Male Human Ranger 2

"Sounds like this could be the lair of a ..... Whoa! .... that! That being a white dragon. A couple arrows in the face may improve its mood."

Surprise: Nimble Strike, +6 to hit, 1d10+5 damage, Shift to AS16. Arrow used is the one that has the light on it, especially since I think we have multiple light sources in the group (I have a sunrod going if I am not mistaken).

Action Point Used.
Minor: Hunter's Quarry - if I get a minor along with the standard using an action point.
Standard: Evasive Strike +6 to hit, 2d10+5+1d8 damage, shift 2 squares to AT18 (or AS18 if I have to go around corners).

Watch out - this thing can breathe frost!

Anmuspi is first to react, but his arrow is deflected by the pillar. His second arrow does no better. And Anmuspi backs away from the room.

"isthasy, vi klewar ekess ukris - onelka sia svern sela hivis - svabol diwedote wux chiili persvek wer vnal" she bellows to the dragon as she moves.

Anmuspi, when you used the action point Block allowed you to heal up the point you were down. And you only gain 1 action with an action point (minor, move, or standard).

Kava moves along the east wall and out from behind the pillar steps the dragon. It's immense claws dig into the ice as moves into the center of the room. The creature speaks in a low growl that give its prideful words an sense of contained rage, "Si mi wer new ssissth di wer vnal. Svabol tribute chiili wux bring wer mighty Szartharrax, batobot si might origato wux waph?"

A'loran -

Spoiler:
I gave you two Nature checks, one for chromatic dragons and one for white dragons, and though you know nothing about them, you did get rid of a 1 and a 2 from your d20 rolls.

Westman and Rolf are next, each getting a single action.

Male Dwarven Cleric

Rolf will cast Guardian of Faith at AQ12 then spend an action point and retreat to AT 18. "Mighty Kord send a servant to battle"

"In tribute to you szartharrax and to Tiamat I bring this mighty flail, forged by mighty dragonborn smiths, with the iron head of a dragon. Let me show you." says Kava plainly and in common, a matter of fact answer to a matter of fact question.

Sgt. Westman Block wrote:

As this is the surprise round, do you intend to spend an action point to ready Wolf Pack Tactics?

Rolf, just to let you know, I have almost no computer access on Wednesdays, so I usually don't have a chance to post anything substantial.

male human warlord 2

I didn't think I got a surprise round. No thanks on the AP.

Sgt. Block moves to Kava's side. A faint shimmering figure carrying a shield emblazoned with a golden sword appears in the room at Rolf's command. as Rolf himself moves further back down the hall.

Anmuspi is next, followed by Kava. And we're into normal rounds.

Male Human Ranger 2

Anmuspi advances to get an unobstructed view and then fires off two shots at the dragon, hoping that the cover was the problem with the prior shots.

Move: Move to AS14.
Minor: Hunter's Quarry on dragon.
Standard: Twin Shot on Dragon: +6/+6, 1d10+1+1d8/1d8+1 for damage.

Anmuspi moves closer, but his aim is off on both shots.
Last time it was cover, this time it's poor rolls, sorry. Kava is up.

Kava sizes up her opponent realising that this is a desicion either life-affirming of life ending...

Uh oh. Choose your own adventure time.
If Snarzcumber notices Anmuspi's arrows and get's angry go to page 1. If Slartybartfast keep's eyeing Kava hungry for gold go to page 2.

page 1 As the great white beast turns to Anmuspi Kava charges "have a closer inspection - courtesy of BAHAMUT!" Swinging the massive dragon headed flail at the head of the massive dragon in a wide arc. divine challenge (minor); charge to AR8 (stndard?); open a can of whupass on big white; breathe flame to even up the deal (if I still have a minor left)

page2 The great white beast is oblivious to Amnuspi's wild shot's over it broad back. Kava gingerly approaches it massive flail streched out before her. As she gets there she eye's the dragon feigning friendship and waiting for the precise moment to strike. move to AR8; hold a standard action for any signs of agression on big white's part Radient Smite style (if I provoke walking up to him then I'll attack and add the fire breathe as a minor)
Hope I've got the holding your action correct :)

Kava your Insight leads you to page #1.
Kava rushes the dragon, her flail smashing into it's flank.
Kava hit for 6 (this time I took the damage from the right list).

She then inhales deeply and lets out a plume of flame that the dragon easily negates with a slight fan of its wings.

The dragon takes a step back on the ice and unleashes its own breath weapon, a blast of frost, at Kava and Westman. Kava takes the brunt of it.
Kava is hit for 16 and is slowed and weakened, and Kava is bloodied.

The dragon spends an action point.
It then turns it's attention back to those in the hall, rising up on it's rear legs and unleashing an earthshaking roar at Anmuspi and A'loran.
The dragon takes 6 points of damage from Kava's mark. Anmuspi is stunned (no actions) until the end of the dragon's next turn and has a -2 to attacks (save ends). A'loran is fine.

Block is next, followed by Rolf, A'loran, Anmuspi, and back to Kava.

Male Dwarven Cleric

Do not forget the attack from my GUARDIAN of FAITH
Any creature that ends its turn next to the conjured guardian is subject to an attack d20+3 vs Fortitude. On a hit, the attack deals 1d8+3 damage.

Rolf will move to AR 14 Move action He sustains the GoF minor action and he uses Sacred Flame 1d20+3 vs Reflex d6+3 damage and one ally Kava can gain +1 to a save or +1 temporary Hit Point Standard action

Appreciate you not killing me outright Wedge :D I have some questions in the discussion thread
I'll definatly take the HP thanks Rolfie :D

"Arrrggh!!" Kava grunts under the onslaught of Szartharrax' frigid breath, the scales of her armour creaking and ping as they warp and buckle with the snap freeze.

male human warlord 2

Move to AR9. Use Guarding attack on the Dragon.

Rolf Unterhen wrote:

I'm aware of the Guardian, but the dragon was never next to it.

Kava, I forgot to say a save will end your slowed and weakened conditions.

Westman, I moved you to AQ9 so that you could attack. The ice counts as difficult terrain.
Westman moves forward and slashes the dragon's wing, knocking the dragon off balance.
Westman hits for 12 points and Kava gains a +3 power bonus to AC until the end of Westman's next turn.

Rolf returns to the room's entrance and raises his voice in prayer. A column of bright light forms around the dragon and it roars in pain.
Rolf hit for 4 points. Kava gets one temporary hit point.

A'loran is up, then Anmuspi and Kava.

Male Eladrin Wizard 3

"A Dragon!!!... Oh Boy... I've never seen one of those." A'loran tightens his grip on his new staff and darts around the corner to AN13. Looking up at the massive dragon. *gulp* "and I thought Kava was big"

Actually, I just read Sacred Flame and it looks like it let's you make an immediate save...

And looks like you failed. Sorry.

A'loran heads left along the south wall while muttering the words to a spell. Then he turns and makes a throwing motion, releasing an orb of magical energy that the dragon easily dodges.

Anmuspi stands dumbstruck.

Kava's turn.

"FOR BAHAMUT!"
swinging her mighty flail she calls upon the protector
stndard action 2nd wind; move to AQ8 (4sq's of movement counting slowed); action point radient smite;
I'm still divine challenging the Dragon and I think get +2 to AC cancelling out the -2 from combat advantage.
If that's all OK I'm back to 18HP and AC20 for the round

Kava, in 4E when you're slowed your speed becomes 2. It doesn't make the squares count as double.
Kava's flail glances harmlessly off the dragon's scales.
Kava heals an additional 2 points thanks to Westman, which puts her at 20 hp. Kava makes her save and is no longer slowed and weakened.

The dragon shifts back further from Kava and Westman, and closer to A'loran! The dragon lashes out with both foreclaws. A'loran manges to deflect one with his staff, but the second one rakes across his back.
A'loran is hit for 6 points, (and I applied your staff of defense to the first attack). A'loran is no longer stunned, but has a -2 on attacks (save ends).

Westman is next. Followed by Rolf, A'loran, Anmuspi, and Kava.

Rolf, right now the dragon is in squares AN10, AN11, AO10, AO11. The guardian is two squares away in AQ12.

I think I get it now. I should have said the blue squares represent the pool of ice. The dragon occupies all of the squares labelled "white dragon". To help repair the mix-up, I'll give the guardian a free attack when I get home from work. Sorry again.

BTW ... I think Big White takes another 6 for not engageing me (I was still challenging) That correct?

Kava's challenge does indeed do another 6 points of damage to the dragon. And the free attack from the guardian hits for 11 points.

Still Westman's turn.

I just want to point out that I've only been grazed by one claw attack for 6 and I don't believe i've got the -2 on attacks that is suppose to be anmuspi so Rolf might want to rethink his actions

Sorry, but you can't shift on difficult terrain (PH284), but you can move up.

Block advances and swings his sword in a low arc, it only results in a shallow groove in the ice.

Rolf's prayer is answered as a light envelopes the dragon.
Rolf hits for 8 points. Anmuspi fails his save.

A'loran slams his staff on the ground and the dragon is knocked backwards. Then A'loran moves closer to Rolf and Anmuspi.
A'loran hits for 9 points and the dragon is pushed back one.

Anmuspi is next, then Kava. Happy Thanksgiving to any Americans!

trailing the Thunder wave Kava launches herself back at the Dragon. "For the Protector!"
move AP8 - Holy Strike +6/2d6+5 - keep up the divine challenge (-2to attacks and 6 damage if I'm not the target)

Ordinarily I'd put Anmuspi on delay about now and continue the game. However, it is a long holiday weekend over here, and this is a tough encounter. So, as long as the rest of you don't mind, I'll give him a bit more time.

Male Human Ranger 2

rapid shot +4/+4 for 1d10+1+1d8/1d10+1 shifting 1 square for a better shot if need be.

Anmuspi fires off two quick shots. The first one connects!
Anmuspi hits for 11 points of damage. Anmuspi makes his save and no longer has an attack penalty.

Kava's attack misses terribly, almost falling down in the process.

The dragon steps away again as it claws twice at Kava. The first claw stains the ice with Kava's blood.
Kava is hit for 6 points of damage, and she is bloodied again.

Westman is next. Followed by Rolf, A'loran, Anmuspi, and Kava.

magic missle the dragon

"I'll try to flank it next round"

I do not think I have an action to move the GoF this turn I have already used a minor move and standard, hence I have not moved the GoF this round....

Male Human Ranger 2

Anmuspi takes careful aim and looses an arrow, aiming for the dragons face in an effort not only to wound, but also to distract.

Careful Attack +8 to hit, 1d10+1+1d8 damage if it hits.
