1) I will most likely buy the first three books and possibly convert. We play twogames and the other DM is nearly possitive he'll convert.

2) If Paizo converts that will tip me from possibly to definitely.

3) If Paizo doesn't convert, then for the game I run I'll continue to play 3.5.

*edit* I don't think the edition will effect what I buy from Paizo

I still dunno if I'm gonna change or not. Ultimately my decision is based on what the majority of my group wants to play.
And we won't know what that is till after the game's come out.
I'll keep up the Pathfinder subscription regardless. I can always convert stuff on the fly if it comes to that.

1. I am converting. I will be buying the 4E corebooks on release, and once my ROTRL campaign wraps up, my next campaign will use 4th edition.

2. If you convert to 4th, I will continue my pathfinder sub and re-subscribe to Gamemastery modules once they are 4E.

3. If you don't convert, I'll cancel my Pathfinder subscription, most likely at the end of Crimson Throne.

Frankly, I'd rather buy adventures from you than from WOTC; you just do a better job all-around, so I'm hoping you make the jump. At one point I was convinced I'd stay subscribed either way, but I honestly don't have the time to adapt material myself no matter how well written it is...

We'll most likely be converting once my current Age of Worms games finishes, though that's some ways off. We'll be picking up the books and trying out the new rules on the side; there's a possibility we might convert Age of Worms to 4e depending on how bogged down we get in the high levels.

To address points 2 and 3 together, I suspect I'll continue picking up Pathfinder in either event at least through the Second Darkness path. After that, it remains to be seen, and will be based in part on how much work it looks like to convert them to 4e. Supplemental materials, I'm more likely to pass on as long as they remain 3e. That'll vary based on the crunch-to-fluff ratio of the books and how much individual items appeal to me, of course, but I expect I'd end up canceling my Pathfinder Chronicles at some unspecified point and just pick up individual supplements ala carte.

As things stand, I hope to convert Curse of the Crimson Throne as our first extended 4th edition game. But I suspect the adventure paths would be more likely to benefit from going 4e, so as to to be better tailored to Heroic / Paragon / Epic assumptions.

Scarab Sages

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?
I will certainly look into/probably buy the books, and should the system conform to the expectations I hope D&D is living up to, then yes. Otherwise, no.

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?
I will continue to produce Paizo products regardless of edition. Paizo has quality products, and I do not believe that will change with editions.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?
Again, Paizo has quality products, and since that is unlikely to change, I'll continue to buy.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 8

1. Yes, I probably will convert.

2. My purchasing habits are not likely to change if you switch to 4th edition even if I ended up staying with 3.5.

3. My purchasing habits are not likely to change if you stay with 3.5. I do not think that my enjoyment of your world and adventures will be edition specific.

I've seen enough strange things to never say never, but extremely unlikely to convert to 4E.

Almost certainly wouldn't purchase Paizo 4E material if I didn't convert.

Would continue to buy 3.5 materials from Paizo.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

1) Yes, I will convert.

2) If Paizo converts, I will continue to subscribe to Paizo's products. WOTC designs good rules, but Paizo's got the best adventures by far.

3) If Paizo does not convert, I seriously doubt that I would want to buy and self-convert many of Paizo's future products. I'd probably buy a couple here and there that had really good buzz, but I'd certainly end my subscriptions.

Scarab Sages

1) No, not in the near future
2) Probably not. I'd have to cancel my subscription which I would do reluctantly.
3) Yes, although I can't say that it would cause additional purchases but I would continue my subscription.

The Exchange

1) I will not be converting to 4e.
2) I will not purchase products designed for 4e and likely will not shop at paizo.com.
3) If Pazio does not convert to 4e, I will happily continue my Pathfinder, Pathfinder Chronicles, Gamemastery and Planet Stories subscriptions. I will also continue to make other rpg purchases at paizo.com.

Erik Mona wrote:

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?

What I have read so far inspires me to convert to the new edition. That said, however, I reserve judgement until the books actually come out. For certain, the D&D Experience will allow more information and reviews to come out which might confirm my leanings. Another factor to weight in is my finances which are rather tight right now. I do not yet know if I will have enough money to convert.

Erik Mona wrote:

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

The answer to these questions is the same. I have not purchased many products from Paizo since Dungeon Magazine ended. Dungeon was my primary source of adventures. I used them for running everything from campaings to one shots. It WAS the best deal out there for adventures. The move to Pathfinder was not for me and I chose not to subscribe, although I do recognize the quality of the writing from what I have seen. Furthermore, my finances have become to tight to drop the money for Pathfinder. Will a conversion to 4.0 or remaining with 3.5 change my outlook. Not realy. If I stick with 3.5, I can work with conversion from 4.0 and vice-versa. I will continue to follow what is being developed by Paizo and I will purchase what I need on a ad-hoc basis.

Thanks for asking Erik.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

1) I do not plan on converting. If my current group wants to try it next year, I'd probably play it, but not interested right now based on the preview material. They're big into Eberron, so the way that CS blows is likely how they'll follow.

2) If Paizo converts, I would be more likely to look into 4e, as if you all think it's a good game it must be! I would be likely to continue buying Pathfinder and Gamemastery products for idea-mining, but that's not set in stone - definitely keep my precious Planet Stories subscription no matter what.

3) If Paizo does not convert, I'm happy as a clam as I will be able to continue chucking my gaming dollars to you. Since last summer, I have bought more Green Ronin stuff than before, my Paizo subscriptions and a couple of GM modules, and the Elder Evils (through your site) book. If I can continue to get good product from you, why go to the competition?

I'm REALLY excited about Golarion - my old group has 2 homebrews, but when we finally get together again I'm going to push for retiring both and going for Golarion all the way! The monster book, the campaign guide, all of that I'm very much looking forward to, and would buy at any edition for the lore (but I hope it's 3.5/OGL at least in 2008).

1) Not in the foreseeable future, and not ever unless there is surprisingly positive response after release.

2) This is the only thing that would seriously make me consider converting, but unless there is an overwhelmingly positive response to the new mechanics, I would probably discontinue my subscription.

3) This would be very welcome news indeed. Paizo makes the only game-related products that I am willing to spend money on.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

1) I will run 4.0 for organized play as I enjoy DMing for a large group of people and enjoy growing the hobby.

2) My home game will continue to be 3.5. If you go to 4.0, I will purchase less product.

3) If you keep your products 3.5, I think you will be staking out a niche in the market. I will purchase your products with the same frequency I do now.

1) I will convert to 4E as me and my players don't have much fun with 3.5E any longer (and are playing WFRP instead)... But I've just purchase and read the Book of Experimental Might and I'm really impress by the the various options covering most of our "problems" with 3.5E... And, if 4E is not as good as expected, I will probably use True20 for my DnD games.
2) and 3) As Paizo don't produce rulebook but adventures of excellent quality, I don't see why I should change my purchasing habits (buying pathfinder and most gamemastery adventures)... My only concern is the price compare to dungeons magazine... I just realize that it cost me twice the amount for less adventures... And I still don't understand why you can't offer a PDF only subscription or why I have to wait 3 weeks to buy a pdf after is print-edition release ... This is a strange behavior compare to others publishers like Green Ronin who offer their PDF a few weeks before print-edition release...
Also, if paizo freelancers write 4E module for the big evil WOC (a high probablility), I will probably change my purchase habit and eventualy buy exclusively for 4E if you stay with 3.5E...

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D? No

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products? Any product exclusively designed for 4.0 is likely to be useless to me. If it is really, really good I may buy it and convert it but that would be rare.

Now, if you design a product compatible for both 4.0 and either 3.5 or True 20 then I would consider it. I am not anti-4.0 just pro-Other systems.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

See answer to #2.

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?

No. Even if 4th Edition is a good set of rules I'm sticking with 3.5 for some time to come. Reasons: My players are casual players comfortable with 3.5 and don't want to switch; I enjoy 3.5 and I'm the DM; I have quite a bit of 3.5 material I'd like to explore before upgrading versions.

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

Paizo would be the only reason I'd seriously considering converting. However, it will likely mean that I'll drop all purchases regarding 4th Edition D&D and will only buy version "immune" products.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

I will keep my subscriptions and continue buying from Paizo for the foreseeable future (minimum of 2 or 3 years and much more if Paizo continues to put out quality products).

1) I've got at least a year of 3.5 material that I want to play through. I might convert as a player, but continue to DM 3.5 and d20 products until sometime in mid 2009. I'm also planning to wait until at least one set of rules errata is published.

2) If Paizo converts, I'll still buy GM support items but not modules.

3) If Paizo doesn't convert, I'll still buy GM support items and maybe some sale items using 3.5.

In general I like Paizo's "one stop shopping" mentality. I can gets tons of stuff I wouldn't find in one place like I can here.

Thanks for asking your audience!

QFT

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?
I'm still undecided, leaning towards 'no'. If I do, it will be six to twelve months after 4.0's release before switching. I just have too much 3.5 material that I would like to use.

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?
For me, the biggest nudge towards 4.0 would be if Paizo went that way. I expect my Paizo purchasing will stay the same or increase no matter what edition you choose.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?
For me its not so much about the rules set as it is about the content, and Paizo has continued to provide that for me. Again: I think its safe to say my Paizo purchasing will stay the same or increase no matter what edition you use.

1) Yes.

2) I'll buy more of your products.

3) I probably wouldn't buy any, unfortunately.

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?
Nope. Too attached to 3.5 and all of its wonderful quirks, variations, and supplemental products.

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?
Less purchasing of Game Mastery modules. I would probably continue with Pathfinder just for the fluff.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?
Increase my purchases as I show my support for your decision with extra spending!

1) Most likely not.
2) Undecided.
3) I would love this.

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?

I will likely review the rules, and playtest it, but not exclusively, nor will I put any real effort into moving my 3.5 products to it.

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

I cannot sanction moving away from the OGL towards a more restrictive licensing structure in good conscience. Therefore, I would likely halt my subscriptions, which is a shame.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

I would continue to subscribe, and might possibly pick up a second subscription for the Game Mastery line.

Hi all,

1. I plan to convert and have already pre-ordered the boxed set of all three 4E books. If they don't work I still have the D&D Cyclopedia. :)
2. I would support Paizo going to 4E and I suspect the market trend will turn that way once we gamers get our sticky mitts on the actual books and not just rumours of the books.
3. I would probably keep one subscription going in support of Paizo but lose interest in other lines. However I would buy system neutral supplements (guides to the gods of Golorian etc.)

Cheers all.

1) Not immediately. No one in my game groups is interested. But they are a fickle lot. I may play both editions for a while.

2) If you convert, I am likely to convert too.

3) If you don't convert, I will likely stick with 3.5 for a while, maybe running one 3.5 game and one 4.0 game.

I will subscribe to Pathfinder regardless of what happens, because I think it is rich, imaginative stuff.

I suspect I'll have a better idea after feedback from D&D Experience. OTOH, I suspect many who are going, are doing so because they want to try 4th edition, and being fanboys will love it unconditionally.

1) I'll definitely buy the core books and I suspect that I'll convert. But of course that will ultimately depend on what my assessment of the core books tells me.

2) I'll be much more likely to buy Paizo products, assuming I convert.

3) I almost certainly won't be buying more stuff anytime soon. Even if I didn't switch over, I've got too much 3.5 material already.

Erik Mona wrote:

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?

In all likelihood, yes if only for the promise of more vibrant combat.

I may be in the minority to say this - most of my recent D&D experience is actually DDM and I think the minis game highlights 3E's shortcoming more than the RPG. Good roleplaying allows alot of clunky rules to be swept under the table. But when the game is the rules, you really see how out of wack the rules are.

Erik Mona wrote:

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

I will probably continue to buy your stuff either way. If you convert right off the bat, great. If not, from the 4E statblocks I have seen, it will not take much effort to convert encounters.

Paizo's products are often worth the cover price for the stories and creativity that goes into them. I never run an adventure according to script anyway, so I expect to re-stat most of the encounters to make an appropriate challenge for my group.

1) I will certainly buy at least the core books. Not sure if I will buy more after that.

2) If I dislike the "official" campaign world (which my gut says I will), having a good 4.0 Paizo world would be nice.

3) If Paizo stays 3.X, I may borrow a few ideas from 4.0, but I'll mostly play 3.5.

In other words, I will continue buying Paizo products for the foreseeable future, regardless of edition. [Hell, I read more than I play anyway. By the time my kid is old enough to try we'll be on version 5 or 6!]

You know, WotC should really be courting you guys a lot more. Seems like for a lot of us, Paizo's reaction is going to make or break 4.0.

Erik Mona wrote:

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?

Not immediately, I still have a lot of 3.5 stuff I want to play through, but once that's finished I may have a look at 4th (or 4.5).

Erik Mona wrote:
2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

If I'm still playing 3.5 and Paizo switches to 4th (and as I said I don't plan on immediately switching to 4th) then I'd have to use for most of those products and thus I'd likely stop buying. I'm sure Paizo will continue to publish and produce rules neutral products that I'd buy (like some of your game mastery products).

Erik Mona wrote:

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?

It means I still have a 3.5 supplier for adventures and settings. It means I might not have to look to 4th edition if I want to continue gaming for that much longer. Keep in mind though, if in three years I discover that 4th ed. is the revolution that it's designers claim it too be (which seems doubtful . . . it might be good but I doubt it will really be that much better then 3.5) I'd likely eventually switch over.

If I had the choice I'd love to buy from a company that had the ability to stay flexible . . . perhaps offering adventures in 3.5 or 4th as the customer needed. I realize that's probably not an option but that's what I as a consumer would love.

1) I will not be converting because I have 3.0 and 3.5 material to last me a long, long time. My group just doesn't get the chance to play as often as we'd like. I'm sure 4th edition will be a great product, but my group and I are just beginning to get the benefit of the various supplements and handbooks that we have purchased.

2) My purchases will fall dramatically if Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0. I will not purchase 4.0 material with very few exceptions (i.e., anything having to do with Greyhawk). Whether Dungeon, Dragon, or Pathfinder, I've always enjoyed seeing what Paizo does within the rules and concepts of the game I'm playing.

3) I will likely continue my Pathfinder subscription, and (finances permitting) purchase Pathfinder related items so long as the products remain linked to the rules with which my group plays (3.5). Despite having so much material already, I'm always looking forward to the new ideas Paizo provides. If I need to flesh out high-level orcs to populate Garel-Enkdal (as I'm DM'ing Five Shall Be One these past few month) - I just look at Dungeon 118. When I need the 3.5 statistics for a Greater Boneheart wizard, I might just borrow a Runelord (slightly altered, of course).

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products? Liberty's Edge

1: No, I will look at it, but I will steal any good ideas for my 3.5 game. My home setting it too dependant on the options that 3.5 brings to the table and it will be almost 2 years before 4E even covers Psionics.

2: I would cancel my subscription to Pathfinder, personally I would suggest that if Paizo does go 4E that you make it a new subscription. (Save wear and tear on Cosmo)
I would most likely not buy any more adventures, from what I have seen of 4E, I don't think they would be worth it considering just how much conversion would be involved. It is almost like buying and "unfinished" product from a 3.5 Point of View.
I might continue to buy Pathfinder, but it would be on a book by book decision.

3: I would keep my Pathfiner Subscription and continue to buy Gamemastery adventures.

1) No I havn't been happy with alot of the things WotC is doing.

2) If Paizo switches to 4E then I will buy no further products, or at least anything relating to 4E.

1) unlikely to convert like 3.5 too much

2) No, I'll still buy but only those that provide enough fluff for me to use in my games - which at them moment is everything but may change later.

3) Would buy eveything produced as Glorion just became my campaign world for the forseeable future.

1) At this point I plan to run 4e games barring any unforeseen issues. If I don't move towards 4e I will continue to run my fantasy games using Mutants and Masterminds.

3) I'm currently in the process of selling off my 3e collection. I might still buy some game neutral stuff and Planet Stories novels, but otherwise my purchases will be nil.

1) Yes, I plan to convent to 4th Edition.

2) I jumped on the Paizo bandwagon late, so I'm actually waiting until 4E begins to start purchasing Paizo Pathfinder and GameMastery products. I hope to run my home game using a Pathfinder world.

3) I'll have no need to purchase anything more 3.5, but there are a few modules I think I'll have to pick up just because of the coolness factor. Entombed with the Pharaohs would be at the top of that list.

Scarab Sages

1- i will not be converting.

2- This is tricky. I love your products and the quality of the writing, but continuing to purchase products on a subscription basis for a system I don't play is hard to support. Thus, my Pathfinder sub would be questionable, but I can say with certainty my purchase of Gamemastery and other products would cease altogether.

3- I would keep my current subscription and seriously consider adding Gamemastery as well. Anything I could do to support a company that supports my preference would have to be considered.

Personally, I am a huge Paizo fan. I find that your design sensibilities match mine to a high degree. I wish you all the greatest of luck regardless of what ends up happening in the end.

1) Nope, I'm sticking with 3.5 plus houserules. Never had a better D&D game.

2) I have no doubt that most of Paizo products would still be useful to me even if I'd play another edition of the game. However, I would probably cut back on my purchases, because I wouldn't get the same amount of use from Paizo products, compared to 'now'. Also, to reflect the fact that I'd have to do a lot of annoying conversion work (if a conversion is possible at all; at the moment I'm guessing it's more like a partial rewriting of the adventure in question :( ... ).

3) If Paizo is staying with 3.5E, I am fully planning on restarting my Gamemastery subscription to support your efforts in any way I can. All other subscriptions stay in, of course.

I plan on converting.

If Paizo does 4E products, I will buy those that I interest me most (such as adventure paths).

If Paizo does not convert, it will entirely depend on what you push out, how hard it is to convert, and money.

1) I'm still officially neutral, but it isn't looking like it at this time, no. Very little I've heard interests me re: 4e.

2) If Paizo converts to 4e, it would likely negatively affect my purchasing habits with Paizo as far as any product that contains mechanics goes. Keeping conversions or dual-statted products would be a pain for you, I'm sure, but would help me pick up more Paizo product.

3) If Paizo doesn't convert, then its business as usual! I'll keep buying so long as you keep kicking ass!

A while back I said that I'd periodically check in with Paizo customers to gauge their thoughts on the upcoming 4th Edition.

Hello Erik,

1) I will not convert to 4e, probably not ever
2) I will still buy adventures, minis and world settings, but not a rules supplement
3)If you don't convert, I will buy everything

Good luck

1) Maybe, if the books manage to grip me, i will convert somewhere down the road - but not in any kind of hurry. It'll probably be 6 months or more before i even look at the books, much less make any kind of decision.

2) I will maintain my pathfinder subscription regardless (the content is just that good), but i can't guarantee for continued gamemastery PDFs

3) Pretty much the same as 2), depending on how 1) turns out (ain't it a b#%%+?)

Paizo Publishing, LLC

1: No, not any time in the next five years at least. There's still many 3rd edition and earlier edition stuff that I'd like to get, and I'm happy running 3.5 and Castles and Crusades (and I'm currently searching for a more modern and scifi campaign to suite my tastes).

2: I will more than likely switch my Pathfinder Subscription over to a Planet Stories subscription. I will pick up the remaining Gamemastery Modules for 3.5 that I don't currently own, as well the Pathfinder Chronicles that I don't have. I will probably pick up most of the rules nuetral stuff that you continue to publish for the campaign setting.

3: I will continue with my Pathfinder subscription, continue to buy Game Mastery Modules as I can through my FLGS, local bookstore and your site and pick up much the Pathfinder Chronicles products that appeal to me (which is quite a bit honestly).

1) Do you plan to convert to the new edition of D&D?
Yes. Really excited about it too!

2) If Paizo converts its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?
No change. I love your products and will keep buying them no matter what. That said I think it's a lousy idea and will make a worse product.

3) If Paizo does not convert its RPG products to 4.0, how will that affect your purchasing patterns for our products?
No change. I love your products and will keep buying them no matter what. That said I think sticking with the original system will really make for a better game.
