Liandra Nightwind |
Leading the imposing group Liandra marches towards the crowd, bellowing in her most authoritarian tone.
"Ignorant peasants. Do you understand you speak treason? If one guard is harmed I will personally see this spot stained with your filthy blood. Move aside and let those who truly serve Korvosa go about their work."
She looks to the nearest guard and guestures, "You there, stop cowering from rabble and let my unit through. We have information for Her Majesty's ears only."
Bluff 1d20+6=20 (Note: At its most literal, nothing she has said is untrue.)
Liandra Nightwind |
"Our weapons will be peacebonded, a contingent of guards can surround us, we will maintain a distance of 20 paces from the Royal Person. We will not be unarmed. Who ever killed the king had access to the palace. There are enemies of the crown about and I do not mean to be caught unawares."
Liandra stares directly into the guards eyes as she speaks.
Vexiana aka Vex |
Vex takes off her massive orc flail and drops it at the guards feet. Her shield is on her back and she tosses that on the floor as well. She puts down her unstrung bow, and quiver of arrows. Then she unbuckles her sword belt and sets down her shortsword and dagger.
She doesn't say anything, but gives the guards a look that says, "If you touch my stuff I'll tear your heads off with my bare hands."
Liandra Nightwind |
Liandra glares at the guard for a moment, then proceed to disarm herself taking her time adding to the pile as she withdraws the numerous knives hidden on her person. She looks over her shoulder at Corvin and winks.
"Ward our stuff against interference will you? Make it a good one." She looks at the guard, no offense but cant be too careful these days.
Bluff 1d20+6=21
"The bag comes with us. It's evidence."
DM_Iziak |
I assume that Skazz and Goburn have left their weapons.
"Excellent. Follow me, please."
The guard leads you up to the top of the pyramid staircase, and then turns to to lead you around the stairs which surround the castle's exterior. The stairs alongside the magnificent building lead up three flights before ending at a door.
The guard nods to you as he pushes the door open, "Madame Merrin, Her Majesty's bodyguard, shall lead you the remainder of the way."
Do you enter?
Algret , Priestess of Torag |
Algret takes a deep relaxing breath.

Sorry about the delay responding.
KNOWLEDGE: (Let's just say that you all know this). Sabina Merrin is the Queen's handmaiden and bodyguard. She was trained by the famed weapons master Vencarlo Orisini, but she left his school after a bitter duel with her former master. Over the past four years, she quickly gained higher ranks in the Korvosan Guard until reaching her current position.
IN-GAME: Sabina mutters something under her breath which you can't quite hear before saying aloud, "Excellent. How would you wish to be introduced to Her Majesty Queen Ileosa Arabasti?"
ALGRET:
DM_Iziak |
"Excellent. Right this way."
Sabina walks over towards the door opposite the one through which you entered and leads you through it down a short but twisting hallway to stop before a set of grandly decorated double doors.
"Her Majesty is just through here." Sabina pushes the doors open and steps through.
Queen Ileosa Arabasti sits upon the aptly-named Crimson Throne at the far end of this amazing room. She is a vision of celestial beauty despite the black mourning veil she is wearing.
Sabina gestures to each of you in turn, "My lady, may I present to you Liandra Nightwind; Goburn, Son of Ogrun, the Rotund Ranger of Redcave; Vexiana; Algret Durthane, Priestess of Torag; and Skazzgrakk Stormborn, last of the Six Bears tribe. It seems that they have something for you."
She nods to Liandra.
Liandra Nightwind |
Going to one knee, while maintaining eye contact, Liandra begins to speak.
"Your Majesty, my group and I recieved information of suspicious activity by goblins within the less desireable parts of the city. We followed our leads and found amongst other things, that they were removing all poster of the theft of your brooch.
When we investigated further, we found a hive of the filthy vermin that had been butchering locals. We proceeded to sanitize the region, of which we have evidence of the leaders."
Liandra guestures to the bag held by Skazz.
"In the midst of the carnage I believe we located your brooch. If you will permit me, I will present it for your inspection, My Lady."
Liandra Nightwind |
"Then forgive me any impropriety My Queen," Liandra says as she begins to unfasten the buckles on the upper portion of her armor, "I only wished to ensure it's safe delivery."
With continued eye contact and a small smile, she continues to remove the top half of her clothing leaving her upper body bare. Reaching behind her she unfastens the ties of the pouch wound around her body multiple times.
Her upper armor still on the floor Liandra drops to one knee, drawing one arm almost demurely acrosss her chest and holding the brooch forth with the other, maintaining eye contact the entire time.
"If it pleases my Queen, shall I approach?"
DM_Iziak |
As Liandra walks closer to the queen, you see that Sabina's hands are on the hilt of her sword, ready to draw it at a moment's notice.
The queen slowly takes the brooch from Liandra's hands at appraises it briefly before speaking, "This brooch was stolen from me some time ago-I had not expected to see it again, truth be told. And yet, here on my darkest day, you come before me with kindness. The return of the brooch is a much more than honorable deed. It is inspiration. It is hope.
"I love Korvosa, as my husband did before me. His death has shocked the city as it has me, but I will not see his legacy destroyed in death, and I shall not see my city torn apart. All Korvosa stands at the precipice of of a disaster wrought by her citizens-these riots cannot continue. You have already done my heart a great service in returning this bauble to me on this dark day, and you shall be rewarded. Yet, perhaps you can serve your city more.
"If you s choose, I shall have Sabina see to it that you have an escort of guards when you leave here-they can see to your safe journey to Citadel Volshyenek..."
(the main fortress of the Korvosan Guard)
"... I shall send word ahead of you to Field Marshal Cressida Kroft to let her know you are on the way-the Korvosan Guard is stretched thin, and it can certainly use the aid of heroes such as yourself. Now, I need to retire to my personal quarters-my grief has drained me. Again, I thank you for the kindness you have shown me, and I hope your days of serving the crown are only just beginning."
The queen stands and leaves through a side door in the room.
Vexiana aka Vex |
A dark look crosses Vex's face. She's still harboring a grudge against the guard, but this might give her a chance to a few who she owes some payback to. Luckily Croft isn't in her bad books.
"It's been a while since I've spoken with Croft. I think we should pay her a visit."
DM_Iziak |
Sabina nods, "Excellent. Follow me."
She leads you back to the room where you initially met her, "Please wait. I shall get your reward."
She walks back into the castle. You hear a click as the door further into the castle locks after her.
I'm probably not going to be posting much for three or four days; you can talk amongst yourselves if you want, or just wait awhile.
Skazzgrakk |
"Skazz aint to sure about this. It makes me feel a bit restricted...if you know what I mean. How much freedom will we stil have? I ain't used to this sort of ...control. But, if it's what the group wants to do, then i'll bow to the majority. And anyway, you never know, I might even get into another fight! And we might get paid! And we might get rich! OK I'm convinced!"
Liandra Nightwind |
"Heh,one of the many reasons I like you Skazz. Look at it this way, we agreed to help the city anyway. what better way to do it than from inside."
She lowers her voice and looks at Vex, "Besides, I've got a feeling the guard could use cleaning up, and there's some pretty rotten stuff up here in the high society. I wanna help the people."
"That doesn't also mean there aren't some people I'd love to see again while wearing a badge." She grins wickedly.
