Once upon a time...
High there. We can use this to discuss things out of game etc. I will tell you bits of background info as i think of them etc. A bit about me though. I have been running games for over 20 years but am quite new to pbp. In table games i tend to be more for story and narative over combat...dont realy use miniatures or floorplans any more, preffering to describe things. So pbp does reflect this in how i run a game. If I can, i will post a map, but most of the time you will be going off descriptions.

Okay, any restrictions we need to know about like alignments for example or do the group meet up for the first time or will they be allowed for characters to have already met to help get the group develop faster?
(OOC: Need to read through the player's companion anyway, but thought to get this out of the way to avoid problems later, haven't got this book only have the first three volumes from rise of the runelord and book 1 from the second adventure path have to admit I'm curious to not only see what this is like but also the Pathfinder Beta)
IRONHARD |
No restrictions really. Thought we could wait to see what everyone comes up with before i decide on how everyone meets or whether you are all strangers.
I have most of the Pathfinder products so far so any questions feel free to ask away.
By the way, heres a bit about me: real name is Neil, and i live in Blackpool, Lancs. PBP is the best way for me to play at the moment as a lot of my time is spent on my sons junior football team. But having played RPGs since 1987 i'm not willing to give them up. Have played many different games but Pathfinder is up their with the best. I think only original Forgotten Realms, Ptolus and Iron Kingdoms come anywhere close, as do many of the necromancer games adventures.

Hi there Neil, I'm dahn, thanks for jumping on running this game. If you hadn't started up one, I was thinking of DMing a go. I may still in the future. Always excited for a fast paced game, and with 8 PCs, I think this will prove to be the case. Should be lots going on.
I do have a few questions, however.
1 - Are we getting the standard 2 Character Traits (one campaign, one other)?
2 - Any house rules we should know about?
3 - Are you cool with us having any affiliations in Riddleport? Say if one would want to play a 'Cyphermage'?
As for what I'm intending to play, casters are my favourite and most comfortable class to play, however I'm already rocking a wizard and a sorcerer in two other pbps, so I'm totally open to play any class.
Been thinking about a 3.P Cleric or Druid for sometime, actually. Though a rogue would be great too.

Hi Dahn. To answer your questions:-
1 - Yes standard 2 character traits
2 - No house rules. Still gettig through Beta so we will go with how its written...for now.
3 - Having affiliations in Riddleport is good. I like players to have some background related to the story. Cyphermages are wayyy cool by the way!
All DMs are evil |
Hi, if there are any spaces left, or you get any drop outs count me in. I would jump at the chance to play.
Few things you need to know:
1) I have never played a play by post.
2) I DM all the time, so I might be over excited about actually getting to play.
3) I do subscribe to all the AP's so I have these adventures, but I have absolutely no intention of reading them until we finished the first AP and get half way thought the second (they finished hook mountain this week).
4) I am based in the UK and can post any time between GMT10 and GMT 23.00.
5) I will play any race, sex or class to fill in the blanks, or even happy to have a DM assigned character.
I think I know at least one of the other players from DMTools.org, where I go as Wu-jen.
I know I am probably 24 hours late.

Some questions for character creation:
Starting gold?
Any limitations for abilities? (would you accept a half-orc with STR 19, DEX 10, CON 14, INT 5, WIS 13, CHA 14 as stats? Or is the INT 5 too low?)
Character traits: I'd like to take "Fools for Friends" and "Armor Expert", any problems with that?
(Fools for Friends is a nice tie-in for other players.)
That's it for now.

My plan is for a Half-Elf whore-priestess of Calistria. She's an expert at gathering information, and distributing it, for the right price. She's got a bit of a sweet tooth for magic items, even ones she can't use, that often gets her into trouble.
The plan is cleric/rogue. The domain power for 'knowledge' is pretty great for a prostitute, I'd say. 'Touch' something to learn a little info about it. Thanks! I'll touch it lots!
I'm going to stat her up now.
Don't think that the 'cleric' or 'rogue' spot is filled up, by any means. I'm not sure where I'm going to lean the most in terms of multiclassing, but I'm not aiming at a super optimized character in anyway. And she's pretty niche in terms of her concept. There's plenty of room in the party for more clerics and rogues.
edit: Franz, even Ogres (a la the SRD) have INT6. Expect lots of jokes being thrown at you, just to see them fly over your head.

Yeah. But it was just a 'What goes within the rules' experiment.
I myself as DM would probably not allow it, and as player don't know how to play a wise, dumb, but charming half-orc (speaking in reference to the abilities stated above).
But I thought 'no harm done in asking questions'.
We will see. If the DM let's me play a really dumb half-orc, I like to try that and see the char going up in flames, if that is the outcome. If not, then the char will not be THAT dumb.

Angus the dwarven wizard a child of the temple who realises he's inside enemy territory.
Imagine a dwarf frustrated that he doesn't have the usual dwarven physique and aptitude for combat raised in the church he still persists with the idea that he can still fight as a true dwarven warrior albeit this transmuter has a long way to go since his training was mostly in scholarly fields and not quite so knowledgeable about the outside world.
But a battle axe is still a battle axe and this is one dwarf who doesn't intend to fail dwarven tradition!
(OOC: Where do I post a character? Also what rules are you doing as far as starting hit points are concerned?)
IRONHARD |
IRONHARD, would you accept an elven ranger even though true elves are not to common according to the companion? If so, I would start stating it up.
I was hoping to perhaps use the forthcoming Elves of Golarion to develop my character over time.
Stegger, an elven ranger is fine as is developing it as we go

This is fine as well. You can post your character on your home page linked to your icon.
All characters should start out with maximum HP and max gold.hopeless |
Still missing backstory and traits still I still don't have the companion yet ( I prefere to buy it at the store and they don't have it yet )
Is it okay if I wait till I have it ?
Would you like the gist of them here so you have something to read through whilst waiting for your copy?
The traits are based on two sets of possible traits to select from one is based on four types depending on whether you want a Combat, Faith, Magic or Social Trait whilst the 2nd is based specifically on the Second Darkness think of this as an introduction giving a reason like they did for Paizo's second Pathfinder adventure path.
I'll check back later for your reply.
Take care and all the best!

Take care and all the best!

Thats fine. Like I said, theres no imediate rush. I cant see us actually starting for another week at least. It gives all you people time to get things together and 'gell' a bit.

Elinea, a quite young female elven ranger, is slowly but steadily getting her character sheet and background information written up.
IRONHARD, how would you like to have the information on our characters? I am currently typping things in as a profile here on the Paizo site, but would you also like to have a proper character sheet with all stats, background history etc email to you?

Either way is fine by me, either e mail to me or as a profile.

Aude you're doing skills wrong, you can only add 1 rank per HD in Paizo's beta. i.e. 1/level rank max. You got some high numbers in there.
So at level 1 you can only pick (for you) 5 ranked skills. You somehow spent 20 skill points. Looks like you got chr as +3 stat too, it's +2 for a 14 chr.
Not picking on ya, I was just checking out the party so far for inspiration and saw some errors.
