Liandra's Stealth: 17.
Enemies' Perception: 23, 19.
Enemies' Stealth: 21 (natural 20), 19.
Liandra can't hear anything on the other side of the door.
If everyone else thinks that its been a fair amount of time, I'll start looking for another player unless Corvin's player responds by the end of the week. There should actually be a point soon where we could add someone else in to the game fairly easily, so I want to take advantage of that opening if possible.
Skazzgrakk |
Skazz steps up behind Liandra and whispers,
"When we go in, stay behind me so I can soak up some hurt. No offence little lady but your important around here and this makes sense to Skazz. And if it's orc,...well me an' orcs have this special understandin', if you know what I mean"
Algret Durthane |
Corvin: Would you like help with aiming that spell of yours?
if yes, then Algret casts her guidance orison on him. It lasts one minute or until discharged and offers a +1 to hit, skill check or save of the recipients choice
Whispers intensely "Avengers Assemble! Ummm...Sorry. I don't know where that came from...ummm. May Torag bless us as we enter this battle! Ready."
Skazzgrakk |
Holding Tusk-Taker in one hand, Skazz throws the door open and barrels into the room, re-positioning his free hand on his weapons grip he yells a war cry, made famous amongst his tribe.
"SKAZZ SMASH!!!"
Without really taking in what he sees, Skazz swings Tusk-Taker at the nearest threat he senses.
Just goes to show how foolhardy and reckless a half orc barbarian really is!

This room is about the same size as the room where you encountered the bugbears. In the far corner of the room there is a stack of treasure... most of it useless junk, it seems, but some that has some value. There are also a few closed chests near the same corner.
There are two orcs in the room.
ORC BARBARIAN: This hulking brute has a look of wrath in his eyes. He holds a potion in one hand, and a wickidly sharp greataxe balanced between his other hand and the rooom's floor. HP 48; AC 14, touch 9, flat-footed 14; Fort 19, Ref 13, Will 14.
ORC PRIEST: This shamanistic figure is tattooed with blood-red symbols, dominated by the unholy symbol of Lamashtu, the Mother of Monsters. Bone fetishes and feathers dangle from his hair and clothing. HP 10; AC 17, touch 11, flat-footed 16; Fort 14, Ref 11, Will 13.
Initiative=Skazz 16, Liandra 15, Goburn 12, Algret 9, Orcs 8, Corvin 5A, Glark 5B.
I'll now post for readied actions in the proper order.
Liandra Nightwind |
Not sure when I'll be able to post today and I'm pretty sure my actions won't affect Skazz's turn so here goes
Using Skazz's burly form as a screen, Liandra dashes across the room, khukri in hand, straight at the Orc Cleric. Reeling from Corvin's blow the tattooed Orc is greeted with the sudden gleam of steel as the curved blade shears through his throat.
Attack 1d20+7 (+2 charge)= 26 (Nat 19)
Confirmation roll 1d20+7=19 (Hit)
Damage 2d4+2 (7) +1d6 Sneak Attack (4)=11
Shaman at -5hp
Algret Durthane |
I apologize for posting out of turn, but I will not get computer time again until late this afternoon or early evening. When it is Algret's turn insert the following:
Algret lets off a dwarvish battle cry, darts around Skazz and swings her mighty warhammer at the Orc Barbarian.
She rolls d20 and gets a natural 20 and rolls another natural 20 on confirmation (I have not had a good critical in the last two years of gaming, WAHOO!!!!!) 3d8+3=(1+7+5)+3=16
DM_Iziak |
Um... wow. That was fast. That was supposed to be a boss fight. The orc barbarian is at -6 hp and is dying, and the priest is at -5 hp and is also dying.
LEVEL UP! If you have any questions about character advancement, please post them in the discussion thread. I'm aware that you aren't yet even close to having normal treasure for level 2 characters, but you should have about 1,000 gp each by the time the next encounter comes around. I'll level up Corvin's character if he's needed in another fight, but I think that he'll probably become a background character well before then.
DM_Iziak |
Treasure from both of the orcs and the pile and chests in the room's corner:
STANDARD TREASURE: Banded mail, 3 spears, and various trinkets, small gems, and coins worth a total of 762 gp (effectively 178 gp for each player, including Corvin).
SPECIAL TREASURE: +1 studded leather armor, Mwk greataxe, Mwk spear, Mwk light steel shield, and a ruby brooch (which you immediately recognize as the same one from the papers upstairs).
And then there's something else in one of the chests...
Liandra Nightwind |
"Son of a b$@*&! We've been set up. If that's the old lady then who the hell sent us here? Between that, the fire and the damned Queen's brooch we are so in the damned weeds!"
Liandra looks around as if trying to find a way out of the obvious mess they're in.
"Hell Skazz, you sure know how to show a girl a good time," she chuckles shaking her head.
DM_Iziak |
A brief reminder to everyone not to forget the 178 gp each, and the special treasure. I think that unless there are any objections, the greataxe should go to Skazz, the armor to Goburn, and the shield to Algret (you can all fight over the brooch and spear). I just thought I'd mention the distribution that I had assumed so that it doesn't take a few days to iron out what each person is getting.
Also, it looks like Algret and Goburn haven't leveled up yet. It doesn't matter when you do, as long as its before the next major encounter, but I wanted to make sure that you hadn't missed it in my post above.
Skazzgrakk |
Skazz wont take any of the loot. He's quite happy with Tusk-Taker as his weapon at the moment, although he does take his share of the gold.
"Hey Li, If you think this is a good time then stick around...I might just suprise you!"Winks "So, anyone got any ideas? Who the hell gave us this job then?"
DM_Iziak |
Skazz, you could take the Mwk spear and sell it for 151 gp to make up for not getting an improved item, if you'd like. At some point down the road we can definetely see about getting Tusk-Taker upgraded to being a masterwork and, eventually, a magic weapon. I'd say that you can have a weaponsmith expertly sharpen and modify it for 300 gp into a masterwork weapon.

OK, Skazz will take the great axe and look at putting it towards the cost of upgrading Tusk-Taker. Thanks.
Skazz steps towards the deck.
"Well at least we got ourselves a little souvenier..."
Skazz reaches for the Harrow Deck...
Liandra Nightwind |
Liandra walks over to the brooch. "If nobody minds I'll hold onto this until we figure out what we want to do with it, at the very least I know someone who could fence this."
She looks around again thinking out loud. "Y'know if we were to try to return this for the reward, it's just like the corrupt bastard king to imply we stole it in the first place. A goblin or orc head or 2 would do a good job convincing people how we ended up with it."
"And we should probably get out of here as soon as we're sure this place is clear, 'cause somebody knows we're here, and I want to have a little talk with them," she grins wickedly. "Weren't there barrels of oil outside?"
DM_Iziak |
And now for something completely different...
You hear people outside, some calling in anguish, some in hatred, although you cannot make out any individual words.
SKAZZ
Skazzgrakk |
Skazz shudders and almost falls as he catches himself against a wooden post. For a moment he gets a far away look in his eyes.
"Woooh...Skazz don't feel to clever right now. This whole thing feels bad, like...like hundreds of voices all crying out in terror...maybe not, I don't know. But this feels bad for the whole city. Y'know, maybe we should just bug out o' here before anythin' else bad seems to fall on us...Still think we should torch the place though... An' what's all that shoutin'...?"
Liandra Nightwind |
"I say we burn it if only for the distraction and get the hell out of here quick. We can go back to my place if nothing else, and I can thinkl of a couple dives where we can get the word on whats going on, but we gotta move now. You sure you gonna be ok big guy?"
Algret Durthane |
"Alright" Algret Grumps, "If the rest of you are in agreement, I will go along with it, but under protest. From burning buildings it is just a slippery slope away from forming mobs, grabbing pitchforks and chasing helpless constructs through the countryside." Mumbles under her breath "no good can come it.."
Skazzgrakk |
Skazz straightens and supports himself on Liandra's shoulder.
"Thanks, yes i'm ok. I think your place sounds like a good plan. From there we can formulate what our options are. And burning this place sounds like a great diversion to me. Any one any good at starting fires...Big fires?"
