As for faggots - a noble British delicacy. Unfortunately, they don't taste very nice.

EDIT: Ha! Obviously Gary doesn't like them much either.

The Exchange

Only slightly pervy, Aubrey?

Happy Birthday Heathy. 29? I had you down for much older, more like 31....

Cheers

At least the kids are calling you "sir", Heathy. I get "old Man" or "M%^&^r F67r" Happy Birthday.

Sorry mate, crazy weekend, not much internet time. On top of everything else I had doing, gotta love running into a hot ex girlfriend who if anything is looking even hotter now, but who still hates you over the breakup ... and then try to explain to the current SO why you keep staring at her all night and where the hostility is coming from ... good times.

Bummer.....kinda rough birthday/last couplea days myself...

I'll plap something up in the next hr. or so I guess; get my ass in gear whatnot.

Everything all right man? Hoping its just general life / work things, nothing more serious.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah; just lotsa work, man.
I ended up giving up the birthday day off I had up, then taking call for somebody, and I'm just kinda tuckered.

Bummer Heathy, hopefully you can make up for it with all that extra money and give yourself a nice dinner out, OR at least the wife can bring you a Doggie Bag!! ;)

Moth, your evenings out sound SO much more interesting than mine! ;)

Sounds like you played it all wrong. I saw a hot ex, and told her that the reason she was having relationship problems was because she wasn't a very nice person. I was telling her as a friend, obviously... Well, it helped me, anyway.

We basically need Oso to cast Align weapon on Beldan's rapier before we can attack the rakshasa. Unless the woodpeckers next door some and pay us a visit, should we just move to the next round?

Suggested sequencing: Oso casts his spell, Gittik yanks open the iron maiden, then Beldan stabs it full of holes and I hit it with my fire wand. Thoughts?

The Exchange

I feel like death warmed up, my son and his infectious school have alot to answer to this week. Try to keep up with the posting but Oso will basically do as asked until I stop whinging.

Sorry chaps.

Ideally Beldan should try to flank her with someone to get sneak attack damage too - he may overcome DR with a holy rapier, but he won't be doing much damage otherwise (unless they take additional damage from such weapons).

Absolutely. And, no, they just shrug off eveything else... Rakshasas are nasty.

We went and saw Alice In Wonderland (in 3D! Wohooo!) today. Excellent movie, well worth a visit - some jackass brought no fewer than three little tots who cried or screamed throughout most of the film, and I still enjoyed myself!

It wasn't me; I was asleep *goik*

Gittik's plummet just inspired a thread about fly and incapacitation; I brought it up in a "problems with Pathfinder" thread.

Think that from now on, a flying character who is incapacitated might just erzatz featherfall instead of plummeting.

Makes sense - that's what happens if your Fly spell runs out while you're airborne.

Anyone here tech savvy when it comes to computers, viruses, malware, that sort of thing? I followed a link here on Paizo last night and somehow this fake virus scan software – ‘XP Internet Security’ got downloaded onto my computer, can’t get rid of it. Can’t get onto the internet without it redirecting me to the software homepage so that I can ‘purchase the full version!’ to rid my computer of all the nasty malware that’s been installed.

The really annoying thing is that my McAfee Security Centre subscription did nothing to pick this up or block it, and can’t seem to find anything wrong with my computer when I run a scan. It looks like I’m going to have to buy some other sort of malware removal program, which is quite frustrating.

I use Spybot Search & Destroy, which seems effective (as far as I can tell) and free. You also might want to consider installing Spywareblaster, which blocks programs like that loading on to your computer. That said, I'm hardly tech savvy but these are what I use. You can get them at filehippo.com.

gotta piss off; take th' family out to dinner....back in a couplea hours.

Bought 4e phb at halfprice books, in contemplation of picking up Dark Sun 4e when it comes out. The temptation was too much.

I have two computers - one stationary and one laptop. The laptop has a free antivirus called Avast! that my tech-savvy brother recommended. The PC has another free program called Avira, that the techie recommended. I've been very happy with both.

For spyware elimination, Talonsoft's Ad-Aware package is really good. Finally, I have something called Zone Alarm, which stops unauthorised programs from accessing the internet. Both of those are free, too.

I use AVG free.

And spybot S&D for malware.

Between the two I'm fine.

I was never a huge fan of Dark Sun. However, I can't turn down the promise of one more Aubrey campaign.

So... how much is the 4E rulebook?

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

I don't actually know that much about Dark Sun myself, so it will be a purely 4e view of it, plus I'll need time to read the book and think about it. But it would be might cool - in-house, invitation-only.

I kneel before your 4E evil.

...

Actually I just finished reading the Prism Pentad (a series of 5 Dark Sun novels, recently reprinted). It was my first fan-fiction since I was a kid and read Star Trek and Doctor Who novels.

Twas not bad all in all, and a better setting for unadulterated violence and twistedness there may never be.

It's not out yet; I think Aug or Sept.

I'm using the time to get the three core at half priced books...
then I'll pounce.
I definitely want to run one as well.
Will play in Aub's as well if that's happening.

The Exchange

Ah, well if you are running one I'd probably play in that instead. Three PbPs would be a heavy burden, and you will have a better understanding of the setting anyway.

I think the books for Dark Sun are out July/August time if memory serves.

Ooo, I might get that. Twisted violence? Hmm, maybe I will run one too. Actually, I'd like to run a 4e campaign here anyway, but probably only if sufficient of you guys were interested.

Heath or Aubrey running something is probably about the only way I’m likely going to play 4E! Not sure about buying the books though, is there a decent (free) SRD or something about for it?

My Darksun experience is fairly limited, played one or two adventures back in the day (2e) but the DM at the time kind of turned me off the setting. The fact that so many people love the setting suggests to me I was probably missing something.

I don't know if there's an SRD. I thought they were getting away from that...

RE: pissed off; it's kinda a bleak setting....like, one really nice metal weapon and you've made it. Have to kinda scrap for the basics; fight elves for access to their oasis and whatnot.
Cannibal halflings....Gittik'd fit right in.

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

In order to play 4e all you really need is the PHB. You need more to DM, but only the PHB is necessary to play.

There isn't an SRD as far as I am aware. Instead they have DDI, but it is a subscription service. But you get a character generator, a monster programme with all the monsters ever published by WotC, and access to the online Rules Compendium (though I have never used that). It's a good deal if you expect to play 4e a lot.
