I'm incandescent with rage after reading the latest version of Pathfinder. It doesn't give me any rules for a druid who wants to install twin steam-powered machine guns and a minedropper on his animal companion. I'm going back to playing Car Wars. Enjoy your crappy game, losers!!!
Hear hear! Is that a gas-powered animal companion or a fuel-cell one?

This stupid game has no rules for cyberware, bioware, or even f'in guns! What if I want a cyberarm gyromount and a Vindicator Minigun for my dwarf? What if I want my elf to be immortal and a powerful shaman (which I'll also mind the magic rules don't cover).
You can take your Pathfinder system and shove it, Shadowrun's where the real money shot's at.

I got to about here and though "but there are rules for druids...". Then I read this:

... and promptly sprayed my water all over me PC screen.
Thanks Hogarth. :p

The game doesn't even have ninjas. Or katanas. I mean proper ones (both ninjas and katanas).
A katana is supposed to do 3d6 damage, x4 on a crit, with a thread range of 1-20 (a natural 1 isn't a miss with a proper katana), and they're +5 vorpal naturally out of the forge. Then you can enchant them (at half-price, they're that awesome).
And a ninja, well: d20 hp, double BAB (+2 at first level and so on), all good saves, has the spell progression of a sorcerer and knows all spells from any source, knows how to use all weapons (but mostly uses 2 katanas, which he can wield without any penalty whatsoever), sneak attack +2d6 per level, gets all skills as class skills at one free rank per level each, and his level as a bonus on all checks (no matter what the check). And they get 15000 bonus XP when they become a ninja.
Of course, that would be the minimum: Still pathetically weak for a real ninja, but it would be a compromise I could grudgingly accept.

Oh god. It's a katana post.
Isn't that a banning offense? Or is that only at WotC and / or ENWorld?

Didn't Deities and Demigods have a section for Ninjas?
I am done with Pathfinder because it is continuing with everything that is good about D&D while fixing minor errors. I might as well just make my own homebrew game system that is better than PRPG, because I am that good.

KaeYoss |

No, they said that the general power level for Deities and Demogods wasn't nearly high enough to do them properly.
Did you know that in Legend of the Five Rings, there is a ninja school? It doesn't have 5 insight ranks like other schools, it only give you one ability: "'Shadow Warrior': You win the game."

What is HARP? I'm used to MERP/Rolemaster, but HARP I don't recognize.
High Action Role Playing
It's sort of a Rolemaster light, but it lacks the feel or the complexity of either Rolemaster or 3.5 (which I have always felt as Rolemaster light anyway, especially since Monte Cook was in on both)
In many ways it is almost a cross between G.U.R.P.S. and Rolemaster, just with no cool background world.
Edit: I'm quitting pirating PDF's of RPGS and will hence forth pay for the hard copies and get my PDF's for free.

OK, I'll bite, since I had recently left 3.5 out of disgust with the broken bits (Since returning to Pathfinder as my official other game, now I have two...). BTW, I was an ICE guy from 87 until 95 or so,running RM, MERP, Cyberspace and Space Master,so I know my ICE.
HARP is pretty much ICE's answer to D20. ICE wanted something to compete with D20, since Rolemaster is really heavy on rules, charts, charts, rules, tables...did I mention the charts? BTW, I still love one-shot-one kill options, but I didn't want to go back to 4 hour character generation, and an hour to level up during a character's career. RM is very math intensive. , giving
Anyways, HARP might seem like a lite version of RM in some areas, but it really shines in others. The spell system is pure awesome, with scalable spells that don't become obsolete at higher levels.
The 'half races' rules are outstanding, allowing either a true half race, or rules for a distant relation that manifests in a minor, yet interesting way. Likewise, the training packages rock some pretty serious ass.
As far as setting, the default HARP setting doesn't really do it for me, but I went in looking for a rules set for my settings, rather than needing a setting. Frankly, PF wouldn't work very well for 2 of my three settings, so I am splitting my efforts between the two systems, quite happy, all-in-all.
With Pathfinder for my 'Roll loads of dice for a fireball, nostalgia, color-coded Dragons and Pit Fiends.
With HARP I have my realistic 'Yes, a well thrown dagger might kill the 12th level fighter', no ECL hits for large creatures, since they, too, can die in one shot.
My group runs both games now, with different folks preferring different systems (HARP is a fairly new one for us).

Totally. I mean, in real life, a katana can cut through a tank! It's true; I read it somewhere on the internet.

It could be made slightly more realistic if ninjas were given a permanent improved invisibility effect that they could supress at will as an immediate action.

On ninjas and katanas— it amuses me that ninja didn't often use katanas, since they were expensive to produce, hard to conceal, and a symbol of station. They favored much less expensive ninja-to, and the straight blade enabled (among other features) the ability to use them as a step ladder to scale walls.
Three cheers for broke ninja!

You're misinformed. Ninjas so used katanas. And always at least two at once (good ones were able to wield two in each hand, which was known as Ninjistic Windmill of Death. Saw it with my own eyes.) They didn't need to conceal them because they painted them with invisible ink, so no one except the ninjas could see them.

This is a point of debate amongst scholars. One side says that Ninjas have amazing senses, and so can easily detect the smell of a katana from the other side of the planet. The other side argue that ninja-science created an invisible ink so powerful, not even a ninja could detect it.
I believe the esteemed Prof. N. Jahrul settled this argument with the famous quote.
"If ninjas could not detect the ink, then how could they apply it to their katanas?"
Of course, Ninja-Scholars, the wisest beings in the universe (known or otherwise) scoff at these petty arguments, as they know full well that Ninjas move so fast that normal human vision is irrelevant.
While we are on the subject, Ninjas should get +20ft to base speed (all base speeds) per level.

This is my first post on these boards. And I'm only posting to say "I quit". I am done buying quality products that my gaming buddies enjoy. From now on, I will be finding other sources where I can spend twice the cash on half the value.
Oh...and if there's no armadillo race in the PHB...then I have no time for your speciesist game!
