So, now that we have some very rough guidelines for character creation (no evil, use the rules. Thanks guys, very helpful. ~_^) I thought it would be interesting to see what people are planning to play in the GenCon scenarios.

I'm going to be in the Taldorian faction, of course, but I'm still trying to decide if I want to retool my Child of Winter ecologist druid from Eberron for this, or go with a gnomish Cleric of Rovagug.

What are your ideas?!

I statted out the character I'm thinking of playing last night. Human fighter who uses a ranseur with improved disarm and combat reflexes. I'm leaning towards Andoran, but also considering Taldor.

Liberty's Edge 1/5

My character too will be Taldor-aligned.

I'm going with a Gnome Illusionist who likes to paint, worships Shelyn and carries a glaive (with a hair like tassel that makes it look like a large paintbrush).

You statted yours already? I didn't see any specifics on the blog post for the point buy (specifically how many points we get).

I think that's really clever! Sounds like he'd be fun to adventure with.

Well, the blog mentioned that it would be point buy similar to the Pathfinder rules, so I used that point buy method using the standard points (15). If they use a different method, or number of points, I'll tweak what I have, and since I use an excel based character sheet, if I change the scores around a bit then everything else will automatically update.

Only firm decision I've made is that my char will be very gnomey since...well...I can't play a gnome in LFR! :) Probably a gnome bard with a whip.

Only question, will the characters be converted next year when the PFRPG comes out and will be the new basis for the ampaign?

I asked this in another thread and the answer was "Every season = new characters"

Incorrect, per the seminar tonight. your character will nominally max out at level 12, but that's 36 adventrues

Someone should set up a Pathfinder Society wiki where people could upload their characters and char pics =p

Thalg SickEyes the Cripple

1st level Rogue

Thalg is Ulfen of the Ice Bear Tribe. His bloody birth ended his mother, thus he claimed his first life before he took his first breath. He was born with his left arm crippled. It remains palsied to this day. Thalg is an albino, with sickly yellowed pupils and stringly white hair. He is under nourished for a Ulfen and was derided by his people all his life. Not possessing their natural strength he learned to kill with the quick twist of a blade between the ribs and back others down with a cold glare from his creepy eyes. He carries his father's greatsword on his back, though he cannot wield it, and prefers the hand crossbow up his sleeve to any other weapon. He now serves Taldor, where his insidious talents earn him far more respect than they did among his brethren in the Land of the Linnorm Kings.

The above is a real quick glimpse of my official character for PFS. I played him at Origins in a playtest (Slot 0) of Frozen Fingers of Midnight run by none other than the author - Craig Shackleton himself. If you haven't signed up to play this one yet. DO IT. Damn fine adventure.

So, 19 point buy using the PRPG progression?

Thanks Nick! That was an awesome session!

After DMing for Nick, Erik, Jason, Josh and Chris, I think I can handle anything! ;-)

What an interesting array of twisted characters...

Well sussed out! It was 20 actually...but I didn't have my character in front of me when I typed the above. I may be off by a point on a stat somewhere.

"The Lord of the Dance" bard is going to be a rough-and-tumble,
fist-fighting, ale-swigging, Andoran bloke---the dance isn't something
he would have chosen, it's just something he can do. But when he takes
to his feet, every head in the bar stops to turn, and the dance's
lightning mix of movement and bravado pumps up his allies and pisses
off his enemies.

His mam made him take to the dance when he was young as a way of
keeping him out of trouble. He's got a busted nose and some scars on
his face and fists from all the inn-fighting he loves to do. The bard
is a human male named Canice Maloon, he's 6 ft and 166 lbs, has red
hair and green eyes.

Taldor -

"Yeah I know. I'm named after a country, big deal. My friends call me Tal anyway. If your not my friend we this here bastardsword might just have to cleave you in two. I wasn't born in Cheliax but let me tell you brother thats where my heart is at. Have you ever been there? well let me tell you something...."

I am Ralik. I am twice blessed by Zon-Kuthon, for I am honored to wield His weapon of judgement, the spike chain, and I serve the cause of Cleliax. Long live Her Infernal Majestrix, Queen Abrogail II, and long riegn the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune!

OOC: So the thought is a LN fighter who does the spike chain gig in the name of Zon-Kothune. Going to do combat reflexes and combat expetise with this to shower the game with a cunning strategic fighter.

I will not be playing Rilak at GenCon, as I will be judging, but if I can find a slot 0 in the CT/MA/NY/NJ area he will pop his head out there.

Silver Crusade

Although we won't be making in to GenCon we are working on concept for local cons and such for Society play.

The idea takes three people, two to play halfling animalistic barbarians with paired Klars and spiked armor lead on leather leashes, controlled by a cheliaxian caster, or a druid. They will have minimum Int are just as likely to chase a goblin as a butterfly for fun.

If it's the caster the concept is much darker, halflings bought as slaves then trained in gladiator pits. They are the new rage for chelaxian female spellcasters the more you have the higher the rank. Think of Paris Hilton and her dog.

If it's a druid the two halfling were being tortured by lumberjack and have been keep in cages and treated like dogs. They were used as entertainment in dog fights they battled dogs, goblins, and the rare wolf. They were rescued by the druid and he is trying to bring the back into society. He keeps them on leashes for their safety and the safety of the people around them.

Well, what do you think?

Scarab Sages

My group of friends traveling to GenCon are discussing doing a collective character concept of razmiren (sp?) devotees to the Living God; all looking and dressing the same in their acolyte white robes and iron masks, taking the first of our 31 steps. :-)

Spreaders of Sedition beware!!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing some of these characters at my table. :D

"Hello. Have you heard the Good News? Yes, there's good news for all of us.

Have you ever felt that this world was imperfect? That bad things happen to good people, and that evil is rewarded? Yes, we all have. And you know what? That's true. This is a world that has been made incorrectly. It is riddled with flaws. And yet the Gods allow it to persist. They seek only their own aggrandizement and to further their own survival at the expense of you and I, brothers and sisters, the mortal inhabitants of this flawed prison.

My people came from the First World. It, too, was imperfect. It was a mere hazy template, a sketch for this world. It should have been erased - but it wasn't. The Gods, once more, are to blame. They're like greedy children, unwilling to throw anything away, even when it is useless. There are no *souls* for the Gods in the First World, and yet still they cling to it.

Except, and this is the Good News, brothers and sisters, so listen with your hearts and your souls as well as your ears, except that there is one who sees these flaws, and who would wipe the slate clean so that there can be a fresh world, a better world. All he desires is to end our pain, our misery. But the Gods threw him into prison for trying to wipe clean the sketch of the First World, they bind him and torment him for seeking to end this world of misery so that a new, brighter world can be born. They call him a Beast. They name his followers Nihilists.

Whatever you call us, we seek the best for this world's people. We seek to end pain.

His name is Rovagug, and the Good News is that he's coming back. Rejoice, Brothers and Sisters! The Rough Beast Returns!"

-- From a speech by Seebo Murnig, Prophet of Rovagug

Hope to sit with at you at GenCon! :)

I lawled. :-)

As finances do not allow, I won't be making it to any GenCon events, but I do have an idea for playing a Chelish monk that follows Aroden (a cleric without the divine powers is what I'm going for). He wants to bring back the glory of Cheliax but without influence of Asmodeus or House Thrune at the head of the political landscape. Think that would make for an interesting character?

Interesting yes, though I generally prefer to play characters with attainable goals =p.

Such as the Release of Great Rovagug from his unjust imprisonment? Yes! Yes, brother/sister! Join us, and obtain that ultimate holocaust of freedom before this world is remade!

I love what PF has done with halflings, and assuming I can get into some PF Society games with generic tickets, I will definitely be playing one. The actual class, faction, and backstory are yet undecided.

Option 1) A young human wizard from Cheliax who got entangled in some bad business with a more powerful wizard. As punishment, he was somehow transformed into a halfling. He would either be a rogue or wizard depending on whether or not his arcane ability survived the punitive transformation.

Option 2) An escaped halfling slave from Cheliax who is still somewhat psychologically damaged. Normally he is quite brave and self-sufficient (thinking ranger or rogue for class, but when confronted by a Cheliaxian wizard he slips back into a more fearful, servile personality).

Thoughts?

Dark Archive

I've got a nice character concept, but he only works well in the PRPG rules:
CN Taldoran Male Forlorn Elf Cleric of Callistra. Charm and Trickery domains, decent int and cha, dumped con and str, massive dex and wis. Completely useless at melee damage, but uses a whip to trip and disarm. Wears a frockcoat/trenchcoat, ponytail, and very large boots. the Marquis de Carabas with a whip. A recovering sufferer from CBSD (compulseive back-stabbing disorder). Massive superiority complex, effete, and sophisticated.

Liberty's Edge

Brown skinned, grey eyed Zander Bismark spends his spare time teaching haughty Taldan nobles how to wield a blade. He is an up-right, forth-right, strangely noble schemer. He lusts for a return to greatness for his decadent empire. His discipline keeps his beliefs quiet, though he has let his guard down at times with his Pathfinder Society brethren that espouse similar goals and ideals.

"Give me a place to stand, and the right words to whisper, and I can change the world."

Born of an unlikely union, his father an Orc, his mother Osirion, he has all the traits his father (oddly) never did, swift reflexes coupled with brute strength, and great foolishness compounded by poor critical thinking.

He has been trained in the martial arts of Osirion, but remains wild, dedicating himself to the teachings of Pharasma as best he can, but only able to apply them to the one thing he truly excels at, fighting to stay alive in a hostile world. His training has allowed him, and those like him, to strike even from what must surely be somewhere beyond the grave.

He sees a clear role for himself in the return of the Pharoahs as an iron-fisted warrior once the reign of the true rulers of Absalom are returned to their rightful place. He is an instrument of their return, and no doubt a recipient of great rewards once he has ensured their success.

His own selection of methodologies not being ideal for the current desires of the leadership of his Faction he relies upon the fact that few would suspect a Half-Orc Barbarian Ox would ever be permitted to involve himself in the subtle machinations of Osirion. Hiding in plain sight as it were. He has no doubt they will come to understand the benefits of a direct approach once the time is right. And that time is surely come.

Arregus spent most of his life hiding with his family from the bloody mobs in Galt, dreaming of the day Taldor would reclaim that misguided and horrifying land and reinstate the surviving nobles. His father would pass the time by teaching him grand epic stories of the glory days of the empire. But the armies of Taldor never came.

Arregus, his sister, and his aging parents finally decided to flee that land for the safety of the empire. The escape went poorly and Arregus's sister was taken. The rest of the family hid in the Boarwood for days before crossing the Fog Peaks into the fertile valley near Yanmass. The mountain crossing nearly killed Arregus's father, and the welcome the family received in the old empire was underwhelming. After hearing the great epics, the true state of Taldor came as a shock to Arregus.

Inspired by tales of the past and years of his own confinement, Arregus has joined the Pathfinders to see the world. He prepares himself in the hopes that he will play some role in the reformation of Taldor and the restoration of its glory. And one day, perhaps, the Taldoran army will march into Galt, restore order there, and make the gutters run red with the blood of those murderers.

Not for Gen Con... But For Gen Con UK... Not the best writer in the world so any advice would be appreciated!

Gellius Ratarion

Gellius barely remembers his parents; his last memory was of them hiding him and his sister, Valeria, in their home. He remembers his father giving him the ring he always wore and telling them to stay hidden and quiet. His curiosity got the better of him though, he looked through the crack in the wall they were behind and he saw something that still brings nightmares to him to this day, beasts clothed from head to toe in imposing infernal armor. Then he heard screams and silence. He wanted to cry but his brave sister kept him silent.

Many years later he would learn that those infernal armored beasts were not beasts at all but Hellknights. He still does not know why they hunted and killed his parents. All he could learn from his sister was that his parents loved him and the ring given to him was the family crest and he should keep it.

He and his sister grew up in the slums of Westcrown barley eking out a living through begging and pick pocketing. Life was harsh but as long as he and his sister were together they would survive. That did not last. His sister, who grew into a beautiful young teenager was set upon by a slaver and taken away from him. He would never see her again but vowed he would find her and free her.

As he grew, his hatred for those in power of Cheliax grew to fervor. He was able to find other like minded young men and women who joined him in a gang to fight the depravity of the Chelish nobility. At first they did simple acts of thievery and vandalism, but soon they grew more daring, waylaying slaver caravans to free the slaves. Their exploits soon caught the eye of the Hellknights who ambushed them during a raid on a slaver caravan killing the gang to the man and woman except for himself who was able to escape.

With his life forfeit and a bounty on his head accusing him as a terrorist to the Empire, he fled Chelxia finally ending up in Absalom, there he met Captain Colson Maldris, who introduced him to the ideas of Andoran and to the Pathfinders. He joined the pathfinders soon afterwards in the hope to gain friendships and connections that will someday help him find and free his sister and to bring his rebellion back home.

I do have one question a Saber Saw is listed as medium unless you have exotic weapon proficiency then it it treated as light. Does that mean if you have the feat you can't use power attack but if you don't have it you can?

The sawtoothed saber is the signature weapon of a cult of assassins in the pathfinder world, Golarion. The exotic weapon prof is to let them use their Dex bonus to hit, via Weapon Finesse.

Not knowing how much the faction missions would conflict, and since I was going as a single player, I wanted to build somebody useful to maximize my survivability. I also made sure to speak all the human faction languages. Since the rules for loot said you had to find the items in order to claim them, I tried to optimize Search. Seraphina Neferneshmt is an elf rogue with 14 Int and the Tomb Raider feat, so at level 1 I could make DC 20 checks by taking 10. That was awesome. Now I just need to figure out how I can spare the feats for Investigator, Skill Focus, and Stay Death's Embrace.
