I await miniatures of these two. Very cool concept that I had not thought of...Gnome Druid...awesome.
Me too; I bodged one up (mounted and on foot) using 15mm Greek peltasts and Freki & Geri from the 1987 GW Space Wolves range.
I'll have to dig them out.It absolutely boggles belief, that after so many releases of D&D Minis, there are so many gaping holes in the available class/race options. These are D&D MINIS; they should be covering the options available in D&D.
But no, with each set we get another elf. With a bow. Whoop-a-dee-whoop. Because no-one has ever made one of those...

Thats assuming of course that its a fully grown adult snow leopard. As someone else mentioned earlier you could treat it as a younger one by knocking off some of its HD and abilities and gradually replace them till you get to lvl 4.
That's actually something I would love to see in Pathfinder/3.75 - rules for aging natural critters. Young critters let you get a cool animal companion that grows with your character, old critters let you bring out awesome monsters at lower levels. Just saying "knock off some HD" doesn't cut it - it's too handwavey for D&D.
And Feats for animal companions. Make having an Owl or a Beaver be as viable as a Wolf or Snow Leopard.

Wow. Another completely awesome iconic. You guys completely rock. I have an idea for a product I would love to see you guys make. How about a pathfinder chronicles iconic compilation? Essentially you would reproduce the art of each of the 12 iconics, along with a full backstory, and pregen stats for each at say 4 different levels (like 1, 6, 11, 16 or something) as well as introducing maybe one or two feats for each that represents the impact of their life experiences. I would buy something like this just to have all the iconic art in one place, not counting the actual game information.
Anyway, great job on Lini the Druid. I love the "fey" theme that she has, and it is a refreshing take on gnomes in my opinion. I think gnomes too often get archetyped as tinker gnomes or illusionists. Having one be a Druid is totally awesome. The second darkness is going to be a tough AP to pick the iconic I want to play. I already called dibs on Amiri, but now you have to go out and make Lini who is equally cool, and that doesn't even count Sajan or the mystery 12th iconic.
You guys completely rock!!

As a long time gnome aficionado, Lini is only what I would expect from a gnome PC - pure awesomesauce. I only have one complaint - where's her hat? Is her lack of pointy hat a sign of her estrangement from gnomish society? Did WAR just not get the art notes?
The pointy hats are more of a boy-gnome thing, really.
Girl gnomes are more about hair decorations. :)

Yay, my sister shows her face!
I see cuteness runs in the family. Cute... and deadly. One giggles like a schoolgirl and then turns herself into a dire bear to maul you, the other giggles like a schoolgirl and then turns her enemy into a pincushion for shuriken.
We'll do a backstory for Valeros. Eventually.
I guess you need another three dozen female characters he hit on the bottom and got hit back.
His back story will be a list of female characters and corresponding injuries.
Seoni - burnt fingers
Merisiel - several dagger wounds in every finger
Kyra - divinely retributed fingers
Lini - fingers nibbled off by various animals
Amiri - fingers broken (several places each)
Sajni - fingers tied to a knot
Seelah - smitten fingers
Nualia - fingers sacrificed to Lamashtu
Queen Ileosa - fingers poisoned than publicly hanged.
Zellara - fingers frozen by ghostly presence
Sabina - Fingers slapped (she thinks that cutting fingers off once is enough)
Mammy Grail - Uh.... my brain just ran away and hid before I could force it to think of anything. Sorry.
Delvahine - Great my brain just came back, and won't shut up about what the Succubus would do with Valeros. But I won't write any of it down. You'll have to be content with "energy drained fingers"
Many warriors collect scars as battle trophies. In the war of love, this is no different.
Perhaps a poor word choice, but I was responding to this part of the blog entry: "More than once, Lini's traveling companions or enclave..."
Very poor word choice.
Adventurers are the very antithesis of civilisation. You could say that by abandoning them (even to run in the woods), she embraces civilisation! ;-P
Yay! :D
OMG!!! :D
Yay! :D
I think we broke Mike. Is he still under warranty?

I guess they knew that they'd replace gnomes with tieflings, and knew it for years. That's why they didn't put gnomes into the minis line and insulted their customers and made fun of them before telling them why they left them out.

Another in the tradition of somewhat gimped iconics, Lini seems like she'll fit in with the band perfectly. And I had actual hopes for the iconics group this time, what with Amiri seeming an interest and yet still effective character build. No one's forcing you to use the pregen characters. The iconics are just that, icons, that will appear throughout the Pathfinder product line. If you don't think a gnome druid is effective, play something else. Playable or not, I think her backstory's pretty rockin'. Speaking of which, are we ever going to get a full writeup for Valeros? Seems he got introduced before the backstories started to become long and interesting.
What's there to say? He's the son of a farmer, trained as a warrior, became a mercenary. I personally like that, in the midst of all these drama queens, there's somebody who's... normal.

That's as worn out as renegade dark elf rangers with astral panthers and scimitars akimbo.
Plus, I wonder how a farmer's son gets warrior treatment. Irate sheep? ;-P

Or, before standing armies were common, they were pressed into service by their lords to serve as untrained foot soldiers. "Grab up your shovel, lads, and go beat on those other farmers over there also armed with shovels. For the king! Huzzah! And stuff."

Gnomes actually make pretty good druids. [...]
As for her hair, yup. Our gnomes are fey; and one way that manifests is in their skin and hair colors. Gnome hair is all over the place, and can be of colors you see in nature, from the green of fresh grass to the reds and purples of wildflowers to the brown or gray of stones. Skin tone is similarly wide-ranging, although not quite as wild.
Since halflings appear to have the anime-eye, and elves deservedly have this cool, black, 1000-meter stare into depths of time beyond the understanding of man, what about gnome eyes? Can we have a kaleidoscopic effect? Please? How about every gnome iris has a main color and mandatory sparkles, flecks or twinkles of another?
And maybe nictating membranes or snake-eyes for the half-orcs?

All these posts and no one's mentioned yet that her animal companion's name is a joke. "Droogami"? "Friend-friend"? I lol'ed.
More seriously, I like the gnome design.

With the mention of a Baba Yaga equivalent east of the Land of the Linnorn Kings, I expect we'll see more Russian. I would have liked to see the second part be Suomi, instead of Latinate, though.

I could explain the reasoning in character, but that'd take a few hours and result in a 5,000 word post.
How about a brief piece on who she's trying to hex with those voodoo dolls on her belt, then?

Ah, gnomes and their good intentions. I should have guessed; they try so hard.

Where'd you find that quote? It doesn't apear anywhere in the thread that I can see. And yes, Droogami is totally a joke. I'm glad someone picked up on that. ^_^

I read that wrong the first time i read it and had to blink a few times, glad it was just me reading it wrong. Cause it was creepy.
As for the real topic, I can say Paizo has finally made gnomes i not only don't utterly hate and loath and cheap knockoff dwarves with weird illusion flavoring but as what I also thought they should be. Fey close cusion to elves. The hair is a bit odd but I can deal with it. The art and info about gnomes actually has inspired me to use them in my game. Which is huge since normally my group always votes to punt them out of the games and replace them with something interesting.
Great artwork as always, still hopping and counting down the non timer for a gallery art collection from the paizo books and images already in the blog ect. :)

It is good to see all the love for gnomes in this thread. I like the backstory and how it integrates the animal companion. It would be nice if the small and medium animal companions from levels 1 and 4 scaled up a bit better to still be useful later in the game.
I also agree with the idea that it might be nice if not every druid had to start wildshaping at 5th level. It is a strong power, but it doesn't match well with some character concepts. I could see a mounted druid being really cool for instance. Maybe instead of wildshape you could get a choice of some powers including bonuses that work with your animal companion.

A great series. She is absolutely one of the best space/fantasy opera writers around. I just could not put it down.

True Fact...
Chuck Norris was once a Gnome, he adjusted his size because he knew humans could not handle the small sized awesomesauce.
His gnome sized roundhouse kicks provoke no AoO's as opportunities never work against him. He is the creator of opportunities and he hands them out by the millions behind the scenes. Every AoO that has happened in your game, happened by the grace of Chuck.

I would say "God bless you Chuck Norris," but it's probably Chuck Norris who does the blessing around here...

KaeYoss |

Of course.
A roundhouse kick instantly slays 1d4 Tarrasques (no safe).
You know why there's only one Tarrasque? Chuck Norris got bored for an hour and hunted them all down. He let the one live so it could be his lapdog once it grows up.
He can also tumble in heavy armour.
I hear he once took a couple levels of monk, then went to take some levels in other classes, and then went back and took some more levels of monk.
He can wield earthbreakers with weapon finesse.
