty overhead chop with Tusk-Taker.
OTYUGH: 36 HP (already reduced to 19 by Liandra); AC 17, touch 9, flat-footed 17; Fort 13, Ref 12, Con 16.
The creature's tentacle-eye swivels to look at Liandra, and the brute begins to turn away from Vex.
Initiative: Goburn 20A, Skazz 20B, Liandra 19, Corvin 16, Otyugh 14, Algret 10, Vex 4.

Goburn's axe slices through the air and delivers a bone-shattering blow to the ground.

Damage = 5+4 = 9. note that Skazz is -2 to AC this round due to charging.

Liandra ratchets her crossbow and looses another shot into the space between her allies.

Otyugh now at 6 hp.
The giant brute, now bleeding from multiple wounds, begins to shamble away (Attack of Opportunity from Goburn and Skazz).

The otyugh is dead, and the street is mostly deserted after the fight.

Vex gets to her feet, gags from the stink, hefts her massive flail with both hands and brings it down on the creature with all her might for good measure.
She then moves out of the way of the thing, trying to escape its horrible odor. She looks around, eyeing the folks that slaughtered the beast.
(she's had some bad experiences with orcs in the not so recent past, so seeing a half orc come to her aid is a little weird for her, and she's not sure what to make of it).
She addresses her words to the party.
"This town's gone mad. I thought there were only cowards and lowlife's living in this s*## hole. It isn't everyday you see folks willing to put themselves at risk to help their neighbors. Who are you people?"

"The name's Liandra" the half elf woman in dark leather says, putting awy her crossbow.
"That's Skazz, Goburn, this is Algret and Corvin." she indicates each of the party in turn.
"We need to keep moving, we can walk and talk, where you headed?"

Wiping Tusk-Taker clean of gore, Skazz shoulders the great axe. nodding at Vex he says,"Nice work Vex. I don't know what it is about girls and their toys in this city, but I ain't compainin'! Nice weapon you got 'der by da way."

Vex looks down at her flail and replies to Skazz
I had some troubles with orcs a little while back. I took this as a reward for my efforts.
She then looks toward the elf
"I'm heading to old town to she if my mother is doing okay. The way things are in this town, I'm concerned for her safety."

"That's where we're going. I have a place there where we can lay low for a bit. I can't speak for everyone but I'll help you make sure your mom is safe."
Liandra looks distracted for a moment and a little sad.
The goblin accompanying you looks at Vex, "Me Glark!"

<She's not eager to converse with half orcs and goblins just yet. She'd rather thump them with her flail.>

Setting a quick pace Liandra returns the nod, looks to Skazz with a shrug and continues off at a pace that allows the Dwarves and Goblin to keep up.
As the party jogs forth she takes a moment to fall back alongside Algret.

You arrive at your destination without any further (major) incident, although the city is still engulfed in chaos. Vex, would you like to describe the building?

I'm pulling a bit of stuff from the guide to Korvosa for this one
Vex leads you across one of the many bridges that connects the new city to Old Korvosa. She leads you through some of the city's most decrepit slums towards old city hall.
You pass by one building in particular that Vex chooses to point out.
"Across the street there is the Orisini Academy. It's run by a man by the name of Vencarlo Orisini. Well, actually these days he doesn't do that much instructing at the academy, but he's one of Korovosa's most renowned swordsmen. My mother trained under him."
Vex's mother lives just down the street from academy. The building is a big one. It has several shops on the street level, none of them look like they are flourishing. The upper two stories of the structure are apartments. The entire building leans out over the street rather precariously.
Vex's mom's apartment is accessed by a rickety wooden staircase that crawls up the side of the building. He home is on the third floor.

I've been having some trouble lately and might not be able to post a whole lot for a few more days... just a heads-up. I'll try to check once in a while in the meantime.

Vex heads upstair on her own to check on her mother. She's not eager to introducer her to a bunch of strangers. She isn't gone for long. When she comes back down she speak to Lilandra.
"My mother is well. I told her to stay inside, but I may try to get some food supplies to bring her in case she has to stay in her home for a few days. However, I owe a debt to you and your friends for helping slay that foul creature earlier. I intend to pay it back. Where are you planning on going next?"

Someone's been pulling strings with us and I mean to find out who and hang them with 'em. Besides whith all this crazyness goin' on it can't be a coincidence."
