To Lord Kerrigan:
"My Lord, I am again speechless by your generosity. Rest assured when our mission is complete, I will return to aid your defense."
To Sir Ovirid:
"I would choose the Shortsword for myself; but for you, I might choose a number of Throwing Axes. They may be used in both melee and at range, and give up nothing in damage to the Hand Axe."
While on the way upriver, Sir Manfred eagerly points out landmarks and comments on the events that happened last time they came this way, despite the fact the others were with him then as well.

With a gentle giggle Yin holds the pelt to herself and smiles up at Darby with a hint of mischief in her eyes. "Thank you" She responds brightly, looking from the manservant to Kerrigan himself with a broad grin.
Eager to get moving Yin hops up and heads off to pack once more, only pausing in her preperations to take a moment to give Falcon a tight hug goodbye.
As the group leaves Yin can't help but be excited, joining in Manfred's recounting of past events although her mood occasionally subdues at mention of Kamris, clearly missing the company of the other Shoanti, her former grounding influence.

The thirty-year old barge that Klyndak, Hru, Rellios, and the Kannonfodders found some well-preserved dwarven ale on now sits slightly above ground. A cursory visual examination does not reveal anything of interest.
An hour or so gentle ride beyond that you reach the waterfall. Hearing a bugbear cry out from the cliffs the Boneheads once inhabited above sends a chill down your spine until you recognize it as the friendly greeting of 'Quarrel' the bugbear ranger that thinks Orlan and Klyndak are 'Beetlerajahs', his pronunciation of 'Battlerager'.
"Hoooorooohooo!" he calls out in a cheerful voice. Gesturing for you to climb the slope he shouts. "More come! Welcome! Up come!".
Then he notices that you are mounted and begins to lower the pulley that the Bonehead clan used to raise and lower canoes. Getting your mounts in there will be hard work, but it will allow you to ride all the way to the Keep.
Feel free to add actions in and I will retcon as necessary.

Ovirid Thorvirson |

Manfred, I concur with your suggestion. He's already carrying two, so...
"Lad, yer a genius! Ah jes' need t' be usin' me axes! Ah 'ate t' part wit' me pick, anyway."
Ovirid listens closely as the tales of the previous trip are recounted. He carries his crossbow with a bolt, ready to loaded, unless traveling prevents it.

Sir Manfred lends a hand to getting the horses up the cliff face, calming them on the way.
"Sir Ovirid, only two? No, no; you must carry six, or even eight! When you hurl your axes you must always have a spare! Perhaps you could learn to juggle them to inimidate your enemies?"
Too bad this isn't GURPS, picks are deadly there; Swing damage plus double anything that gets through armor...

Speaking of our character sheets, are we healed back to full? Healed up one nights' rest? Just curious -- I wasn't quite unscathed in our orc encounter.

I was thinking about that - trying to maximize my sneak attack, I'm unlikely to get anything from it via ranged combat except during a surprise round. After that, I'm less likely to be flinging them anywhere. I need to check my funds and see what I've got, too. If Tarren's cool with it, I will retcon a trip to the armorer.

"Lass, Ah 'ppreciate yer generosity. 'r ye sure yer not fer needin' on o' those rings? Ah'm not a fan o' 'eights, so Ah'll take it if'n ye insist, but Ah'm fer thinkin' 'ladies first' 'n all 'at." Despite his protests, Ovirid will gratefully accept one of the rings.

Before leaving the keep, Ovirid drops by the weaponsmith to see if he has a couple of throwing axes for sale.
Of course he does. The Keep has anything on the PHB equipment lists that isn't masterwork. If you wanted masterwork, you'll have to cozy up to the King or wait for it to be made.

Sold! (I'm a little muddled about the cash at the moment, so I don't know if I can afford the masterwork, anyway.)

You all take the magic rings, I already got a magic sword from the deal.
Yin refuses the ring outright, prefering the idea of Manfred having it, it's hard to grab ledges when falling when decked out in lots of armour. If needs be she'll threaten to just throw it in the river if he doesn't take it. (because she's mature like that)

Hehehe. And the orcs evil plan of dividing and conquering the party begins to work ...

Quarrel announces he is going up to talk to the beetlerajahs about something. If you follow him, pop into the foray thread here.

Sir Manfred quickly remounts his horse, Trouble.
"Of course, Good Quarrel! Come MiLady Yin, come Sir Ovirid! I wish to see how MiLord Klyndak has fared these few months since he claimed his patrimony. On Trouble!" He poses briefly as he gets Trouble to rear, before he gallops after the bugbear.
