Prankster's Kava Argentine |
G** DAMN IT this it the 4th time I'm writing this due to my post being eaten by the board >:(
Seeing the boulder roll out of sight and hearing the kobold chiefs orders Kava yells ...
"Bri, Westman! WATCH OUT!! One of them has a freeze blast for you!! The boulder is rolling your way!!"
Grunting in pain she fumbles a stone as the flying drake rakes her leathery skin with it's claws. Enraged she lets off a sling stone at her the kobold above (S2), envoking Bahamut's fury to keep it's attention on her (Divine Challenge) and away from her friend in the perilous position atop the wall.
Brianna |
Brianna grins, not at all daunted by the three to one odds. However, she doesn't stab, rather she pushes the caster!
Bull Rush KP! It's Str vs Fort, and if I hit, I move him one square and shift into his. So, if I hit, I push him to BA31, giving him falling damage, and depending on which way the rock is going, maybe squishing him.
ghettowedge |
It turns out Kava has horrid aim when not relying on brute strength. Her stone rebounds off the rock wall, and she fails to free herself from the glue.
Meanwhile, Brianna puts a shoulder into the masked kobold. She gets the better of him, knocking him down, but not over the ledge.
The kobold is prone in BB30 and Brianna did not shift (see p. 284 of the PH if you have any questions). Now may be a good time for an action point...
An arrow flies from the tunnel into S2's back, and he falls from the wall.
Anmuspi's first arrow hits S2 for 8 points and S2 is dead.
Another arrow takes an ear off of S1.
Anmuspi hit S1 for 11 points, and S1 is bloodied.
The heavily armored kobolds look as if they're about to stop attacking and help the masked kobold up, until he curses at them. With so many kobolds around her, Brianna can do little to defend herself.
Both kobolds hit Brianna for a total of 11 points.
The boulder bounces and careens around the corner and right into Westman, who fails to jump out of the way.
Westman is hit for 9 points and is knocked prone. He is also knocked out of his square. Pick any empty square adjacent to the boulder to be in.
The other slinger throws a stone over A'loran's head before sliding down the ladder.
A'loran's turn.
Brianna, if you want to jump in with an action point to attack while WP is prone, that's ok since you didn't know he would be. You won't be able to use it to withdraw, though, since you weren't planning to before the attacks.

Brianna wrote:she doesn't stab, rather she pushes the caster!ROFL-I'd just like to say if you pull this off I'm buying the beers - AWESOME
Heh, I was looking at the map, realized the kobolds and I were all up above the ground, and checking out the PH saw that Bull Rush is an adjacent attack now, so figured I'd try it :) As for burning the AP, nah, I should checked the falling section, but gotta love how WotC says in Bull Rush one of the uses is pushing people off cliffs, and in the falling section gives a 55 percent chance to negate such an attack. GG Editing :)
A'loran Longstride |

A'loran points to where the slinger is "kava, one of the slingers just moved down behind these doors"
move to AY29 with diagonals on the wall if its safe to do without an athletics check
"Boulder is on the north side of my location heading west"
Upon seeing Bri. In Elven "Brianna get out of there I might be able to knock them out." In common "Sergeant Block, Brianna looks bad"
Target K2 with Force Orb. I would then like to ready to use an action point to ready a sleep at K1,K2 and KP if I can

Re: BULL RUSH
I know it's TOTALLY nerf. You could get pwned by the Hulk bull rushing you and still 55% to be hanging off the edge. It's not even useful for PCs as it's a save or die in most cases. I guess Frodo made his save and Golum didn't
PS: Goin Grabbing as an adjective is a Homer quote ;)
ghettowedge |
A'loran skips along the walls perimeter and throws an orb into the wall. And after yelling out in elven, he concentrates on the eastern ledge.
The drake flies over the pile of corpses towards Anmuspi. It flies further into the previous room after raking Anmuspi's head and arm.
Anmuspi is hit for 5 points of damage.
Block's turn, and I still need to know what square he landed in after being hit by the boulder.
ghettowedge |
The impact of the boulder sends Block forward, he manages to get to his feet and hustle back over the barricade.
The masked kobold rises to his feet and growls in draconic to his allies before turning to face A'loran. He opens his mouth and spews a blast of freezing air.
A'loran is hit for 13 points of damage, and A'loran is bloodied.
Up next are Kava, Brianna, and Anmuspi.
Prankster's Kava Argentine |
Kava struggles against her bonds some more praying to herself "Bahamut, help me get free. My friends need me." She dearly wishes to charge into the pack of bullies. Yelling "tilsin toni! xoal douta apzen mrith ve!!"
Divine Mettle on self (?). If successful move to AZ31 and slingstone at KP. Otherwise slingstone at KP anyway.

If I haven't already used my staff of defense encouter power I will use it on that attack
Anmuspi |
Spinning on his heel to follow the drake and seeing no one else near it, Anmuspi lines up two shots to try and bring it down.
Minor: Hunter's Quarry on Dragon
Standard: Twin shot (prime shot applies as no one else is near it) +7/+7 to hit, and 1d10+1+1d8/1d10+1 damage on the shots.
Is that Block next to me behind the kobold body fortification :)
ghettowedge |
With a shout Kava frees herself from the glue. She moves closer to the eastern ledge and further displays her lack of marksmanship.
Brianna slows down to catch her breath and appraise the situation. She's still very hurt and surrounded by enemies...
Anmuspi seems amused by the appearance of a dusty and bruised Sergeant Block, but he only shrugs and fires on the drake.
The second arrow hits for 11 points.
The armored kobolds continue about their grim work, laughing cruelly at her every gasp of pain.
K1 hits Brianna for 4 points and marks her, but K2 misses. Note, I counted the +2 to defense.
The boulder continues to roll, now passing within inches of Westman in the tunnel.
A'loran raises his staff just in time to ward off the icy breath weapon of the kobold. He is less quick to react to the sling stone that comes from below him.
S1 hits A'loran for 8 points.
It is A'loran's turn. Looks like that Action Point was wasted.

Yes, he takes one. PH 290. 'Ranged and Area powers provoke: If an enemy adjacent to you uses a ranged power or an area power, you can make an opportunity attack against him.' PH 271 Close Attack: A close attack is an area of effect that comes directly from you...' I get the OA. Might not do much, but I get it :)

Take a closer look at page 271. Close attacks and Area attacks are two different things. Pages 270-271 show the four attack types (melee, ranged, close, area) and give the traits of each in the shaded text. Close attacks have an "area of effect", but they are not Area attacks.

Yes, they are. First of all, close attack says that it is, futhermore, the only difference between Close Attack and Area Attack is the location of the origin square. In addition, the type of the 4 attacks that is used doesn't matter for the OA, it's the *power* type that matters. A ranged or area *power* triggers the OA. To put it in another way, if Brianna 'Sly Flourish'es with her dagger, there is no OA, if she does it with her hand crossbow adjacent to a foe, it becomes a ranged power, so she would draw one. In this case, the caster used a power that has a range past melee, he draws an OA, likely lives through it, and still gets the spell off.
ghettowedge |
A'loran, I did give you the cover bonus.
A magical dart flies straight down from A'loran's hand, and he curses and shakes his fist in frustration.
The drake dives at Anmuspi with outstrecthed claws. And though Anmuspi's armor takes the worst of it, the drake changes tactics and continues to hover next to Anmuspi.
Westman's turn.
Sgt. Westman Block |
"We need to regroup here at the barricade! They are dividing us!"
Block moves to adjacent to Anmuspi and attempts to distract the drake with his attacks.
Minor action: Draw longsword
Move to: AQ29.
Standard Action:
Wolf Pack Tactics
Target: D1
Special: Before you attack, you let one ally
adjacent to either you (Anmuspi) or the target
shift 1 square as a free action.
Attack: +7 (Strength) vs. AC
Hit: 1[d8] + 4 (Strength modifier) damage.
ghettowedge |
Westman approaches the drake and connects with his sword, not only making the drake screech in pain, but also distracting it.
Westman hits for 10 points, and Anmuspi may shift one square. The drake is bloodied.
The masked kobold begins returns his attention to Brianna, laughing as she barely avoids his spear thrust.
Kava, Brianna, and Anmuspi next.
Anybody else have trouble with the boards over the weekend? Every time I tried to post I got sent to a store is down page.
Prankster's Kava Argentine |
she thinks I don't care if she gets mad, I'm going to help Seeing her friend taunted Kava races to the stairs pulling out her gargantuan DragonHead Flail and swings it in a wide orbit, trailing Bahamuts white lite at Briana's foes.
"LEOR DOUTAN DE NEBEUR, *VILKLVI*"
minor-draw weapon; move-BB28 (or BB27 if I can't get there or would provoke from K1); standard-Paladins Judgement daily on K1 (surge on Bri of course)
ghettowedge |
Brianna and Anmuspi delay. I hope Amelia isn't upset about the rule disagreement.
K1 leans over the ledge and digs his short sword into Kava's shoulder.
Kava is hit for 6 points, and Kava is bloodied.
K2, still emboldened by his allies and flanking Brianna, finds another opening, spilling even more halfling blood.
Brianna is hit for 5 points.
The boulder finally comes to a rest in front of the doors of the central building.
The slinger inside hurls a rock that misses A'loran by inches.
A'loran's turn
Anmuspi |
Anmuspi was waiting to see what the situation with Brianna was -- if he needed to fire arrows at enemies beating on her or if she was going to get out of there. Seeing as the situation is unresolved and his hand is forced, he will shift to AR29 and then fire 2 arrows into the drake (changing the target of the 2nd one if the drake falls from the first).
Standard: Twin Strike (+6/+6) 1d10+1+1d8/1d10+1
ghettowedge |
Anmuspi, hearing the shouts from inside the room, hesitates in case he's needed. Finally, he starts towards the room, but stops, turns, and fells at the drake.
Anmuspi hits for 10 points and the drake is dead. There are no other visible targets from this position.
A'loran decides he can wait no longer and casts his spell.
The masked kobold is hit and slowed. K2 is hit and slowed. K1 is missed. Brianna is hit and slowed.
Westman's turn.
ghettowedge |
John, I have a double move getting you to AY24 because of the barricade and having to move around corners. Start at AQ29, AR29, AS28 (counts as two), AT28, AU27 (finish one move), AU26, AV25, AW24, AX24, AY24 (finish second move).
The masked kobold stabs at Brianna again, inflicting yet another wound on the halfling. He then shakes his limbs out and confidently waves Kava forward.
Brianna is hit for 1 point. KP makes his save vs. slow.
It's Kava's turn and then Brianna's turn comes around again, but I'll probably continue once I see Kava's post.
Prankster's Kava Argentine |
A rumbling growl comes from Kava as she grips her Divine flail. She advances up the steps and at the last instant swings a gleaming flail strike at the guard flanking Bri
Divine Str (+4 Dmg) - shift forward BB28 - Radiant Strike on K1
If Divine Str is a no go then Div.Challege K1
Sorry gang I'm moving and the phone co. has screwed the pooch on my ADSL
ghettowedge |
Sorry Kava, you already used Channel Divinity to make a save a while ago, so K1 is challenged. And don't worry about holding things up, I'm still worried about Brianna.
Kava goes further up the stairs and her flail glows with holy energy again. This time sparks fly as well as teeth as the flail smashes into K1's face.
Kava hit K1 for 16 points and K1 is bloodied.
Brianna is still delaying, jump in when you can.
K1 turns his attention to Kava, but without the threat of multiple kobolds, she dogdes easily.
K2 slashes Brianna across the belly and she falls to the ground. And then K2 falls to the ground.
Brianna is hit for 4 points and is unconscious. K2 is asleep.
I hoped our first near death experience wouldn't happen like this. I understand that real world stuff comes up and Amelia had been a reliable player. If she posts soon, I'll let her jump in before this happened.
S1 reminds A'loran that he's there with a rock to the head.
A'loran is hit for 6 points and A'loran is bloodied.
Anmuspi, A'loran, and Block are up.
Prankster |
Sorry Kava, you already used Channel Divinity to make a save a while ago, so K1 is challenged.
Thought that might be the case ... still no internet till the 4/11 th but i'll do my best internet cafeing it :)
thanks gang
ghettowedge |
Anmuspi crosses the blockade and moves until he can just make out a kobold. He makes his first arrow count, but the kobold ducks the second shot.
Anmuspi hits K1 for 13 points.
A'loran, kneeling atop the wall, fires off a spell, but misses as blood trickles into his eye.
Sgt. Westman Block |

Standard Action:
Furious Smash (At-Will; Martial, Weapon) Standard Action; Melee weapon
